Well, the article was certainly a surprize to me! And, I'm just a bit embarassed!. It's all of you who gave me most of the information and so, I really wished she had mentioned our site! I didn't expect to see my name in print, that's for sure!
There is one picture of Kat (so far) that is #12 on the list of photos.
Sorry, I didn't get this posted sooner, but I've been out all morning and just now saw the article myself. Thanks for posting it for everyone, Minne!
Now I'm really embarrassed! I read the article so quickly that I didn't notice that YEA!! she did mention our site!!!
On top of that, I gave you the wrong number of the photo. Just chalk it up to my shock of seeing my name in print!!!
sending along an email from Joanne:
Sorry! I warned you I'm not good at this stuff! So, someone tell me how to email our site with the attachment with the "LARGE" photo of Katharine and "friends" and I will do it immediately!.
I promise this will be (I think) the last "blurb" from me for awhile...on this subject, at least!
Saturday was a pretty emotional day for me. Couldn't help but feel the "presence" of Kat being only 40 miles away! At my old age, I felt pretty silly about the whole thing! Being so close to seeing her and yet so far! My kids would have loved to help buy their "Kat addicted" Mom a ticket to the event, but only the $1000 ones were left! My son and his wife are saving to adopt a baby and my daughter is just getting back on her feet financially. They felt badly that they couldn't do this for me. But, from what Joanne reported, I wouldn't have been able to get close to Kat or even snap some photos!
As I've mentioned before, I consider you all my extended family and no one likes to let family down!
On the more positive side, my kids do think that something positive has to come out of this whole endeavor for me. Perhaps the start of a new career in my "Golden Years"!! Don't know what career!
I have felt extremely blessed and honored to have tried to get the coverage in Denver for Katharine. I still find it utterly mind boggling to think that I'm the only avid Katharine fan in the Rocky Mountain area! No offense meant to our great fan in Wyoming!
I know she will never know what I did, but that doesn't really matter to me. If having tried and making contact with the right people for her was the best I could do, then so be it. In some ways, it was more important to do it for all of you! I treasure your friendships!
Hi Everyone! I just read my e-mail and got a note from Peisha I wanted to post here for you. Kathy...I copied your note (above) and sent it to her...SURPRISE!!! She responded back to me and I really wanted you (and all of you here) to know how much your efforts and support for Kat have been noticed and appreciated!
Subject: Re: High Hopes Dinner in Denver wow , that is so beautiful that someone feels so much for my daughter, thank you to her beloved fans for being so true and loving. Peisha
Thanks so much Danette, for sending my note on to Peisha! I hope you can send the Denver Post Blog on to her as well!
It was a wonderful thing that she took the time to acknowledge our efforts on Kat's behalf. Now I finally feel like I did accomplish something!
I'm still trying to figure out how to post the photo so, maybe everyone can just go to the Denver Post Blog where there is a link to all the photos. #11 is the only one with Katharine.
This whole experience has been a learning one and extremely rewarding due to the wonderful response of all Kat's fans here at KMF!
For those of you who wouldn't want to read the entire 2nd Blog on the High Hopes Tribute Dinner, here is the "important stuff"!!
High Hopes has always been good, with entertainment provided by such favorites as Neil Diamond and Bob Newhart. But this year was the best, with Grammy- and Academy Award-winning musician/composer David Foster flying in with such friends as the legendary Smokey Robinson, comedian George Lopez, singer/composer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee to put on a show the likes of which Denver has not seen since the Carousel Ball ended its run in the mid-1980s.
Katharine McPhee added fuel to the gossip that she has become engaged to longtime beau Nick Cokas, by purchasing the Maui getaway offered for sale in the live auction. Cokas accompanied McPhee to Denver, and fans were wondering if the trip would be used for their honeymoon.
I think it would be really smart to just go ahead and do the honeymoon and get it over with. Then when her career's really in gear and everything is going the way she wants it to, they can just run to Vegas for a quick wedding and get started on the 15 kids while she has time, and the honeymoon will have been all taken care of already. Doesn't that sound like a plan?
Just received another email from Joanne at the Denver Post. It was a personal note but I want to share it with everyone. She finally did respond to my request about the songs........
Hopefully, if nothing else, I've made contact with enough media outlets here in Denver that "if and when" we have the pleasure of having Katharine back again, I would have made them aware of her existance! I've already written to the other contacts I made, just as a follow up reminder about what a great performance she gave.....and what they missed out on!!
