Kat has joined the galaxy of stars performing at the High Hopes Tribute Dinner in Denver September 29th. The show also features performances with David Foster, Smokey Robinson, Babyface. George Lopez will host as Master of Ceremonies. The night will provide entertainment reminiscent of those seen at the Carousel Balls presented in Denver by Barbara and Marvin Davis from 1978 through1985.
Steve Farber, Colorado leader and founder of the American Transplant Foundation will be the honoree at the benefit for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes and the Children’s Diabetes Foundation which serve over 5,000 children with diabetes. Tickets are limited as the event is approaching a sell-out. For information call 303-863-1200.
At least we know what she's going to be doing after filming her new movie. Kat is awesome. I can't think of another young celebrity that does so much charity, so often. I'm sure there are other young celebrities that do, but I can't think of anyone right now, can you?
High Hopes Tribute event: the new Carousel Ball? http://www.denverpost.com/society/ci_6559226 Tickets, needless to say, are at a premium. Call 303-863-1200 before it's too late. === DAVID FOSTER CURRENT BIOGRAPHY http://www.executivevisions.com/projectdetails.asp?ProjectID=114 In 1993, Foster was named Billboard Magazine’s "Top Singles Producer" and "Top R&B Producer." He was also the year’s top Grammy nominee with seven nominations, taking home his third award for "Producer of the Year" for The Bodyguard movie soundtrack. Foster’s producing credits include songs on such albums as Celine Dion’s Grammy Award-winning “Falling Into You,” which spawned his two hit singles, “Because You Loved Me” and “To Love You More.” He also produced Natalie Cole’s “Unforgettable” and Barbra Streisand’s “Broadway” and “Back to Broadway.” From 1994-1997, four of his productions – “Unbreak My Heart” (Toni Braxton), “I Will Always Love You” (Whitney Houston), “I Swear” (All-4-One), “Because You Loved Me” (Celine Dion) – each reached No.1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart where they remained for a total of 42 weeks. This translated to holding down the coveted #1 spot for an unprecedented 20% of a 4 year period.
Since there's much fascination with David Foster on this board, here's a couple of articles about his recent gala in Calgary:

Q: I've been looking at the people you've worked with and it's unbelievable. Two Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna. . . Is there anyone who got away? Is there someone you still want to work with? A: It's funny you should say that. Last night I was at the Justin Timberlake concert and I was thinking what an incredible artist he is. It's not really my forte what he does, but I produced one hit for *NSYNC back in the day called Music Of My Heart, and we've known each other peripherally since then. Last night he suggested we get together in December and write some songs, and I thought that was very cool.

Foster hits charitable chord at gala http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/entertainment/story.html?id=1243726f-cd4c-4dd3-97e7-aa5aa7fe7c7b
Renowned Canadian producer David Foster, a 14-time Grammy Award winner who has worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Michael Buble, raised $3 million from Calgary's elite for the charity foundation named after him at a star-studded gala Saturday night. Close to 1,800 Calgarians dressed to the nines paid $1,500 for a dinner and concert event featuring Lionel Richie, Peter Cetera, Sinbad, Beverly Mahood, Kalan Porter and others, all to benefit the David Foster Foundation.

I prefer the pic of David Foster and Nick forming a Kat sandwich at the Carousel Ball.
I may not be able to afford a ticket the High Hopes Tribute on Sept. 29th but I am trying to at least get some coverage of the event! Here is the email that I sent to the Entertainment Reporter with 9News (NBC) here in Denver. I was amazed that he responded immediately to my email. I will try other TV stations in the area to try and get some sort of coverage for Kat!
Thanks for the effort, Kathleen! I hope the other stations come through for you. The Denver Post listed 3 other charity events that day, so the entertainment reporters might be spread thin.
According to the Children's Diabetes Foundation's fact sheet, tickets start at $350 - maybe you could lean on your kids for an early birthday or Christmas present? j/k

I didn't know that the performers usually fly in the same day of an event. Do they rehearse in LA beforehand? After they arrive? Or are they talented enough to wing it?
Good work, Kathleen! We appreciate your updates!
This event seems ideal for a PBS station. Or at least one of the municipal government cable channels...
So this is the 4th Foster gala Kat will be in? There's the JCPenney Jam, the Carousel Ball, the Niagara Falls event, and now this? I think those other events were stacked with more talent, so maybe Kat will get to perform more numbers this time. I'd bet on another rendition of "I Have Nothing".
David Foster and Babyface were pretty much the king producers of pop during the mid-1990s, with Babyface also getting involved as a performer. I remember one Grammy Awards held in that era where he was basically living on stage between singing, playing guitar, and winning every award in sight. It would be cool if Kat sang something like Madonna's "Take a Bow", which Babyface wrote and produced (and sang background vocals, I think).

Oh, PBS! I forgot about that one! Denver does have a very active group promoting that channel so I will definitely email them or give them a call.
I emailed the writer of the Denver Post Aricle regarding the High Hopes Tribute Dinner that made this site. I just sent it off awhile ago so I'm sure I won't hear back until at least tomorrow. I did push the fact that since Denver was recently awarded the Democratic National Convention next year, that this dinner could just be the start of celebrity filled social affairs. Maybe Kat will be back! Don't know if she has an affiliation with the major political parties...not that I care. I just hope she will be returning to Denver!
I did mention to Joanne Davidson (the reporter that wrote the Denver Post Article) that Kat's parents met in Denver. Just a little something to "wet her appetite" for the interview that I'm hoping she will do!!!!
Heard back from another Denver TV Station........
