I'll post pictures sometime tomorrow (and we've got everything I'm going to describe) and I saw one set of vids and it looked great so you'll have that to look forward to.

PRE-PEFORMANCE

Just before the show one of the DJ's from KDND tells us the order of performances. Click Five, Katharine McPhee, Gym Class Heroes, Hilary Duff and Ne-Yo. OK, Kat's going second. Sounds fine to me.

Click Five sings five songs...I'm not familiar with them but it was pretty good but I just wanted them to get done so I could see Katharine. And 20 minutes later they were done and then a ridiculously long 15-20 minutes in between her comes the DJ to introduce Katharine.

He asks the crowd, "How many of you think Katharine McPhee should have beat Taylor Hicks last year?" Crowd cheers pretty loudly. And then he mentioned something about how "we're close to bringing Katharine on stage and how it's really a good thing to be close to Katharine." (haha, funny guy).

So I can see Kat's dancers ready to come on stage (I'm about five rows back a little to the right side of the stage). And then I see Katharine. She's wearing jeans, a black tank top and a jean jacket (it's 90 degrees in Sacramento...why jeans?). Anyway, she looks great regardless of hiding her legs on a hot day behind the jeans.

PERFORMANCE

Love Story -- No Feelin' Good intro tonight, she sings the alternate verse and sounds great. And she does sing "frieend" no, actually she said "friends" and looked at her dancers when she said it. Before the song she mentions that LS is her new single and does the whole, "How you doing Sacramento?" thing.

Dangerous -- This was fun because she walked out onto the little ledge they had on both sides of the stage and she chose the side I was nearest to. So she's about 5-10 feet away and...well, I enjoyed the view. That's all I have to say. And the little dance sequence is great on the videos but when she's right in front of you it's just...not sure how to describe it.

Over It -- OK, this is when Kat started really being talkative with the crowd (more than I've seen on the vids from elsewhere). She does her thing explaining how this is probably the only song you know if you listen to the radio station and don't have her CD. And then here comes the Kevin story. But she tweaks it. She says, "And there's Kevin" (points to someone)..."He's a cameraman now!" She said it like being a cameraman is a terrible thing or something (I don't think she meant it that way just having fun) and then she laughs and says "That's not really him." She continues with how mean Kevin was and how she's finally "sooooo over it" (full Valley Girl inflection).

As for her singing...I was really impressed. She seems to have made the song her own. She's stopped trying to copy the recorded version's ultra high-pitched parts and she just sings it the best way she can. Too bad they didn't do the recorded version they way she sang it here.

Mary Jane -- More crowd interaction. I think Paulette gets her "brallad, I mean ballad" chair out and Kat says, "She's hot, isn't she?" And I say, "Not as hot as you!" She didn't hear me. And then while she's doing her explanation of Mary Jane, a guy to the left of me says, "I LOVE YOUR HAIR!" Kat goes, "What?" He says it again, "I LOVE YOUR HAIR!" Kat hears him this time and tosses her hair, "Well, it's Sexy Hair!" I don't think most people got the joke but I thought it was funny.

Sings MJ beautifully, crowd really loves it (crowd in general was really good to her...she even mentioned it when she said something (I don't remember) and then she said, "Thank you, not everyone always cheers when I do that" (thoughts of DC clearly in her head).

Open Toes -- Before Open Toes she mentions how great it is to be in California and how "us California kids need to stick together!" She's in a really great mood, super talkative, very energetic. Then she does her usual "silly song for girls and asks who's got their open toes on tonight." She sang it really well. Better than I think I've seen on the other vids. She laughed during the bridge but before the "Put 'em on" part she went "Come on Dorian, pump this up for me!"

And that was it. She thanks the crowd for being really great and off she goes.

POST-PERFORMANCE

So there's a pretty long break between Kat and Gym Class Heroes coming on so we're looking at all the pictures taken and just talking about how great Katharine was. Then...here she comes walking through the crowd. She takes a seat in a fenced off area in between the main baseball seating area and where the standing-room seats were on the infield in front of the stage. She's carrying Nena with her, Nick is following closely behind. So is Dorian and her backup dancers. I think she wanted to watch some of the concert from there but it becomes obviously that isn't going to work. A swarm of people surround her to take pictures and ask for autographs. She signs a few things and then moves to the River Cats dugout to watch some of the show.

While in the dugout she is given a green snowcone to cool off with. People are still taking crazy amount of pictures of her. She shares the snowcone with Nick and Nena is trying to get some from herself while all of this is going on (we've got pictures of this).

Oh, a note on Nick. He was totally clean-shaven. I don't remember ever seeing him look like that. He didn't look nearly as creepy without facial hair. And he looked a little younger too!

So Gym Class Heroes sings one song and I'm sure someone decided that if she wanted to see the show the best thing to do would be to move into a luxury suite where they were far removed from everyone. My one thought about this...all of this was great to see. If nobody cared about her, then she'd be in trouble.

So they move up to luxury suite #27 (details!) along the third-base line of the baseball field. We can see Kat, Nick, Dorian, the backup dancers and two other people I don't recognize sitting together. Kat & Nick (with Nena) in the front row, everyone else a row behind them.

Alright, so Kat's up there and she still can't get away from fans. She's got a group of teenage (or slightly younger) girls waving to her non-stop from down below. I think she waved to them about five different times until they started to go away.

But the fun part about watching her up there was during Hilary Duff's set, Kat starts doing some dance moves for the group up there. All I could think of was she was practicing the choreography for the Love Story video because it was the same move over and over just she'd tweak it a little. Trying to figure out what works best for her I guess.

Anyway, so they stick around for about half of Hilary Duff and then get up and head out...not sure if they were flying to Kansas City tonight or on Sunday morning.

AFTER THE SHOW

One quick thing. Hilary Duff just sucks. Moving along...the only good thing I have to say is that I wish Kat would have switched outfits with Hilary. Hilary had on something that Kat would make every man within 10 miles pass out over. Somewhat similar to her Seattle/San Antonio dress just not quite as covered. Hilary does not have the legs to pull it off. Or the upper half either.

OK, so after the show we meet up with Co. I'm fast forwarding a little to the funny part. So we're outside of the stadium (the show isn't over...Ne-Yo still has to perform but we decide to leave since Kat has left the building. So we see this guy that looks like he might be somebody and he's got a few girls around him (total groupies). Turns out he's a backup singer/flag waver for Gym Class Heroes named DeJesus (I hope I spelled that right). Well, Co wasn't able to give Katharine this gift she had so...once we figure out who the guy is (with the help of Co's 20-year old daughter Sarah) she has the brilliant idea to give this guy the gift so he could give it to Katharine since they were all headed for Kansas City on Sunday evening.

He takes the package and says he's going to give it to Katharine. We had to show him a picture of Kat because he didn't know who she was. Whether or not he does it...I guess we'll find out in the next day or two.

I think that covers everything. Like I said pictures sometime tomorrow and I know we've got at least two sets of videos for everyone to see.

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

Glad to see Joe's still alive and not phoning in his report from the emergency room. Probably be hard to talk around an oxygen mask. I know, he's a lot younger than me, but he's a VERY dedicated fan and I'm told she can be overwhelming in person.

06/11/2007 6:04 PM Alert

My journey to see Kat at Endfest in Sacramento.

It was one of those days..............  (Well, it started off good)  I had e-mailed Cobaby to let her know that I would looooove to meet up with some of the other Kat fans from KMF.  I e-mailed her the night before (I know, I know, I procrastinated).  Anyway, I had to bee in San Francisco at Noon Saturday morning for a family wedding.  I'm thinking, "I got time."  Yeah, right, my mistake.

Got to San Francisco just in time to make the wedding, take pictures, give lotsa hugs, kisses, etc.  Then, "OK, gotta go!"  We (me, hubby & kids) get back into the car and onto I-80 East.  Anyone who lives in the area can tell you what the freeway looks like after 2 PM.  I know, "Welcome to the parking lot!"   Anyway, I felt bad for my husband, he was driving.  Anyway, it took us over 2 hours to get home.  We live in Dixon, which is about 25 minutes from Raley Field.  We had to go home to drop off the kids and pick up the tickets, change clothes (Was not going to show up in my wedding clothes!)  I felt old enough going to a concert that headlined Hilary Duff!

Well we get home, change, grab tickets, kiss kids bye, and say "hi" to the dog.  (I think in that order?!)  I didn't think I had enough time to check my e-mail (Major mistake--cobaby had left me her cell phone number so I could meet up with everyone--I AM STILL SO BUMMED!)

We get there just in time for the 1st act, Click 5?.  They were ok for a boy band.  The teenage girls seemed to like them.  Some girls were even singing to their songs.  KAT was next, but it was a loooonngg break between the Boy Band and KAT.  I kept looking for people with KAT shirts or signs, but I think all the Diehard Kat Fans were already in the front.  We were 1/2 way from the stage on Field level.  I had never been to Raley Field, it is a small stadium.  Anywhere was a good seat.  But I paid for the Field tickets, waited in line for my shiny orange plastic bracelet, so I was staying put!  LOL!

I ended up standing next to a girl holding up a KAT sign!  Woo hoo!  We giggled, pointed at the stage and just acted silly.  I didn't get her name though, I was too excited about seeing KAT, and I was alot closer than I was when she came to Arco Arena.  If anyone remembers the video we took, I had to zoom, wayyyyy in!  I think Phee still has it up on Katsconcerts.com  Thanks Phee!  Unfortunately, I didn't bring the video camera, I thought security would be tight, but again, another MAJOR mistake, I was close enough to have taken some good vid.    Oooh, how that still hurts thinking  about that.

Anway, the DJ comes out to give his intro for Kat, you can see her dancers in the background, but I didn't see KAT right away.  My husband says, "There she is, can you see her?!"  I'm like, "No!"  (I have a blonde amazon standing in front of me, being fanned by a guy 1/2 her size)  I am seriously vertically challenged so this doesn't help!  My hubby says, "She's right there, behind the speakers"!  The music to Love Story starts and KAT HAS ARRIVED!  WOO HOO!  That girl definitely has STAGE PRESENCE!    She is so beautiful!  Wow!   She looked great in her jeans and vest.  But it was really hot and muggy!  She even commented on how hot it was!  I kept looking for the snow cone guy that disappeared suspiciously before Kat's entrance!  Hmmmmm....

SJwolves did an awesome recap on the songs, so I'll just add my 2 cents hear and there.  Dangerous, was awesome!  The crowd seemed to really love it!  I know I did!  When she hits that note when she sings, "She's a Maneater!!!!!!"  My husband leaned over to me and whispered, "Wow"!  Wow indeed!  I'm still working on turning him into a Kat fan!  LOL!  SJ already mentioned the new intro to Over it that Kat did.  She pointed to the cameraman and said, "There he is, ,he's a cameraman now!"  That was so funny!  I didn't get to see what he looked like, but I'm sure he puffed his chest out a bit, and said, "Oh, yeah!  Kat noticed me!  The crowd sang with her, it was great!  It was nice to see little girls and a couple senior citizens singing with her!  LOL!  It was definitely an interesting crowd.  Mary Jane was truly mind blowing!  I had never heard the original version, but Kat BLEW OUT the speakers!  She has such a powerful voice!  A lady near us, was like, "Man!"  It seemed really loud, but Kat's voice is just so powerful, it eclipsed everything around it.  My husband said, "That girl has got a voice."  Tell me something I don't know.    Open Toes was fun!  The part where Kat cracked up laughing was when she looked over at a group of fans that were holding up their shoes and waving it at her to the beat of the song.  You couldn't miss them,  one of them was a really tall guy in a baseball hat that was holding up his sneaker!  When she looked over at them, she started laughing.  You can see that part on Dennis's video from IDF.  I haven't watched all of his video's yet, but I'm going to after this.  I wanna see if my head pops up somewhere!  LOL!

We had all seen the fan videos from her previous concerts, but they never capture the true Kat experience.  You are mesmerized by her presence, hang on to every word, and wonder why you shiver(even when it's 95 outside) when she hits that POWER note!     It was an awesome experience.  My next major mistake was not sticking around after Kat's set.  Since it seems she hung around a little longer.  I might have been able to catch up with cobaby and the others.  But it was a long day, and I did not want to hang around tfor the rest of the groups.  Nothing against them, just there to see my favorite singer, Katharine McPhee.

p.s.  One bummer, when I got in line to see if I could buy and new Kat memorabelia, they only had her CD's.  Had a couple behind me that was bummed they didn't have pics or posters of Kat also.  We'll have to wait until her next tour.  Kat is hear to stay people.  You have got to see her if you get the chance.  It is worth it.

p.p.s.  Cobaby, sorry I missed you and the others.  I hope to meet up with you at the next Norcal tour!  Thanks!

From the SacBee: • McPhee might've been the runner-up on season 5 of "American Idol," but she was the Queen Bee of EndFest 2007. McPhee held fort in one of Raley Field's suites after her 20-minute set, and whenever she came to the balcony and waved to the crowd - which was a lot - it was camera phone mayhem.

On stage, she sang to canned back-up music. But she did bring two back-up singers, and they all karaoked away to McPhee's debut album. McPhee also took a solo turn, albeit with pre-recorded piano, and wailed on Alanis Morissette's "Mary Jane."

Don't they know she's really singing? I mean she may have a track with music and some backup vocals, but she's doing her own lead vocals.

I wish she could have had a big enough budget for a real band. It's really crappy that she has to sing to a CD in all of these shows while the other entertainers have real music. It doesn't matter how good she sounds, the reporters seem to dwell on the fact that she is singing to a CD! Karaoke no less.

So ym storie is a little late but here goes

So me and my brother get there and were just waiting two hours ahead of time to see wat we can do. We tryed going to the meet and greet but failed. Anyways during the show I was highly anticipating kat I had seen hilary before. Anyways I got front and center! So first its the click5 and then kat it felt like forever to wait for kat but she came out singing love story and since its one of my faves I was extra excited! She did the lil "woot woot woot hoot hoot hoooo" and she did a lil shoulder bounce and she said everybody with ur shoulders!!! And I was trying to catch her eye and she did really quickly anyways next was dangerous and when she did the whole maneater part and starts out with " wooo ooh here she comes" I sang that and she like right at me and I looked at her and she said "you know!" and I said hey!! And we laughed a lil I was just sooo excited too have interacted with her

Over it was next and at the beginning she did the whole kevin story it was pretty funny and then she said "now I'm so like totally over it" and that made me laugh and then during over it after u call me at night and I pik up the phone she then piked up a fake phone and said "hello?" funny anyways vocal amazing and everyone sang with her

Next was maryjane and I've never heard the original but I like kats version the soccermoms in front of me were like I love this song and the way kat is singing it her voice is so pure they sang along with kat.

Next and last was open toes it was fun and again displayed strong vovals loved everything about it ill get piks soon there not great but the ok I took em with my sidekik3 so anyways

Oh p.s. After the show I saw one of the radio hots, kelly, and she gave me some lil exclusives. She asked me who I liked so we begun talking about kat and she said how she was so nice and very open all the time in interviews she also said that when kat had left all the staff were buzzing around with rumors-but before I say this know that I'm just stating what she said nor am I saying I agree with this statement-about nick and at first I thought she was gunna say how he's a lot older and I was like "so what he's 42 or whatever they've known eachother for a while and there happy" and then she says no everyone was saying that he's bisexual and then she said "I'm thinking if its true is kat the same way?" and I was like "I really don't think so" so yeah that's an interesting tid bit I thought I'd let u guys know
