Good for Katharine and great exposure. She has often come out for women's issues and supporting Hillary is noticed by millions.

I hope there is a chance they will perform together and do Everywhere I Go.

This is very cool! Didn't I read that Kat and Taylor were both Republicans? I hope not, but I'm confused.

i like Kat and i like HC, but i'm sure her reason to appear at this event has more to do with the issues involving women, which is good enough for me.

See I was on the verge of breaking down

If this is about women's issues, I wonder why Sandra Day O'Connor and Secretary of State Condi Rice aren't on the guest list...

ok, after taking a look at the guest list and it's in support for HC and her presidential election (who btw is all for the issues for women) so why would O'Connor or Rice be asked to attend, she was obviously asked to entertain and i see nothing wrong with that. we haven't questioned any of the other celebrity entertainers  when they go to entertain the present administration, so hopefully we won't hold this up as a political issue, Kat can definitely use the exposure and i still say it's for women issues that she would say yes.

Babyface was part of the entertainment cadre that barnstormed the country for Kerry/Edwards in 2004.

Now he has Katharine working as a fundraiser for HCR.  Everything else is window dressing.

This is a political fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. Katharine is raising money for HRC. Period.

Hi Maddie

My great niece's name is Madison...Maddy!

All of this is just each others' opinions. I just cringe whenever I see or hear HRC but anyone else has a right to how they feel...Kat is still loved by me no matter who she supports...I was just making my thoughts known on the thread. I am totally behind women's issues in general but there are alot of them so the issues I support do not include every one of them...anyway...if Kat gets exposure that's awesome!!...and we can all continue the love fest here on KMF

Somehow I have trouble thinking of katharine as a political person, or a 'religious' one for that matter, in the traditional sense of either of those concepts. I think of her primarily as a spiritual person with strong core values which she expresses through a variety of avenues.

I tend to agree. I doubt that Kat understands what a minefield this is, potentially. Babyface probably asked her to come along and she figured, cool, why not? I doubt that anyone around her can tell her why it might be a bad idea to enter the political mosh pit, even tangentially.

Kat needs to be circumspect and not get embroiled in the political partisan arena. She can get into a no-win situation. As long as she is invited to entertain, no matter which candidate or party, that's alright. She should be careful not to be perceived as favoring one and rejecting another.

I don't think Katharine is the sort to keep her mouth shut if she had really strong feelings about a candidate either. I just don't think she's partisan in the sense of "belonging" to a particular party. I think she wuold probably support issues she thought were important, wherever that led her. And I'd better stop right here or I'll be stepping into Phee's role as resident radical. Yeah, it's probably smarter for people just breaking into the business to be non-controversial, but Katharine is Katharine, and if she feels like saying something, somehow eventually it gets said.

"Now he has Katharine working as a fundraiser for HCR."  Who, Babyface? He's her boss? She's his love slave?  What does this mean? If we're keeping score, I'd like to see Clinton/Obama together, a wily old broad who knows the ropes and a smart young guy who can represent "the future of the party." Which would probably totally polarize the country and make people really take stock of their values. But wouldn't it be fun? esp. against Romney, who used to vote just like Hillary until he decided he wanted to be the Republican candidate for president. I wish I had a picture of some flipflops to insert here...

I'm getting seriously far afield here, but if I come back here and find "edited by KMF" all over this, I'll understand.

ok, one thing i could never understand is why celebrities didn't have the right to speak or choose who they wish to support in politics. can someone please finally explain this to me? are they not American citizens? do they not pay taxes? do they not vote? it has always amazed me with the O'Reily's and the Hannity's that these citizens are not allowed to voice an opinion should they choose or their careers go into the toilet, that is just all wrong, in my opinion. so Kat is not supposed to say or do these things because she's just starting out, heaven forbid we should have an opinion or she loses fan support, that is so wrong. i really don't care which way they sway, they do not sway me, the candidate does. ok, done, for the moment.

Babyface could choose worse for a love slave...    Babyface is part of the entertainment community that raises money for Democrats, and he is scheduled to be at this event.  He was involved in the production of Kat's CD.  It's a good bet that he's the guy who hooked her up.

As for Mitt Romney, you've been misled.  He was pretty conservative in 1994 when he ran against Ted Kennedy and hasn't changed much since, save for his position on abortion.  The blog  "Iowans for Romney" provides a chart showing the comparison with Kennedy.

What's the old saying about not talking about politics or religion?  You're bound to rub someone the wrong way.

And if you're obnoxious about it, as some celebrities have been when talking politics, you're bound to engender a particularly strong reaction.

Speech may be "free", but it's not necessarily consequence-free.

awww thanks for the sound advice and answer to my question. speak on celebrities, don't let people try to shut you up, even if they don't want to hear you, they can always turn and leave. carry on, i just want to say i don't believe all celebrities are abnoxious as some regular folk that vote for what will just get us deeper in debt as well as in trouble with the world. ok, i'm done on this subject, i can see where this would go.
