Thanks, Chellie. That's too bad about the music skipping on OT. I just read this recap over at IDF. It sounds like she handled it relatively well. The silver lining being the crowd got a verse of "Feelin Good" a capella... Posted on IDF by NateNate: " This news is brief, but I got a chance to talk just a little with Kat after the Six Flags show today and I asked her when she was shooting the video for Love Story. She said she was really excited and that she'd be shooting it next week. In retrospect, I wish I'd asked a little about the location or concept, but it was my first time meeting her and I was pretty starstruck I know some posts about tonight's concert are popping up in the old "who's going?" thread, but i thought i'd post a little while i was sharing the Love Story news: The concert was absolutely awesome! Like i said, this was my first time meeting Kat - but it was also my first time hearing and seeing her in person. For those of you who haven't had the experience, let me just tell you that she is literally the most beautiful person I've ever seen face to face. She's also a lot tinier than she looks on TV and in magazines but very healthy. She sounds amazing. Her voice fills up a venue and is just... there are no words The crowd was crazy and in addition to all the Kat fans (including a few from this forum, whom i met in line), there were a lot of hardcore Dashboard Confessional fans so when they let people enter, it was a mad dash to the stage. My friend Jon and I are young, healthy, and fast ( ) and we made it front and center, right against the guard rail! It was so exciting. A Christian Rock band called Relient K performed first and then, after a little break, Kat took the stage. She sang Love Story, Dangerous, Over It, and Mary Jane - in that order- before starting Open Toes. Her performances all around were awesome. Loving her little slightly choreographed dance moves She's just incredible when doing Mary Jane, sitting on her stool, singing her heart out. It's awesome to hear the crowd - you can actually tell she's winning people over with it, much more so than when she sings her own songs. It really gives her the opportunity to show everyone what she has and silence the nay-sayers. There were some sixteen year old girls next to me in the front - die hard Dashboard fans - and they kept booing whenever the radio station DJ's said her name earlier in the concert (had they booed when she actually took the stage - or even right before - they were going to get it. Fortunately, the did not). I was listening to them talk between her songs, and after Mary Jane, they were spewing noticeably less venom. When Kat started Open Toes, she introduced it as a cheesy little dance song - cheesy in a fun/good way, she implied. I forgot her actual words. She told everyone that they should dance along and as the music was starting up, some guy in the crowd apparently got on someone elses shoulders and lifted up his shirt. Kat just started laughing and was having a hard time singing the first verse cuz she was so distracted. It was cute, and everyone thought it was funny. Just when she was finding her stride, the music started to skip. She and her backup dancers (whom i affectionately refer to as the Jordin Sparks Twins) just looked at each other and shrugged. None of them knew what to do. Kat said something like, "Well, i guess that's all!" and it wasn't immediately clear that she was joking but she stayed around stage. She joked that maybe they should do a dance off and tried to play everything off. She seemed really unsure as to what she should do. I yelled to her, "Sing Feeling Good a capella!!!" She didn't hear me at first but i got her attention and yelled again. She said "Ok" and said it was "just for me" She sang the same one minute section intro section that she sang before Love Story at Zootopia. The crowd was loving her runs and it was awesome! When she finished she still wasn't quite sure what to do, but she thanked the crowed somewhat hesitantly and left the stage. She could have left with just a little more authority, but everyone understood that the music thing wasn't her fault and that it had thrown her off. I found the whole thing incredibly endearing and i think* other people did too, but I can't say. I'll be interested to see if there are any reviews in local papers about the concert. After the concert Kat greeted her fans by the 101.3 tent and signed autographs and took pictures for a really long time. That's when i asked her about the Love Story video. It was so awesome of her to hang around for so long - it was definitely long enough that just about anyone who wanted something signed was able to get it signed. My friend and I each got her to sign something (my ipod, his album liner) and we got pictures with her. It was so awesome to meet her!!! I have some awesome pictures since i was so close to the stage. If someone tells me how to post them in a thread, I'll definitely do it tomorrow! What a night! The funniest thing about these girls was that they were absolutely OBSESSED with talking about/bashing Kat. It's been talked about in this forum a couple times, but simple distaste for an artist is demonstrated by indifference. These girls, it seemed, literally couldn't stop talking about her. They really were ridiculous with the things they were saying - suggesting that Kat didn't deserve her fame and that she was a btch and stuff - but it was clear that it all came from a place of jealousy. Whatever - they were 16. At 16 we all think we have it figured out, but we later realize how wrong we had everything" Haters suck!

Great pics! Can't wait to see the ones my friend took! Apparently I had my mouth hanging open as Kat signed the shoulder of my shirt! LOL At least you're smiling! I especially like the puppet one. I had forgotten about that already.

^You have to give credit to Kat for keeping the show entertaining--even when the backing tracks go ka-blooey. And the best way is to just pretend you're a robot who winds down when the show comes to a standstill. Or is that Kat's "Broken" dance? You know, the move she did on that VH1 Best of the Week special months ago where she swung her arms back and forth like that while she said in jest: "'AI' made me broken!" Again--thanks, Michelle, for your OUTSTANDING coverage of this Six Flags show. The pics and video (especially the video) is almost award-winning footage. I don't think we've seen footage that close of Kat performing for an entire set. We got a few good ones last year on the tour--but it was usually for only 'SOTR' or one other song. Despite the problems at the end...I hope you'll share this on Youtube so everybody can see it. It truly shows the best in Kat's way of entertaining a crowd. The best news here is that Kat's obviously looking and feeling the best she ever has. Any worries about how she feels after being supposedly snubbed by 'AI' should be put to rest after seeing this. Kat's at the top of her game in every way...at least on a stage. You don't see a lot of performers her age look, sound or act that confident when performing. By the way, did you hear Kat utter something about wanting to ride on the Six Flags rides later? I thought she said she didn't like rides. But I guess what she meant specifically was rollercoasters. Most of the rides at Six Flags are probably pretty close to rollercoaster territory though. Luck of the draw a flying creature didn't land in Kat's mouth while singing 'Mary Jane.' I saw several giant insects go flying by her a few times. Being an outdoors type of person, she probably knows how to spray something on that keeps a monster-sized mosquito from drowning itself in Kat's neck or other available spot. I'm sure there's debate back at the mosquito nest whether it's worth doing that or not...with the majority voting "aye."

^Well, maybe all that confident coolness Kat has on stage unwinds after the show during Primal Scream Therapy week. I've never seen that kind of face on Kat unless she's truly repulsed by something. Maybe those shoes she was signing had a bad odor. Looks like simple autograph books are considered just a little too conservative now when wanting to get something signed...especially in the wacky era of eBay.

This is a bit reminiscent of when Ashlee Simpson got caught lip synching on SNL, but Katharine handled it in a very professional manner. This was the impending disaster that comes with using tracks for a live performance and our girl came through, handling everything with class.

This show was on Monday so that means a few days from now? Between the Atlanta show and going off to DC with Hilary, the Special Olympics, Sacramento & Kansas City? Are they squeezing it in on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday? That seems awful tight doesn't it? Or maybe this has been discussed further somewhere else on the site and I haven't gotten to it. Always possible with me and my big mouth having to say things before I see everything....
