There is a difference between describing a performance as boring but hoping they do better next time and hating/disliking someone for their guts in general as to not wanting to see them ever anymore. I think it's unfair to say that Kristy's vocals are not suited to the tour when she could really blend in good harmony with others.
I have listened to Kristy Lee Cook's music in her album and her myspace. I can say that I like her voice. She doesn't have the usual heavy country twang but her vocals pretty much exemplifies country. She has a full bodied, strong, clean voice.

We said goodbye to Chikezie who left the competition in 10th Place, Good luck Chikezie and we'll catch ya on the tour!
Amanda's boot was more acceptable in general than anybody else. Her voice could not blend in harmony with the others, and so, she would be singing her group song in a solo way. But of course, she was interesting to see and hear. I do hope she could get her music career in Lafayette going.
Groucho, I feel your sentiments about Amanda. I kind of identified with the hoosiers having lived in the midwest myself. Shinamarih, apology accepted. Thanks for your understanding. And, because I now live in the pacific northwest, myself, I have taken a special liberty and liking to root for the Seattle-born Kristy Lee Cook who now lives in Greg's state, Oregon. I know KLC has been in the bottom 3 a few times, but the song categories this season - with 2 rounds of Beatles - have been harsh if not unfair to the girls especially, I think. Season 5 didn't have the Beatles. They had Elvis in the top 4, but not in the top 11. TOUGH! YES!
I still think that David Archuleta has gotten away with his forgetting the lyrics based on his past merits, which is sadly, not the case for Tamyra Gray when she was booted in season 1 after messing up a Patti Labelle song. Did anyone really think Nikki McKibbin or Justin Guarini was better than Tamyra Gray? Tamyra should have sung in the finals with Kelly Clarkson. David Archuleta's runaway train with the tween votes inspite of the mess he did on Beatles round 1 is just plain favoritism to me. If DA wins, his win would not be, objectively, because he is the best singer, but the cute hot kid-guy who sings very well and who forgets his lyrics too.
If ppl could be forgiving of Archuleta's mistakes (that could have been a major cause for his early boot), how in the world are ppl so punishing of KLC for being in the bottom 3? Is it ok to forget and mess up the lyrics (like Archuleta) but it's not ok to be in the bottom 3? Elliott Yamin was in the bottom 3 a few times too in season 5 but he made it to top 3. The same way with Kimberley Locke in season 2 but made it to top 3 anyway. More paradoxes? I think I got a few more down the road.
I've been catching up on Season 2 when I get the chance (record the reruns every Saturday morning and then get to them whenever...watching the episode Corey Clark got sent away for lying yesterday). Anyway, and it was interesting how Kimberley Locke kept finding her way into the bottom three and surviving. Although she seems to be getting better each week at this point. What was weird about those early seasons is that the format was so unfair. The way they did the Top 32 in four groups and you wouldn't see someone for weeks if they were in Group 1. I think it was an advantage for Clay to fall into the Wild Card round because he got to perform one extra time. Plus, the whole unfair nature of the groups. You had what turned out to be the Top 3 in the same group and then other groups had nobody decent in them. Very odd!
And Clay was strange doing Disco. I find him...hmm, it seems like he does the same thing to every song no matter what style it is and I don't particularly care for that even though he has a great voice. And I'm not sure I get Ruben's appeal even though he's a good singer too. But I'm not sure who else could have won from that group so I understand what happened. I'm confused how Carmen Rasmussen finished sixth though. Wow. As Josh Gracin gave everyone the first sign how powerful the country vote can be even though he was pretty good. So maybe that shows us Kristy Lee will keep it going despite being in the bottom each week. She's got just enough support to survive every week and that's all that matters.
It is weird to watch Season 2 and not really have a favorite in the bunch. Season 1 last year was easy for me and even if I didn't know who any of them were ahead of time I would have loved Kelly so...wait this is the Season 7 Pool thread? Sorry! Hehe!
Player 1: Barlo Weekly Elimination Selection (Top 10): Kristy Lee Cook Performance Show Date March 25, 2008
Just so you don't miss it, Co! Since it was posted before your weekly form. I see pakatfan (Julianna, right? I think...sorry!) reposted hers so it wouldn't get missed. Alright, I'll make my pick...hmm, do I want to be stubborn with this like I was with Phil Stacey last year...
Player 7: sjwolves Weekly Elimination Selection (Top 10): Ramiele Malubay Performance Show Date March 25, 2008 And it is Malubay, Co. You keep calling her Marubay when you repost the picks. I find Ramiele boring and eventually it'll get her, I think. I really believe KLC will survive again and I think Chikezie has done enough to get a few more weeks and I can't see it being anyone else at this point. I have a feeling Carly's bottom three last week is going to help her like I believe it did Katharine when she was there with Lisa. Nothing to remind your fans that they have to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE like having your favorite standing there and having to worry about never seeing them on that stage again for 10-40 minutes.

If DA wins, his win would not be objectively because he is the best singer, but the cute hot kid-guy who sings very well and who forgets his lyrics too.

Of course Tamyra should have made the finals with Kelly. You might be able to argue Tamyra could have/should have won although you'd be splitting hairs with that one. Ultimately, I think Kelly's personality would have won out in the end even though Tamyra was very likeable too. It's just so wrong that Nikki McKibbin finished ahead of her...I get why Justin did even though I thought he got worse as the season went along but...like what's happened with Archuleta...if you get all those loyal young girls with you early on, they'll will keep you going for a long, long time. But it takes more than that or we'd have had more "cute guys" win the crown and well...guess what? None have so far!
Who's punishing KLC for being in the bottom three? It's not her fault, just more a sign that she's just scraping by each week but you know what? It doesn't matter how you do it! It's like in sports...you don't get extra credit for winning by 30 points, you just have to win. OK, maybe in college football it matters because of the stupid polls but...you know what I'm saying. A win is a win and if you keep it going...who knows? Maybe KLC can win more people over the more chances she has. She's got a nice voice, she's cute, she's got a good personality. My only issue is her stage presence. She seems a little small up there to me and that's a problem. She doesn't stand up real well against Carly or Brooke in that way. And my underdog favorite, Syesha...who showed signs last week of coming around.
My thing with Archuleta is...how can anyone watch him and then watch Carly or David C and say he's a better all around perfomer/singer/entertainer? I don't get it! The kid is a good singer but that's it.
Anyway...
Yes Julianna! haha Sorry I don't really know anyone's names...
The cliche on personality is being overused by Simon but he has a good reason for it. Subtly, Simon is trying to define maturity in a bigger sense and so he throws more questions for the contestants to respond to and he seems to delight on confrontations. He doesn't really care if the contestants retort back with their feisty answers. Simon just needs to hear what they have to say. T
