I really wanted to go away from Archuleta but I couldn't get myself to go with anyone else at #1. And my initial thought was to have three guys in the final four but I'm banking on my belief that Carly hasn't had her moment yet and her talent will take over. Then I like Brooke's quirkiness and likeability over D.Cook & Michael. If this was solely a talent competition, I think Syesha would finish higher than sixth but she hasn't shown a lot of personality and that stonewalls her at sixth. Then we've got the talented but awkward (for me) David H at seventh...Jason Castro's unique style and nice voice caps off the "upper tier" of contestants in my mind at eighth. I didn't have a problem placing 9-12 in their spots, the hard part was 2-8 for me. So it's Ramiele in ninth, I don't see her appealing enough to crack the top group and her style isn't that exciting to me. Then surprisingly Amanda goes 10th...if you'd told me last week that she made it here I would have definitely had her 12th but she won me over (a little) with last week's performance. I made a mistake last year with Gina, getting overly excited about one performance and I think putting her fifth. I'm not going that overboard with Amanda this year but she goes a little higher than I expected to put her. That leaves me with Kristy Lee & Chikezie in the last two spots and I'll put Chikezie out this week pretty much on a hunch. I'd be surprised if they aren't the first two out.
I was just going to say not to forget trsf (I hope that's right, tsrf...no I think it's trsf) in your recap, Co! I think we're missing five ballots as the deadline nears here. I'm not counting Paula since she said she's out last week.
I'll tally all of these up and give you what the group as a whole thinks. My eyeballing of it says that Archuleta is probably first with Carly second and then I'm not sure after that. Like I said I'll have a full recap of the ballots tomorrow to see what our consensus is before the Top 12 begins tonight.
I was tempted to put Katharine McPhee in first since I wanted to pick someone other than David A. We know she'll be the winner this week.

First time this year someone is playing in the same league as Kat. And she got the same comments as Kat did Top 12 night, including the Kelly C comparisons by Simon. Watchout David A, there's footsteps behing you!
Pending a ruling from the Co part of the CoJo commissionership, I'm going to let Kate4Chris&Kat & Shinamarih's ballots count with the exception that neither will get points for this week because they were late. But those are the last two in. So we've got 18 ballots and those are the 18 people that are with us going forward because there's really no way to compete the rest of the way if you don't have a Top 12 ballot. That's where most of the points come from.
Here's how our ballots look when you combine them all. So this is how our group is predicting Idol Season 7 to go before the Top 12 started:
For the record, nobody has actually predicted this 1-12. Co & Joe are the only two with Archuleta, Carly & Brooke as the Top 3 and neither one of us has Michael fourth so...there you go. And also, nobody has the same two ballots so we've got that going for us.
I was surprised how overwhelming Carly was as the second choice. I figured Archuleta was going to be an easy #1 (although I hope he doesn't win) and I also thought some combination of Kristy Lee, Amanda & Chikezie would be 10th-12th. But that area from 2nd to 9th figured to be up in the air in my mind so that's why all the Carly love surprised me.
