Phillippi Duane Sparks (born on April 15, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is a former NFL football player.

Sparks attended Arizona State University and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He was drafted by the New York Giants as the 13th pick in the second round of the 1992 NFL draft. He played opposite Jason Sehorn for 6 years and formed a talented defensive backfield tandem. He played for the New York Giants until 1999. In 2000, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys, playing starting left cornerback for the team and was #20. He played football for nine seasons. Sparks announced his retirement on August 28, 2000.

He now resides in Phoenix, Arizona. He and his wife, Jodi Wiedmann Sparks are real estate agents. They have two children; Jordin, who is currently a finalist on American Idol and Phillippi "PJ" Jr. . His sister-in-law Shari Wiedmann is a model, actress and spokesperson.

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Well, Kat fans, what did you think of the final showdown? I just watched the show. Chris sounded good but was hard to recognize with all the eyeliner! LOL Just as I predicted, it was no competition at all. Jordin was fabulous tonight and walked away the winner. I'm sure of it. Now had Melinda been in the final, it would have been a battle of the BIG voices!! I would have paid good money to see that show!! I like Blake and think he has a very unique talent . . . but the last two songs tonight really showcased his weaknesses vocally. In fact, on the second song, there were definite pitch problems and I'm very surprised that none of the judges called him on it. Guess they didn't want it to appear to be a landslide in Jordin's direction. Too late, judges. In my opinion, this was a no brainer! Congrats to both. What were your thoughts?

I thought the judges were kind to Blake. I thought Jordin gave us the finale thrill that Kat's sore vocal cords deprived us of last year. I thought Daughtry was surprisingly weak.

Yeah I think that because of some of the media....The judges were super nice to blake. honestly in my opinon. i thought he did pretty average tonight. First one was good but jordin won.. JORDIN ROCKS MY SOCKS...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO DOES KATHARINE!!!!!!!!!

Immediate thoughts that came to me tonight (and out loud to family I had over for a viewing party): 1. Jordin winning isn't necessarily locked 100%. 2. It took TWO people to write 'This is My Now?' Well, even with it looking obvious for Jordin winning, there still could be a surprise tomorrow night. The reason I say that is because of Blake getting knocked down a notch tonight by the judges. You know how fanbases rally after those kind of things happen. And Blake's fanbase is more organized and powerful than a union. On the other hand, Jordin probably (as we expected) gained more voters who wait to vote until the very end to feel like they made the ultimate difference in determining the outcome. I'm sure she gained even some of the older demographic out there as Kat last year. Jordin's going to be another one of those young singers who has appeal to all ages. In my mind, both did a great job tonight. Mainly, it's because they both carved out who they were as artists as we'd expect of them. Blake's 'You Give Love a Bad Name' was better than the first time around. Jordin's brilliant performance of 'Broken Wing' should be her single rather than 'This is My Cow.' Ok, sorry to knock the winning song from the songwriting contest. I should have known that the cookie-cutter power ballad would win over the two others that I thought were more creative. It should have been 'Next Big Thing' winning...even though that would have been better-suited for Melinda. The other I picked was 'Secrets & Lies.' They both were creatively different. But apparently the public isn't in a mood to be creative and picked the safe choice. I mentioned in my 'Top 20 Song' thread in here that 'This is My Now' would probably be 'AI's pick if they had their way. On the original demo, they had a Taylor sound-a-like singing it--hence reminding me of 'Do I Make You Proud?' a tad. One of those guys who wrote it must have been the singer I assume. Great at least two guys from the NW were the winners. The NW United States is on a roll finding musical talent. I guess Arizona is still considered part of the west. I'm willing to forget the fact that they're actually SW. I guess if I submit a song to the 'AI' contest next year--I'll just churn out a basic power ballad. That's what it appears the public wants from the 'AI' machine. I admit that Jordin sounded good singing it. Blake's had good style to it, however. His version was better than I thought it'd be. His sitting on that ledge in the beginning helped bring some personality to it and helped sell it better. But you can't beat Jordin's high notes on just the right songs. Her vocal purity is on par with Katharine's most (or maybe part) of the time. So now it'll be interesting to see who they parade out tomorrow night on the finale. The acoustics in the Kodak Theater are just amazing. And I'm expecting some unique pairings with Blake and Jordin on tomorrow's show. I think we can count out the Kat/Blake duet on 'Open Toes'...despite that being one of the more creative rumors of the decade. As I said, whoever wins will be likely only by single digit margins. Unless I'm wrong and people went crazy for Jordin last minute...which put her way over the top. Oh, and I wanted to see Paula in a nose bandage after breaking her nose. Her funny way of talking (plus a visible bruise on her face) at least adds something to TV history...

I love Jordin...she reminds me a bit of LeAnne Rhimes at that age. Jordin is very special and no doubt, will have a great career. The thing really missing (for me) this year was that "one breath-taking, heart-stopping performance" such as Katharine gave us last year. This is only my second year of watching Idol and I guess I'm just now realizing how very special Katharine's rendition of "Over the Rainbow" was last year. I waited all season for someone to deliver that kind of chill giving performance. Katharine was truly brilliant and it will not be easy for anyone to match those moments of incredible magic that she gave all of us!

I'm just a huge proponent for creative songwriting (yet still making a song sound mainstream)--and the tired power ballads just bother me a little. I'm all for inspirational songs in general that have something different to say, however. Actually, the song I was going to send has a fairly mainstream sound--but just had lyrics that conveyed something different. Even so, I didn't use the usual chords either as 'TiMN' used. Now those two guys writing the song will likely make a million dollars by summer based on a cookie-cutter song. Oh well, it gets their foot in the door. The creative project that gets you on the map usually does have to be a creative sacrifice before you can do the really creative stuff. That's one point I at least gave to Blake: He dared to be creative without going into avant-garde territory. Though I guess some of those noises he made could be close to that bad air conditioner sound Groucho described.

I think Jordin will win, but i gotta stick with my pick on this pool.. The Song, what is it? This is my Now? (the title sounds weird) chooses the Winner.. And This Song is so Jordin-ish, definately not for Blake..It's kinda weird if Blake sings it as a winner.. If the Judges kept telling a Good Vocalist will win, why Didn't they said it last year for Kat? Since She's great singer, &Taylor's NOT!

^^Wow, Mattsie...if that's accurate (and I guess DialIdol gets more accurate the more it gets whittled down)--Jordin may win with a larger margin after all. And I was secretly hoping for the first tie in 'AI' history. Just imagine such a bizarre coincidence occurring. I've seen stranger things happen. But if that happened...I'd think Idol is being manipulated through other powerful sources other than...people. I'm secretly hoping we'll get closer results tomorrow to make it a less-predictable show. Though the surprise guest appearances (and match-ups) is where the real surprises will occur I hope.

Despite what Zabasearch and Dialidol are predicting (or announcing), this contest could go either way, based on the fact that fanbases usually decide American Idol. Blake's huge fanbase seems unstoppable, but Jordin did a great job on all three songs and will be hard to beat. I personally picked Jordin to win, but after his first performance reminded me of Taylor, I realized he had a better chance than I previously thought. Could they eliminate Lakisha, Melinda and Jordin three weeks in a row? I don't think they should.

This thread will come to an end tonight and we finally found something to top "Kat in glasses with pink shirt". This has been fun and challenging and thanks to Co, we found a place to discuss AI and vent when our friends in real life tired of listening to our incessant babbling about eliminations, good vocals, who will go, etc. For the most part, we seem to be united on the choice for this seasons winner and if we don't get it, there will be another lengthy thread about how unfair things are. All the best to both Jordin and Blake.
