i'm actually fine with whoever wins, BUT.....if Blake pulls out even one hot performance ala "You Give Love a Bad Name", making Paula jump out of her seat clapping like a baby seal, along with the crowd roaring and cheering, he may be tough to beat. If he doesn't, Jordin takes the cake. That's basically what it comes down to...whether or not Blake can REALLY nail a performance on finale night.

Basically, they said this race is a tough one to call that could come down to performances.  Hey, Paula picked Blake for the Finale, and pushed Kelly C. and Taylor through during the auditions, and we know where they ended up.  Paula doesn't get near the respect as Simon, but if Blake wins she's believed in and picked 50% of the AI winners.  Go Paula, get ready to clap like a baby seal on Tuesday and bring that AI crown to Blake!  Let's hear it for the underdogs!

Blake just HAS to give it everything he's got. I don't remember Paula picking him for the finale, I thought she remained neutral, ,but, she has supported him all season. If Blake is original enough and tempers his beatboxing, he could really pull this off, but my vote goes to Jordin right now.

She's been my favorite all season, but I still thought it was going to be Melinda.

Who will win American Idol Season 6: JORDIN

JORDIN SPARKS -"To Love Somebody" by Barry Gibb

Barry Gibb: "I know a couple of hundred of people have sung this song, but I've never heard a greater version than Jordin's."

From mattsie:
Yes, while we are busy with Jordin and Blake here on the boards, a lot of people out there are really disappointed that Melinda was eliminated and not going into the finals. Many have turned away from the show because of what happened to Melinda, and still, many are enamored by this show, regardless. I think, the show will go on anyway, but I'm afraid if AI keeps on victimizing real talents, they're going to have to start defending their stand against those who don't have the looks but can sing as opposed to those who have the looks and can sing as well.

The way it stands now is that there is a double standard in this show. It started with exactly what they have in mind--- a really talented white, blonde with hazel or blue eyes ---Kelly Clarkson, from the southwest. Then, they had to operate like the real company with equal opportunity for everyone, and so Ruben and Fantasia had to establish the minority department. Later on Carrie, another blonde, and Taylor, a former blonde, would follow. I really felt bad for Katharine, the brunette, because she was to be the white winner, but they needed a guy so badly to balance the equation. Taylor was to be the savior, not Chris, because of personality factors.

However, it didn't seem like Ruben and Fantasia would ever be alone with the coming of Melinda Doolittle this year. But it didn't happen for the brilliant vocalist. Too bad. I say, Ruben and Fantasia would not have made it with Melinda around, though. Ok, knowing AI's history, it's almost predictable now that a girl will be the next winner, but it would be willed that neither pure black or pure white, as in Jordin's case, would become the next winner, for a news breakthrough.

I had suspected this from the very beginning because Randy Jackson would consistently pimp Jordin and the 2 sisters, making sure he did the needed damage control here and there. Jordin is indeed a phenomenon for AI because she would become the youngest winner and first "mulatto" winner. I think it's more of "by design" than "by coincidence". Blake will be the casualty this year as his gimmick is so new that the voting public may not be exactly ready for a techno album yet, or are they?

If I had figured this out before, I would have won the game. But of course I knew it, but then I still went along with Melinda winning because I'm a true trooper and sucker for talent (not that Jordin is less talented but because Jordin is young and inconsistent, I didn't put much value into that). Take note, it would not be possible to have three black girls eliminated in a row. The third one must win, and Jordin is the ONE. Sorry Blake, the likes of you will have to come next time. You are the test-run for this department of innovations. Blake has been to the bottom before but not Jordin. Blake is to be the third boy runner-up. He would be the next Clay Aiken in terms of influence and popularity, although Clay was never in the bottom (but Ruben once was).

I'm not a racist  in favor of either side. I'm not advocating any thing to do with race. I'm just analyzing what could have happened. As you see, as in many workplaces, EOE (equal opportunity employer) is made available. I'm just trying to go along with the social aspect of this show. If AI must be a legitimate business that would go on for a long time, the company must be able to hold up the social impact the show creates within bargained fairness among all types of people. So, later down the line, we could expect a Latin, Arabic, or Asian winner too. This is america at work. I could be wrong too.

Next season, find a contestant from either Hawaii, Illinois or New York early on that would help the social aspect of AI. I could guess that it would be a black or dark guy. Then, watch as the judges try to help that person make it by not letting them go bottom 3 or 2. It is not about talent per se nor about personality per se either. AI looks for the unusually talented pinup guy or girl to hold the torch for them and represent them in the guise of music while the winner help increase TV ratings and the producers collect their earnings in bundles from Coke, Ford, and AT&T/Cingular.

Katharine was the most talented last year, but she could help increase FOX rating for AI even without winning as she is the most marketable contestant ever on AI, being so talented. AI was smart to get a double whammy from Kat and Taylor. People from the south always support their contestant and so Taylor's story would reinforce Ruben's winning as Ruben is also from the same state of Alabama, only this time, it's from the white population.

The west coast was cheated last year. This year, it's payback! With Carrie coming from the southcentral state of Oklahoma, demographics looked like there has been a change in the routine of winners until it came out of the southeast again with Taylor. However, this year, they needed to get out of the southeast and so Melinda had to go, to remove the prospect of having someone from that region again, because she would win if she had stayed.  So then, that would finally move the demographics back to the west coast, solidly, and so with Blake from Seattle and Jordin from Arizona, AI looks like it's doing a great job. We could have almost gotten a winner from the midwest (Michigan) with Lakisha, but she did not live up to the expectation by design, because Melinda went past her fast in the billing. This could have been the reason why Lakisha didn't show more her motivations to win--she wanted out and she got what she wanted.

But still, people would like to be voting for talent anyway because that's the name of the game. But how many of you feel you've been had by politics? It is why the voting process is so free and confusing almost. This is to overshadow the foreboding calesthenics of demographics in the name of music for self-agrandisement---called TV rating. This show is the most successful show by FOX! Between dialing and texting, one would never really know what the real score or tally is. Only the operators of production know that. What a show this has been! And, what a show it will be!

I love this picture, what a sweetie Blake is.

I've been watching some of the Coca-Cola Behind the Scenes videos on the AI site, and all these guys are pretty funny.  Blake just cracks me up, he's really a funny and sweet guy.   This season definitely has a lot of fun personalities, and they seem to get along great.  I'm looking forward to seeing them on the tour.

Mattsie, thanks for posting Blake's audition.  I love his Dad, Dallas, he reminds me a little bit of Danny McPhee in the crying department, lol.  But, he's so proud of his, Blakie, that "I love you Daddy," from Blake during his homecoming was adorable.

Actually, I'd like to see Blake win because it would level the playing field for next season, and give us 3 males - 3 females.   I really think he may pull it off because of the size of his fan base, but idk, it's a tough race to call.

JORDIN SPARKS ---"Broken Wing" by Martina McBride

Simon: "Based on that performance, you could win american idol".

Sparks will fly: The beatboxing might go on, but Jordin’s the obvious pick
By Mark A. Perigard
Boston Herald TV Critic

Beyonce Lite or Beatbox Boy?
In the “American Idol” showdown (Tuesday night at 8 on WFXT, Ch. 25), put your money on 17-year-old Jordin Sparks.
 ”American Idol”:
Sparks doesn’t have the strongest, most polished voice - viewers eliminated that contestant, Melinda Doolittle, last week. But Sparks does have a pleasant, natural r & b vibe that works for her. Her version of “I Who Have Nothing” last week secured her spot.
Blake Lewis remains a gimmick. Admit it. Every time the 26-year-old opens his mouth, you expect him to become a human turntable and start pumping some beats and scratching and skipping some notes, as he did in his rendition of “Roxanne” last week.     If Lewis does win Wednesday - and an upset is possible - chalk it up to the tweeny contingent. While only one segment of “Idol’s” fan base, it is the one group most likely still consistently voting. As Variety noted last week, now more people watch the Wednesday results show than the Tuesday performance shows - another sign of America’s dissatisfaction with the contestants.
“Idol’s ” buzz has cooled, and there are three culprits: judges Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson.
They are the ones responsible for the most lackluster talent pool in “Idol” history. While it would have been great to see Taunton’s Nick Pedro make it further in the competition, others such as Chris Sligh, Antonella Barba and Sanjaya Malakar should never have gotten past Hollywood week. “Ponyhawk” was the most divisive contestant in “Idol” history.
Some advice for the judges next season: Stop thinking about personality and concentrate solely on musical ability across a range of genres. That’s the best way to restore the show’s credibility. Viewers will find reasons to root for the contestants as the season progresses.
It wouldn’t kill Paula and Simon to keep their hands to themselves and actually watch the performances. The average viewer at home can manage the 90 seconds or so to watch Jordin or Blake sing. Paula and Simon have been playing a public game of handsies all season long.
Unlike those of us at home, they’re actually getting paid to take “Idol” seriously.

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

JORDIN SPARKS - "I Who Have Nothing" by Shirley Bassey

Jordin Sparks favorite to win American Idol

Showbiz Spy Adam Nutburn

Posted on May 20 07

Written By: Adam Nutburn

Jordin Sparks
With Melinda Doolittle out of the picture, the role of favorite has fallen onto the pipes of the 17-year-old Idole hopeful, Jordin Sparks.

Sparks’ youth, and her great looks and, at times highly powerful voice should earn her the crown, as the winner of the sixth season of ‘American Idol’, when she faces off against Blake Lewis on Tuesday and Wednesday in the competition’s final days.

For all that’s said about Idol’s imperfections, the show has never had a winner that couldn’t sing. It is because of that history Jordin Sparks has grabbed the spot as favorite over Lewis.

Lewis has certainly brought a unique style to the often bland final weeks of ‘American Idol’ but he is not a singer, nor is he looking to become one. What Blake has offered is a break form the mundane but he won’t be rewarded with the ‘Idol’ crown for his efforts.

When Doolittle was voted off there was no bigger winner than Sparks. Melinda carried the one thing that Sparks didn’t have and that was a dynamic voice and although Sparks has sounded great at times it was clear that Doolittle was better. With Melinda now gone it becomes Jordin’s time to reign.

Had the finals been Doolittle and Lewis or Doolittle and Sparks the final vote would have been close but with Sparks and Lewis it appears that Jordin has the edge in just about every category. The knock on Doolittle was her age and marketability, something that Sparks clearly has in her advantage. Sure Lewis is young and he has certainly shown an ability to attract a fan base but Sparks is on a different level.

Sparks is the singer you could see at the Grammy Awards
whereas Lewis is the guy you could see opening the X-Games.

Jordin is what ‘American Idol’ was created for;
Lewis is why ‘America’s Got Talent’ was created.

Look for Sparks to gain the votes of the Doolittle faithful and earn the title of ‘American Idol.’

You know...if there was a chance of Co catching me I could have played this strategically and picked Blake to win to cover myself. But I wouldn't do that. I want the satisfaction of having Jordin right from the beginning to the end.

Forget this though...I'm having all the crazy thoughts about what this Kat & Blake thing might look like. Please let that be true! That could be soooooooooooooo amazing.

Hey, were both Gamers, but we both were pretty good at our selections throughout, as well as, who we think may take it all. Well, one of us will be winning the Grand Prize of the Taylor Hicks CD! LOL.

I know, the "Blake-Kat rumor" has really caused a lot of excitement. And now, the Minneapolis Fox story, it's looking better and better, Kat will be there sometime this week. I never gave up my McPhaith, I still believe she will be there.

LMAO You Two! Joe, same with you, i'm crazy bout Kat-Blake rumors.. I'm dying to see both of them together.. Co!!!! I choose Not to Win if that's the Grand Prize! MuaHahaaa!

Listening to someone sing the NA can be very revealing on a lot of counts. I haven't heard Jordin, but I just heard Blake, and that told me a lot. When he has to play it straight, he's not a player. And I don't really have a dog in this fight, I was rooting for Melinda.

Well, guyz, it's all about fanbases now. It will be an interesting night for sure, but if there is one thing I have learned this year, American Idol is NOT a singing competition, it is a performance competition and Blake has certainly been a more interesting performer than Jordin, even though Jordin has the superior vocal abilities.

Not in the pool, but have found Jordin to be the most exciting artist from the start!Agree,Groucho, listening to Blake"s attempt at the anthem was quite revealing of his pipe limitations.Thank you,Mattsie for the mini-retrospective of Jordin's touching perfs: just watching them again, totally confirms that she is indeed the stronger singer.Blake is talented and unique, but I would only run to buy Jordin's CD in a heartbeat..as I did with Kat's!Jordin has a bit of the "IT" and "Wow"factor as Barry Gibb implied with his comments.JORDIN to WIN IT!

Well, my vote rests with Jordin now that Melinda is out of the competition. I don't see how Blake could beat her. I would think a lot of Melinda's votes will go to Jordin now. She has the voice but you never know. I'm usually the resident cheerleader around here . . . but must admit I'm finding it difficult to muster up any excitement about the finale after what has happened with Kat.

I don't think for a minute that an Idol appearance will make or break her career. It's the principal of the thing for me. If Kat was not invited to appear, it's an obvious and public snub to her and her fans. Especially because she was 1st Runner Up last year. Not Kellie, Elliott or Chris. It's upsetting to me to see Kat or anyone I care about treated unfairly. That's why I've made an effort to make my feelings known. It may not change anything, but at least I feel like I did something. You know?

As a fan who has followed the show for years, Kat not being a part of this season is a real disappointment. Thinking about her being excluded takes all the fun out of the finale for me! Sniff, Sniff! I wish Jordin and Blake every success and hope they give great performances tonight.

A Sad McPhan, Teilah

Thanks, Co.
GO JORDIN!

Yes, I'm campaigning for Jordin. I'm convinced she could take the prize home. I wish both of them good luck tonight. Jordin is a sweet (but psychologically tough) girl with such vocal power and range and singing is her passion. She is sharp with her key and precise on her notes, and her diaphragmatic breathing and singing have improved a lot throughout the contest. She should do very well tonight. I'm really excited and nervous too at the same time. I wonder if she is going to wear her hair straight or curly. I'd like to see a very youthful attire for her tonight, though. Whatever it is, just have fun up there, Jordin!

Blake, however, should not find himself beatboxing in all 3 songs. I don't doubt that he could put up a fight in the performance and stage presence but that is clearly a cover to make up for the lack of vocal power that he needs to concentrate on. It would be interesting if Blake sings a powerful ballad and croons on a lower key different from his usual tenor-falsetto tone, then nails the song! Blake's vocal power is weaker than Jordin and his range is limited. But he looks confident on stage and brushes off missed notes here and there easily with a beatbox sound. He has to stop doing that. Good luck to both of you!

Simon can’t Predict American Idol Winner

Simon Cowell cannot predict who will win “American Idol”,  this year’s show has come down to a choice between a “brilliant entertainer” and a “great singer.”Voted Off American Idol

Jordin Sparks, a bubbly 17-year-old with huge voice, and spiky-haired Blake Lewis, 25, who puts a modern twist on classic songs, will square off  in the two-part finale on Tuesday 5-22-07 and Wednesday 5-23-07.

“I can’t call it at this stage,” Cowell told reporters on a conference call. “For Blake, he’s a brilliant entertainer, but the negative is he’s not a fantastic singer. The advantage for Jordin is she is a great singer and the negative is she hasn’t done one performance yet which I can remember
