Kellie rocked that National Anthem. She pwned Elliott!

At the beginning I really liked Taylor. But after his Takin To The Streets performance I had a hard time taking him seriously after that. I was always waiting to see the buffoonery instead of listening to him sing. A lot of people like the wacky dancing, and I'm not saying that I don't enjoy it, it's just harder to take him seriously as an artist.

Was he the best singer? No

(in fact I would say that there are at least 10 others in the top 24 who are better).

But, is he unique and entertaining? Yes

I think Taylor sucks.
Down here in Alabama, everyone rooted for him JUST because he was from Alabama and it was just so stupid. They did the same with Ruben and Bo too.

I've never understood the hype about Taylor.
Down here in Alabama, everyone wanted him to win just because he was from Alabama, which was the same with Ruben and Bo. *thumbs down* They also mentioned how it was so much fun to watch him when to tell you the truth, it's not. His voice doesn't compare to Katharine's.

kenndawg316...now that's right on the money. whether Kat McPhans like it or not, he won, a true American Idol is someone who has the whole package. I think Kat has all what it takes, but I guess Taylor had something more in him for America to make him the Idol for this season.

I'm sorry if I get to offend anyone with this, but I don't think this poll shouldn't be here. I mean, this is a Katharine McPhee fansite and we are all about rooting for Kat and wishing her all the best for her career, and focusing our attention ONLY TO HER. Putting a poll about Taylor Hicks, it's just like throwing fresh meat in a lion's den. Admit it or not guys, most of us will want to bash Taylor especially because there are people who thinks Kat should have won.

Well, that's just me and my opinion.

At the very, very beginning, I was rooting for Taylor just b/c he was different...but then he became way too...gimmick-y for me.

First let me say I really like Taylor personally. He seems to be a very nice, gracious guy. However, my honest opinion on Taylor's voice is that he is an OK singer. I personally feel I have people who sing solos at my church who are just as good but they don't gyrate and spin around like Taylor. The reason I don't give his voice higher marks is that it is too raspy for my taste and his vocals are very thin in my book. Of the people he gets compared to I have never cared for either Ray Charles or Joe Cocker as vocalists that much so that similarity doesn't do much for me. Now Michael McDonald I absolutely love and he is one of my favorites but if you listen to Michael his vocals come out MUCH richer than what I hear from Taylor and though Michael is a very soulful singer his vocals are still pretty smooth sounding and he does not have the gravely, raspy sound that comes from Taylor most of the time. Raspy voices just aren't my cup of tea as I don't like people like Rod Stewart or Kenny Rogers that much either. When folks like that sing I always feel like they should go to the bathroom and try to get some of the flem out of their throat and come back and try again.    I guess its just all of matter of the type of sound you prefer.

I liked Taylor, and could move to the music, but Katherine is the one of all of the Idol's that will go the farthest since she is multi talented. They all gave me great moments just because I love young strugling artist. This season was the best. The choice of AI first place is not based on talent as much as on what the viewing audience does with the voting. I, being a grandmother type send them all Hugs, especially Kathering.
