A rather entertaining night - you saw how performers respond to having really great material with which to work.

I think I'm the only Phil booster here (even though I selected him to go home this week). He has done very well the last two weeks, imo, as the material has suited his singing; he struggled in the early weeks with bad song choices (Leanne Rimes?). Paula Abdul has upped her game this year with useful criticism, and she has Phil pegged - excellent in the chorus, average in the rest. I agree.

Richardson is coming on like a freight train. He outperformed Blake last night, by far.

Which creates an interesting situation. Assuming Phil is eliminated, that leaves Blake, Chris and Sanjaya as the remaining guys. Most assume Blake will make it to at least third, but is that a good bet? Chris has closed the "appeal" gap on him and Sanjaya is in a category of his own. I don't think Blake is such a sure thing anymore. Given the right circumstances, either of these guys could outpoll him on a given week and send him home unexpectedly.

I'm also a Jordin fan, but I found her performance a bit hard to embrace, much like last week's effort. She's doing just fine, but her song choices are leaving me unsatisfied. I think she needs to keep an eye on that - you don't get extra points for degree of difficulty. Particularly on a Standards Night, she should sing what the voters expect to hear.

As for others: Melinda dominated a jazz standard - yawn. Haley showed some leg, Vegas showgirl style - enough already. Gina put her heart out there - nice but not memorable. Lakisha stayed comfortably within her downcast cocoon - powerful but distant as usual. Sanjaya smiled a lot.

On the upswing - Chris, Phil

Showing Weakness - Blake

Entering dangerous territory - Lakisha

Clock is Ticking - Gina, Haley

I couldnt disagree with your post more haha.... well i agree with little things but its your opinion so i respect it!.. now here is mine.

Blake and Jordin are here to stay they continue to be upbeat and new with what they sing they have great personalities and give american something to enjoy.  Simon has already said that Blake is the best guy on the show by far and paula and randy even said he could sneak into the finale. I would not be surprised to see a blake and jordin finale!!! and I hope to God it happens!

Kiki and Melinda are very good performers, i do not think they deserve as much credit as the judges are giving them. the judges pimp them too much (mainly randy). I mean they are great, I know that I just think that America is going to get sick of ther repetitive performances. Plus they are not todays popular style!! I dont think either of them would sit well as the next american idol! we need someone young, fun, and exciting!

Phil and Chris at the begining of the competition i was liking phil and his voice but the last few weeks he has really let himself go. its like he isnt trying, last night was horrible and it he made it obvious he needs to leave the competion! Chris is ann okay singer not for my liking, he sings too much out of his nose and that really annoys me. Another thing that annoys me is how he is a justin timberlake wannabe...he isnt close to being as talented as JT and i dont even think Justin sings all that well. They dont come close to being good as Blake-- and Chris def. did not outsing or performe Blake last  night!!!

Gina in the begining she really really bugged me, i was always like "she is trying way to hard to be a rocker chick." Last week and this week have been really great for her and I really think that randy down played her performance. You can tell when the judges have their favorites and when you arent a favorite you are downplayed which is unfair so life goes on. I could see her going home in like 2 or 3 weeks just because she is downplayed, and that can lead to her being forgettable by america.

Sanjaya and Haley these two are the JOKE of american idol! Sundance and Sabrina should still be on Idol!! Not these two. Haley can't hold a note and when she does she sounds like a screeching elder lady!!! it just is not attractive at all... and she needs a fricken back bone and tougher skin. i hated when she was like "you guys always give me bad comments, blah blah." who cares? its part of the show get over it! this is another reason i dont think she would make a good idol at all. I'm sorry and she isnt all that attractive with that huge ugly mole on her cheeck! get it removed please! I hate the way she dresses so skanky, she is not classy. I hate when people say she is the "katharine mcphee" of this season cause that is so untrue. Katharine is MILES prettier than Haley could ever hope to be,Kat is classy--dresses nicely and kat can SING. Sanjaya, don't even get me started!!! he is a joke, i liked him in the begining but he has no personality! he can sing but is too afraid to show it, he needs to go cause america and the judges are so damn sick of his ass! notice last night how the judges didnt/couldnt comment the vocals on either sanjaya or haley? yeah thats saying something!!!

Who I think will be voted to bottom three by america-Haley,Phil and chris/kiki

who i want to be in the bottom three-Haley,Phil and Sanjaya/Chris
