Jordin was awesome last night! ..so good she made Simon want to jump off a bridge, haha!  I seriously don't get these judges sometimes ..always talking about emoting, and then when someone sings a sad song and makes them feel that emotion they criticize?  Maybe I'm misreading Simon, but I took it as a negative comment.  For me it was easily the best performance of the season so far.

Katatonic Fan calling Sanjaya "unclassifiable" =   Howard Stern is campaigning hard for this guy.  He took several calls this morning from people reporting how many votes they got in for ole Sanjo ..and yesterday he did a phone interview with the owner of VFTW.com.  You can definitely feel the momentum building in his fans voting to keep Sanjaya in it as long as possible.  It's time for TPTB to pull the trigger and invoke their right to override the public vote on this one for the sake of the shows credibiltiy, even though at this point it is pretty well known where all these votes are coming from.

Random thoughts:  Both Phil and Lakisha have great vocal ability, but neither do anything for me.  I leave Melinda out of this group because I have enjoyed some of her performances, but not last nights..  Blake and his beat-boxing can be awesome at times, but he does need to be careful not to overdo it.  Gina's trying hard to please the judges, and I think it's actually hurting her right now.  Is it just me or does Haley sound a lot like Olivia Newton John?  Stephanie is forgettable.  Richardson is 'aight.  Sligh is bringing chubby back!

Jordin owns season VI.

Spree - I was waiting on you, lol.  I knew you would get ticked at those comments.  He definitely is the "coolest, hippest one" in the bunch and will be marketable as hell.  Also, I know someone who ran into him and Chris Sligh at the Cheesecake Factory last week and they said he is a hottie (I know Steph, the Brown Nosers friend, will like hearing that).  Okay, Steph - you've definitely earned some brownie points you're a "McBlake" fan.  Also, Kat said she likes Blake too - so we're all in good company.

I know I'm late but here it is:

Screen Name: Misha515

1. Melinda Doolittle
2. LaKisha Jones
3. Blake Lewis
4. Jordin Sparks
5. Chris Sligh
6. Chris Richardson
7. Gina Glocksen
8. Sanjaya Malakar
9. Phil Stacy
10. Haley Scarnato
11. Stephanie Edwards

Hi Misha515,  You submitted your Top 12 last week; however, I had to throw out your selection of Brandon because you submitted it after the deadline.  Just so you know, the Top 12 selections can not be changed.  Each week; however, you will submit your selection of who you think will be eliminated on each Tuesday by 2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT.  Also, if you do not submit your selection by the deadline, then your entry will be whoever you selected on your Top 12 selection -  this rule applies to everyone, based on that; your selection for this week was Haley.  I hope that makes sense.    Feel free to post any questions you may have.

I must say something about Lakisha Jones. Lakisha is head to head with Melinda in this competition. Both of them singing Shirley Bassey on top 11 performances. WOW! Fantastic! I'm a big fan of Shirley Bassey and both Melinda and Lakisha.
At the beginning of the season, my best choices were Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, Blake and Sundance. Then I was surprised Sundance got the boot so early. I thought that was a very big mistake. Upon review of the videos and mp3's, I made up my mind and I'm putting back Lakisha to number 2 spot next to Melinda. Lakisha is a solid vocalist and can be in the finals, no doubt. Jordin has a lot of potential and is improving by the week and coming close to be on top 3 with Melinda and Lakisha. Sorry, now, I'm putting Blake on 4th place. Blake's vocals are not as nearly convincing as Melinda's or Lakisha's. He's a great performer, though, with his innovations and dance moves and I still support him-- he's from my state.

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Here are my predictions:

screenname: shinamarih
AI boot-ee this week: Sanjaya Malakar (God, I do hope he really goes this week.)

1. Melinda
2. Jordin
3. Lakisha
4. Blake
5. Chris R.
6. Stephanie
7. Chris S.
8. Gina
9. Haley
10. Phil
11. Sanjaya

Is this right? Joe? Co?

Yes, that's good.  You got a "zero" for last week so you're "penalized" I guess but now you're good.  You still get credit for the points you had in the semifinal rounds.

OK, now that I've gotten the book keeping out of the way here are my thoughts about last night's Idol performances.

I've already professed my love for Jordin here so...no one will ever replace Katharine for me but I do love me some Jordin Sparks.  That performance reminded me of some of Katharine's better ones.  Kind of had a "Someone To Watch Over Me" feel to it.  A little different kind of song but just how I felt about it afterward.

I just don't get Lakisha I guess.  I'm not going to tell you that she isn't a great singer.  Of course she is!  But it takes more than that to win American Idol.  And she just doesn't have IT.  What's her thing you can grab onto aside from the big voice?  We've seen big voice singers before get eliminated way before they should before.  I think that's going to happen to Lakisha.  She doesn't have that endearing quality to her that Melinda does.  And naturally the two of them get lumped together because of their style and that they are older than the other females left.

Blake's the top guy without a doubt.  Although I think Chris Richardson's going to be around longer than I predicted.  I forget where I put him.  Top Six will probably be Jordin, Melinda, Lakisha, Blake and the two Chris's at this point.

Yeah, I put Chris R at #7...had Gina in the Top Six.  If I could adjust that now, I would.

Someone else I'd adjust upward is Haley.  I think she's figured out that she's got to take advantage of her looks if she wants to stick around.  She's a decent singer but she can't hold a candle to the other girls on the show.  So what do you do?  Well....America, meet Haley's fantastic legs!  And add a little jiggle factor to the performance as well.  I almost felt like Tyra last night watching her, "I could see you jiggle when you walked out!"  Something about Haley's voice that falls a little flat but she'll be around a little while longer.

The people in trouble tonight are Phil & Stephanie.  It should be Sanjaya...I'm resigned to the fact that it probably won't be.  I hope it's Phil more than Stephanie but if you pressed me to pick...I'd say Stephanie is going home tonight.

Great review Mattsie!  I agree with everything except, Sanjaya being most improved - he was better.  They all did seem to be a little more comfortable.  Haley looked adorable tonight, I think Simon got a little excited.   You forgot to add the little girl in the audience, that was just priceless during Sanjaya, and at the end of the show - it made for great TV.

Unfortunately, I think it may be Stephanie or Phil going home - I think Sanjaya may be on the tour.

Thanks for the comment, Co. Anyway, sorry, I forgot to mention the little girl, Ashley--she was Idol Star struck and it was really great for TV. I have enjoyed this week's performances. If I must add something, I'd like to say something about Stephanie. Between her and Phil, I think it's a toss up as to who will go home tonight. I like to keep the girl but she may not have been voted well last night based on the comments of the judges, although I disagree with Simon. It's really just a matter of who will go home next from hereon up to my choice of top 3, who I really care so much about, in this competition, anyway. But of course, it's great fun watching and hearing good vocalists like Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin. And, yes, I would pay to see these three perform.

We're getting all girls top 3, I believe. (same as the Fantasia-Digarmo-Trias year) But this year's all girls top 3 would be in a different league, by a mile. Year 2004 for AI would have been much better if Jennifer Hudson and LaToya London were on the top 3 with Fantasia Barrino. They were the better vocalists that year. Ciao...--mattsie

(FYI spree) I have always liked Blakes singing and beatboxin and thought he was the best
male. Believe me...if i didn't, he surely woulldn't be #3 on my list.
It's a singing competition!!!!!!!! And IMO he's over playin the beatbox part and i think it
might come back to bite him early. Got my opinion and you got yours!

I'm with you sjwolves!!Jordin is IT....she has the IT factor that is sorely lacking with Lakisha and Melinda!!The latter may be great vocalists, but especially Lakisha shows little emotion or command of the stage! Jordin has animation, passion, personality and she's beautiful to boot!As for Haley, her voice lacks power and projection and legs do not a singer make!!She's such a Kat wannabe....not even close!!Jordin and Blake in the final 2!!!!!!

Well first of all, a question for everyone. Would you pay money to see any of these folks in concert? I certainly wouldn't. Except maybe Hayley but not necessarity for her singing lol. Obviously Sanjaya SHOULD go home but I don't think he will. If I were to se them for free I woukl leave when he came on but anyway.

IMO the bottow three will be Sanjaya, Phil and Stephanie and they will pull the same thing as last week getting the final 2 as Sanjaya and probably Phil this week. And Phil goes home.

Hey raw numbers on DialIdol have Phil, Stephanie and LAKISHA as the bottom three. So we know how absurd they are at his point.

But it seems that Phil goes home to me and that tour goers will have to put up with seeing possibly the most untalented performer on the most untalented tour yet. Hey I'd rather watch Covais than this kid.

You see Bill, dialidol was exactly right. You can't go by the raw numbers; they just show who the dialidol voters are voting for. The magic of what makes dialidol deadly accurate at this point in the competition is how they measure the busy signals and regionally weight the results. Later in the competition they lose accuracy because of two reasons: #1 regional phone line saturation and #2 much higher percentage of text voting, which dialidol can't track.

really? she said that? that's cool, i like Blake since i saw him top24, and im not a Gina fan, and Kat said she likes Gina, but i didnt care about Gina, sorry, so this is cool news to me! i hope she gets to like Jordin eventually, lol...

im a little worried that Blake might rely on the beatboxing too much, i mean, he's cool doing those, but like everyone's saying it might get a little old, especially if he keeps bringing it out every single performance. he should at least try not to do it for about 2 weeks, coz yea i think he's gonna be around for a long time, so that after that everyone's gonna start longing for the beats.  but anyways, right now, im still there rooting for whatever he does, i hope he stays hot in the competition, coz he definitely brings something new to the show.

as for Chris R.  he's climbing up there, i think one more solid performance from him might seal the deal for him in the top5 at the least.  he's gaining new fans, like me, he's hot too, so that aint bad at all. i doubt he'll win this thing, though... but he's good eye candy, like i said.. oh did i mention he's cute?

for Chris S. i dont like him at all, doesnt connect too much for me, i found his 1st audition more interesting than the ones he's been doing onstage so far.. he's really like Taylor for me (not the best singer at all, but oozing with personality), the only difference is, i actually liked Taylor's song choices, but Chris' i never ever get it. and i think he might be the next after Phil, Sanjaya, and Stephanie.

hmm, what do i say about Sanjaya Malakar? well, i said this before, he reminded me of Jackson 5 singing "ABC" when i first saw him perform during the semis.  he's cute but he's just about as boring as  dried leaves to me, oh even more boring! he's just not ready, and he's performance is like a -10 on a scale of 1-100. i sooo want him to go home now.

Stephanie is the junior Beyonce, but that's not good at all, coz Beyonce's Beyonce, it's different from being compared to Whitney or Mariah or Christina, coz well, these 3 are like sooo versatile, but Beyonce's like, she's got that unique style that only Beyonce can do, so when you are compared to her, youre gonna end up a copycat.  plus, i forgot she's only 19, she acts a little older than her, but she's pretty, but she's in that lump with Melinda and LaKisha, and that's not good too. she could go home coz she doesnt have the fanbase i believe..

Melinda.. she is going to end up at the Finale, but i hope she shows some flaws sometimes, just to remind us that she's still human, and not an angel... i fear that if she keeps getting rave reviews, people might get bored with her.. show some little imperfection there Melinda! but im still rooting for her, good things happen to good people.. either Melinda or Blake could end up at the Finale with Jordin IMO.

LaKisha, gosh im beginning to not like her, she's at the same level for me as Haley, i so-so like her. but i would not mind much if she goes home. she's a good singer but she's boring me to death now, she's so predictable, plus, she doesnt have the IT factor for me, as opposed to what the judges kept on shoving in our faces.. if she goes home earlier than what people expected, i would not be surprised.

Haley, hmm, i must admit i felt sorry for her when she started crying during the top12. i admire her being so into the competition that it got the better of her, it shows she's human... and now she's rejuvenated, and feeling more confident. not the best singer, but i do hope she goes home later than Sanjaya and Phil and Chris S.!!! she's definitely waaay better than those 3!

Phil... i dont like him, he creeps me out, and he makes bad song choices... i actually like Sanjaya better than him come to think of it. or ok, maybe theyre in equal footing for me..

Gina... i almost forgot about her! well, i think she's trying too hard to be a rocker chick. i mean she is at best when she does those Evanescence type of songs, but she doesnt have much power, and vocal control, and lacks control also when performing.. i hope she improves though, i think she also brings something different on the show, and we can use some girly angst once in a while.. but i think, she's gonna make i think top 8 the most based on what ive seen from her so far.

Jordin! im betting on her to win this! i hope i get this right... im feeling this good vibes the way i felt good vibes about Carrie being the AI4 champ early in the competition, and Kat being in the Finale also early in the competition.. she's got the whole package, and plus she's only 17!!! people say age is nothing, but you gotta be impressed by that! she's better than Diana DeGarmo i believe, and her voice is more interesting, Diana's more broadway-y... Jordin as the AI6 WINNER!!!

Agree with ya Joe.  I see Jordin as the Big 'It' Girl, FIRST, Melinda and Blake fighting it out for SECOND and LaKisha is this season's Mandisa.  Haley is this season's hottie.

I believe Kat knows Blake from back in her days spending summers with her grandparents in Washington.  Apparently, they sang in the choir together.  And then she knows Gina from last year's Idol Hollywood round.  That's why she said she likes them.  I don't know if she was picking them to win the competition when she said that.

Anyway...SCORING ALERT.  I've discovered a serious flaw in my scoring system so I'm going to change it on the fly here.  Still the same basic concept but instead of making each individual on your ballot worth a certain amount...each week will be worth that amount.  It'll be easier to calculate this way and I can ditch the "Max Points" thing.

So last week was worth 2 points.  1 for Brandon, 1 for elimination pick (which of course were the same).  So you either got 2 points or 0 points.

This week is worth 3 points.  2 points for 11th place plus 1 point for the elimination picks.  Now, no one got Stephanie right in their elimination picks.  And also nobody had Stephanie for 11th place.  In fact, only one person had her for 10th place.  So what's that mean?

Here's how the scoring goes from now on.  Each week the point level increases.  Top 12 was 1 pt, Top 11 is 2 pts, Top 10 will be 3 pts all the way up to the finale which will worth 11 & 12 points (Top 2 & 1 same night).  So if you are correct you get the weekly maximum total (this week 2 pts).  If not, you lose 1 pt for every place you are wrong...the worst you can do is 0 points for the week.

With that in mind.  Here's the results through Top 11 Results Night:
