I think we are just so used to Katharine being so confident and mature and articulate (despite the overuse of "like") that we expect the other older idols to be so too. Case in point - Chris in the homemade Billboard Awards video. It was like Katharine was the older, more mature and far more articulate of the two, she led the way, she was the one "in charge". Chis was reduced to repeating himself about "looking hot" and letting out a woop like a teenager. Ok, so he doesn't have her experience being in the public eye (hmmmm...pause to think - no he doesn't, he has the idol tour and that is about it, Katharine has that as well as endless other interviews and public appearances) and he has a crush on her and that was her BF behind the camera, but still - dude is what, 28? and our little girl is only 22, and she "owned him" (to use the current vernacular.)
The last time we saw Katharine and Taylor together was the Ford thing and there it was Katharine who stepped up and made the gracious speech while Taylor was reduced to a few mumbled thank yous.
Yup, when it comes to non-perfoming public appearances, our girl wins there too.
This simple fact is this. Katharine fits in with the Hollywood/media scene and Taylor doesn't. That's not slamming Taylor. It's just a fact. That doesn't mean Taylor isn't an entertaining guy when he performs. And I like him as a person. He just isn't natural doing interviews. Could you really see Taylor doing an hour on Dr Ablow and being fascinating the whole time?
I saw him on Megan Mullally today and he did look more comfortable on there. Probably because he knew she wasn't going to ask him any tough questions since she admitted to voting for him 700 something times.
