For most of us who are wondering if Kellie's TV career will indeed take off, here's something for you to munch on, Fox is actually developing the sitcom, read on:

FOX and 19E Develop Sitcom for Kellie Pickler

Kellie Pickler not only has the #1 Country CD this week with her new release "Small Town Girl", but according to Variety, Fox is developing a half-hour sitcom around her:

Pickler will play a naive small-town Southern girl -- a character based on herself -- who discovers that her biological father is the state's well-respected governor. His presidential dreams are put in jeopardy, but the two form a father-daughter relationship that winds up helping his standing in the polls.

The project is produced by Twentieth Century Fox, Watson Pond and 19E. Watson Pond's Brad Johnson and 19's Simon Fuller and Malcolm Young will executive produce.

Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore, most recently from That 70's Show, are on board as writers and creators.  The project has landed a script order.

I am hoping that this will take off, Kellie's a natural!

This is all very exciting for Kellie and it shouldn't be too much of a stretch for her to play a naive small town country girl. I hope this venture is successful for Kellie's sake. It sounds like it could be really funny.

This almost sounds like a satire piece that snuck into the mainstream...though ironic that it's actually a real article talking about a potential satirical show starring Kellie. The way the world works today gets more complicated all the time.

Yes, this has been talked about in legit media before...so it looks like it's going to happen. I'm amazed, though I remember people saying on the 'AI' board that they thought Kellie would be great in a sitcom of some sort. Kellie's the true Dolly Parton of today. A talented singer...plus funny as Dolly was and is. Yet, in reality, they're both much, much smarter than they let on...at least in an intuitive business sense.

Fox has had a lot of unusual shows that I thought would never make it--though actually did. It's really a hotbed network for unusual and sometimes more inventive sitcoms that would likely bite the dust on ABC, CBS (ha, CBS wouldn't air this in a lifetime) or NBC. While I'm not always a fan of what Fox puts on their airwaves...I give them credit for trying to get more creative sitcoms into the fray.

It's truly gratifying to see people like Chris and Kellie become so popular when people said in the past that they'd do well. I just thought that was the nice thing to say at the time...and the reality would be that they wouldn't make it into 2007. Well, the reality is that people DO love them and are taking them to the very top. 'AI' has now proven itself as a force to be reckoned with in discovering true singing stars of tomorrow. Whether they'll get respect in the other parts of the music industry for that will remain to be seen.

Interesting that 19E is co-producing Kellie's sitcom. I think this is the first time 19E has produced a TV show for an idol that was voted off, am I right? Maybe they produced Fantasia's biopic on Lifetime since she's still under their contract I think. This is proof, though, that 19E doesn't necessarily want to stick with music. If Kat stays under the 19E banner a while longer--that means they could set up deals for her in TV shows or maybe even movies. Plus, a guest-starring bit on Kellie's sitcom is inevitable...
