11 year old Bianca Ryan took home $1 million for singing on ‘America’s Got Talent.’

An 11-year-old Philadelphia girl with grown-up singing skills captured the finale Thursday of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” — and claimed the $1 million prize. When Bianca Ryan’s name was announced, the 11-year-old’s jaw dropped and she could barely answer host Regis Philbin’s questions.“You all right? Bianca, how do you feel darling? You OK?” Philbin said. Oh my god, I don’t even know!” a stunned Ryan said as tears streamed down her face.                       The program was created by “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell and FremantleMedia, the company that produces the Fox hit singing contest.

Yep, someone on this site linked me to a vid of her singing a while back, and I was absolutely blown away by her talent. Go, Bianca!

I pretty much had it with 'America's Got Talent'--so I missed the finale. Though I knew Bianca Ryan would win when I first heard her sing. We're truly dealing with a pool of talent out there that gets younger by the day. I don't think this country's seen someone who can sing with that much maturity at only 11 in quite a long time. So something's in the...milk.

It's pretty obvious, though, that BR won't be any threat to Kat's talent. They're both completely different singers (and a whopping 11 years apart!)--so Bianca can carve her own niche very easily. BR reminds me a little of those hard-edged blues singers in the vein of Janis Joplin or Joss Stone. I think that'll probably be her true calling card.

Perhaps it'll be a bit scary, though, for an 11-year-old trying to find her way through the insanity of the music business. In my opinion, you should be at least over 18 before you get into that business so you can have some sense of maturity and true realization of what you have to deal with. Though major talent shouldn't have to wait to be recorded. Let's just hope that her parents are smart and will handle her money well until she's 18...assuming she gets a record contract from winning this.

Oh, and let's all say our prayers of thanks right this minute for one major thing: The rapping granny DIDN'T win.

As good as she is, I don't think she is even close to Kat's voice and control. No doubt, for an 11 year old, she's amazing. But in absolute term, she's only ok to me. For example, I believe she sang a song (I forgot which) that Lisa Tucker had also sung in AI. To me, she can't even touch Lisa, let alone Kat.

But imagine how she would sound like when she's finally of age!! We may have another superstar in our midst..in the meantime, her parents should wisely invest/use/spend her money in developing her already mind-blowing gift, and make sure she finishes her formal education before jumping right in the biz.

I believe proper training and discipline will make her one of the best vocalists around. I can already see her name on marquees alongside greats like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, KATHARINE MCPHEE, and a whole lot more.
