Idol runner-up sings to same record label as winner Taylor Hicks.
Sometimes, doing your own thing pays off.
American Idol runner-up Chris Daughtry has signed his very own record deal with 19 Recordings, a division of RCA Records owned by Clive Davis and Idol cocreator Simon Fuller. The deal makes Daughtry label-mates with Idol champion Taylor Hicks as well as second-place runner-up Katherine McPhee.
According to People, Daughtrey is already lining up A-list collaborators to work in his first record. The rocker is also forming a new band to record material with.
Hours after Daughtry has gotten the boot on the top-rated reality show, rock band Fuel had offered him the spot of lead singer. Daughtry respectfully declined, telling his local newspaper, The Charlotte Observer, "I want to do my own thing."
Yes, Chris is H-O-T!!!! His wife is sooooo lucky to be with him and it seems like they love each other soooo much! I am sooo glad to hear that we will be hearing much more from Chris!! I truely believed that Chris and Katherine were going to be the final two, and maybe Taylor right behind them. Oh well, everything happens for a reason right?
