Twenty-year-old Ramiele Malubay may be pint-sized, but she's got a big powerhouse voice and has quickly become a fan favorite on "American Idol," even though her personality seems to be a bit lacking. Ramiele brings up memories of Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee, who could belt no doubt, but really didn't seem to have the charisma or pizzazz that the eventual winner (Tayor Hicks) did. If Ramiele wants to capitalize on her big, soulful voice to the full extent, she needs to show some more personality on the show, some more zest. And please, some more uptempo songs, no more "Malubay Lullabies!"
No charisma?!?!? Lacking in personality?!?! Unbelievable! That's why Kat went as far as she did, she was quirky, funny and goofy, if that ain't personality, I don't what is. Ramiele, on the other hand, has shown us a lot of who she is off-cam, maybe they're seeing different contestants than we do.
Sorry, double post. Old slow computer makes me nuts sometimes.
As far as personality of Ramiele and Katharine are concerned, they are both sweet and warm, but Ramiele doesn't strike me as someone who could be feisty as to retort "I didn't pick it". Katharine might be bolder in some ways. However, I have to say that Ramiele has also a beautiful voice but she needs to sing a certain kind of music or those songs that fall within her range, shall I say, that best suits her pipes. When she sings the low notes, her voice doesn't sound strong enough and the lyrics seem to get cut out, like how Kady Malloy did her "Magic Man", but both Ramiele and Kady could stretch to a higher range powerfully, though. As opposed to Kristy's vocal calesthenics, KLC's low and high notes come across as strong and powerful. If I were to give advice to Ramiele, I would say, get a vocal coach before trying to record an album, and that is to give her guidance, after all, she's only 20. But of course, I will buy Ramiele's cd.
Ramiele, I'm sure you are missed by your fans. You have a beautiful voice. My very best to you and your music career.
