Player 4 - Screen Name: DJ CoBaby Two Males: Luke Menard and David Hernandez Two Females: Amanda Overmeyer and Kady Malloy
Co's Analysis: I think the sisters will be safe, we had an overabundance of blondes for a change, go blondes! But, the best blondes must remain that appeal to masses, KLC is beautiful and Brooke has the appeal to the older/hippie generation and Simon seems quite smitten over her. This will be the first year that only two African American females will be in the Top 12, so ponder your decision before eliminating Asia'h and Syesha - the last couple tours have always had two-three sisters (Season 4 - Nadia and Vonzell; Season 5 - Mandisa, Paris and Lisa; and Season 6 - Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin (inter-racial). Also, there hasn't been an African American male on the tour since Season 4 (Niko and Anwar), I really hope Chikezie makes it, plus he is good and he's charming. You also gotta think about the popularity of the contestant and factor in demographics and stuff like that, hope this helps . . . who knows how I'll do, but I'm usually at 50%.
Arrangements have been made, according to some sources, for the following songs. If true, it looks like these are the songs to be sung. But we don't know who to sing what. At least, one (out of 8, not 16, that I chose) was picked. LOL.
Everytime You Go Away - Paul Young What About Love - Heart Tainted Love - Soft Cell The Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston Father Figure - George Michael Open Arms - Journey Rebel Yell - Billy Idol The Rose - Bette Midler Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes Celebration - Kool and the Gang Call Me - Blondie Always Something There to Remind Me - Naked Eyes Whats Love Got to Do With It - Tina Turner Hurts So Good - John Cougar Mellencamp We Built This City - Jefferson Starship Every Breath You Take - The Police
Co, nice analysis. I could believe it too. Consider this, seasons 5 and 6 had 3 sisters on the top 12, but there have never been 3 blondes on the top 12 in any season (?). Correct me there. Let's explore the blonde kingdom for a season, then. So, I am banking on the blondes this time. I have nothing against the sisters personally. It's just that the fun have switched lanes and I'm beating every traffic light to get to that lane. Like what Bill said, "Times have changed". Bill, Joe, Maddie, GHH, shinamarih, and me - we want the blondes to stay. More power to KLC, KM, and BW!!
Something could go wrong tonight. As of late, I've heard over the radio about David Hernandez, Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado, and Amanda Overmyer could be possibly leaving. I reviewed their ages, and it could be plausible. We'll see.
That would leave Luke Menard (29), Danny Noriega (18), Chikezie Eze (22), David Cook (25), David Archuleta (17) and Michael Johns (29) as the top 6 boys.
That would leave Asiah Epperson (19), Ramiele Malubay (20), Kady Malloy (18), Kristy Lee Cook (24), Carly Smithson (24) and Brooke White (24) as the top 6 girls.
Note: Do we have to have teenagers on the top 12? I think so. I could agree with this, though. In that case, my picks to go could be wrong.
Kady and Asiah are the only 18, 19 year olds left on the girls. They must stay.
Danny and David A are the only 17, 18 year olds left on the boys. They must stay.
According to some other articles today--Hernandez will stick around on the show. This, via anonymous sources at "Idol", which means Nigel Lythgoe is just trying to deflect blame to someone else in the inner circle. I guess that's one way to keep the angry letters from overflowing on your personal fax machine and in your email server.
Ok, I'm in here right on the wire--so excuse my lateness. This is the start of a very busy week for me, and being 11th hour may be the way it'll have to be from now until the end of the show.
My choices for the two male eliminees is really a toss-up, even though Luke Menard is slowly turning into our 2008 equivalent of Sanjaya. Menard isn't horrible--yet he should have gone home in the first week. So he's our "best bet" card each week. For the second male, I, too, wish Danny Noriega would go home. He may not, though I don't really know how he managed to get into the Top 24--other than just being a unique personality that they always look for to fit their official "AI" archetypes. Chikezie has certainly improved exponentially. Despite some of us picking him to go in the first week, I thought he still had possibilities. Jason Castro apparently isn't related to Fidel, though I'm beginning to think that he may show his weakness tonight when singing without his guitar prop. Some singers need that guitar and can't sing without it.
It all comes down to Castro or Noriega going home--with my edge going to Noriega. Sounds like a dictator rogue's gallery...
For the women, I'm shocked and awed that people still pick Kristy Lee Cook and Kady Malloy to go this week. As shaky as they've been--I'm more than sure the public will keep them there based on the knowledge of talent. Heck, even Mattsie's 100+ votes for Kady tonight should make a tremendous difference. But if it wasn't for those profile videos (that, incidentally, still don't give us a complete picture of who these people are...and probably never will)--The two K's probably would be gone already. Personally, I think Amanda Overmyer's gravel rocker voice isn't going to go over well for very long. Most people see a more limited Janis Joplin impersonator there whenever she utters a single note. And that gets tiresome after a while when the novelty gets old. Asia'h Epperson is probably the second weakest (vocally and through personality) with Amanda. So with all that in mind...

One note about the David Hernandez fiasco: We're unfortunately entering a new era of Idols getting dirt dug up on them almost every year now. Hopefully the person hired to scour the net looking to drag these people through the mud gets paid well--or otherwise he or she just wasted hours of their life making the world a darker place. Not that some in the media possibly care as they reside in their own little bubble of naivete.
In any case, we're going to have to expect this from now on--and I wouldn't be surprised if "AI" starts requiring background checks (if it can be done legally) before picking a Top 24. Don't be surprised if it does happen...because "AI" is almost as powerful as Big Brother Gov't lately...
I agree race and hair color shouldn't have anything to do with it, but you do need to factor in these things when you had 4 blondes, which did confuse people and the one that stands out the most, RE: Voice, looks, likability, etc. will get the votes. Unfortunately, poor Alaina was lacking something, which resulted in her getting an early exit - I think it was just blonde confusion.
I also agree "Give me the 10 best singers," but that's not the way this American Idol thing works other factors come in to play too, so for us playing the pool those are some things we look out for.

POOL UPDATE: It looks like all selections were made in time with the exception of zzyzx (who I believe is opting out this season, due to be away from a PC) and a3boymom. I will enter the selections after work, enjoy the shows!
