Kat, what do you think are the most important qualities in any person?

Rhine,
  I like qualities in a person that consist of a positive outlook on
life. Someone who is always seeking the best in themselves and in
others. Someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously. I love it
when someone makes me laugh and isn't embarrassed to make fun of
themselves and situations. I think someone who is constantly interested
in what life has to offer makes for a very great friend,lover,sister,
mother,work partner, etc... I hope that answered you question. Thank

Kim,
  My most earnest desire of my heart...hmmm... good one!! well a house
made of chocolate and all the animals in the world! Hahaha! Just
kidding. No, to be honest it's quite simple. When you take away all of
the sudden success and "Famous" people that I have meet and cool things
I have done it really comes down to the basics of what I want out of
life. In my heart of hearts I just want to be able to perform for my
living to touch peoples hearts and to come home to my husband and
beautiful children who are all healthy and have joy in their life. Hope

It seems to me – and millions of other Kat fans - that you are destined for a very long and successful career which will likely include movies, music, Broadway, and whatever other creative endeavors you choose to pursue. The opportunities that lay ahead of you will present new challenges each day, and my question to you is, given the magnitude of what you are about to undertake, what three things will you rely on most in order to sustain you through the exciting challenges ahead and help you make the kinds of career decisions that will allow you to fulfill yourself as a performer while at the same time remaining as close as you possibly can to your wonderful essence as a person?

  what a great question!! Well this question was very similar to what I
tried to keep in mind during the whole show, to remember what's
important in life and remembering where I came from. I guess the three
things I will rely on are close family and friends, God, and maybe one
or two people who I really trust in the business. Like I said I think
it's all about remembering where you came from and not forgetting that
just a year ago I was working in a show that paid $20 a performance. If
I had to go back to it I would because even then I was glad to do it
because at least I was doing it! To me the gift of this all is in the
giving. I hope I made sense. Best to you in all you do. Xxx

With the amount of exposure "American Idol" has, the contestants become instant celebrities. Fame brings its share of joys, but also its hardships. How have you dealt with negative reactions and unfair critical assessments? I ask this because I myself sing, but always find it hard to put myself on the line when it comes to performing. I'm a generally self conscious person, and I wanted to know how you overcame whatever inhibitions you had.

Jake,
  I think that overcoming insecurities is a life long job. As I'm sure
you know I have had my share with it all ready, and it will always
continue and manifest itself in different ways. But I think it is
definitely something we should all try and work on in life so that we
can be the best we can be. Because I truly believe we are the only ones
who really hold ourselves back from what we really want in life. I know
I held myself back from things. So getting to the real answer to your
question I guess would be that you really only have one life to live.
So why let what others think of you hold you back when were all gonna
die anyway? HA! And I say that as lightheartedly as possible. Do what
you need to do to feel good about who you are. If that means seeing
someone on a weekly basis then I say go for it. Also if you do end up
working in this field don't read the Internet. People write really mean
things. I have to admit I have come across some mean things that people
have written and it is definitely is hurtful. I try and read the fans
sites as much as possible to be where there are positive people in the
world but even still you have to be careful. I hope this helped you. I
wish you the best of luck to you Jake. Don't give up on yourself! Xxx

a) leave you alone
b) stare at you from a safe distance
c) say HI and wave
d) come up and introduce themselves
e) introduce themselves and ask for pic and/or autograph
f) scream, cry, jump up and down, faint...

Mark,
  I really hearing from my fans. It is always surprises me and thrills
me to see all your faces. When I'm in public you can d) definitely come
up and say hi. You can also scream and cry and jump up and down if you
feel the need to. Whatever floats your boat. During dinner is the only
time I would say to kindly just wait till I'm finished just out of
respect for the other person I'm out with. But if I'm alone, GO to it!

  First of all Thank you soooo much for everything you put together for
me. I hope you got the picture of me with the blanket. You have gone
far and beyond your duties as a McPhan! I appreciate it sooo much. I
guess the one thing I would like to be remembered by would be that I
helped other people in need. I don't know exactly what that looks like
yet but I have been wanting to start a foundation for some sort service
to others. I guess you call it a humanitarian. Someone who care deeply
for others is what I would like most. Thank you again. I hope I get to

  hmmm... a true McPhan. How do you answer that? I love all my fans. I
think that you are all great and True McPhans and couldn't just single
one specific type of fan. But I guess a fanatic to me would be D)
spends a lot of time on the Internet looking for anything about me and
pledge to buy 10 Cd's of my 1st single!!! I mean gosh, don't you get
sick of me? haha You are all the best fans I could possibly imagine. Xxx

  I have done some song writing in the past. That's always been
something I have been interested in. There has been talk of some
collaboration for the album with some writers. I would love to have
some of my own tunes on my first album. Who knows how many but
hopefully at least one. I just want as much creative expression as

Kat, you have been forced to answer the same questions over and over again in the last few months, and have been very gracious about it.  What is one question, any question, you WISH would be asked, and what is the answer to that question?

Steve, 
 I guess the question and answer to that would be something along the lines of what kind of things in life are really important to you? So often through these press junkets we get asked very superficial questions. Not always but a lot of times. And I think you Steve, get the sense the questions in the end aren't really getting to who I am. That's why I have so appreciated these questions my fans have asked me. You guys are REAL reporters in my opinion. You have better questions then the paid professionals!! haha. But the answer would be things like good health in my family, having good friends around me, and being able to express myself creatively as a performer. I think for me it's important to find something that you love to do. If I couldn't do what I was doing now I can think of a few other things that would make me happy and I would try to pursue that as much as possible. Chad, THANK YOU SO MUCH For setting this up. That was so awesome reading all her answers,
Congrats to everyone who had their question answered.
I had to laugh when she said you can come up to me and cry if need be or jump up and down. honestly I'm sure that is what I would do, Jumping up and down and crying, and probably screaming too. I hope I do get to meet her when I see her on tour July 16th.
Yeah- Kat wants to come to NY when she's touring for her CD. I know I will be there.

You made my entire summer Kat. I looooved your answers (even though I didn't get my questions in in time...haha). It's so awesome that you remember Laurie (AI12345) and that you'd like to be a humanitarian, but I'm sorry that you've had to read some of the idiotic things people say on the internet. These are not well informed individuals, and they have no clue what they're spouting off about. Your fans LOVE you, and thats all that matters.

I'm being more long-winded than usual, but I've never written you fanmail before, so this is like my initiation even though...it's....just....a post on a message board, and you might not even read it.
