If I may be so bold -

This is the real Katharine McPhee. This is her future. The beautiful, elegant woman, performing on stage with real musicians, bantering with them, her beautiful voice and phrasings being heard, with the music supporting her, not drowning her out.

This is what she should be doing, Not competing with the likes of Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne on top 40 radio to make some forgetable song a hit for a couple of weeks.

That is how this looks to me anyway, even though we have no idea yet what she actually sang.

Wow! Kat looks beautiful as always. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall just to hear what she sang or said onstage. She looks like she is having fun. Hopefully, some video will surface soon! We can hope, can't we!

thanks a lot....
Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Truer words never spoken,Phee!!Not only was Kat stunning in that red dress,she looks like she had a blast being reunited with David and Babyface!The lucky audience was treated to the wonderful, unplugged Kat sound!Wish we knew what songs were sung.....

David Foster-David Foster,
He knew Kat's super talent the first time he heard her.She is in a class buy her self.No need to compete with the Tight Cliched top forty group.
They all compete.
with each other with mostly sexual tones and vibrations.
As I have said over and over again,David Foster will bring Katharine to a hight that will leave the others in "Dust".All fighting for the same audience
A Katharine McPhee comes along once in a lifetime,and as with Celene Dion-David Foster will again show why is has won -Fourteen Grammys

NO ring on the finger, Anybody else notice that? Correct me if I'm wrong but in order to be engaged doesn't both the man and the woman have to wear an engagement ring to make it official? Anyway aside from that statement there is no doubt that Katharine looks like she did when she was on American Idol. The atmosphere and the people she's with, this is the Katharine we all fell in love with in the first place. Such a Gorgeous red dress complimented with the glitter that makes her sparkle. Although I don't think she needs the glitter because she sparkles already. Love the photos with her and Foster, perhaps they could be doing some talking about career choices, we'll just have to find out when it happens.

Whoever provided the pictures, thank you very much, they are captivating.

Nope, no ring. Also what was quite obvious was that Katharine is totally comfortable and even happy singing ballads/standards and hanging with the likes of David Foster and Babyface. That fact excites me to think that these collaborations could happen in the not too far future.

DiehardKatfan, there's no legal, "official" recognition of engagement AFAIK - you're either married or you're not. Socially, you could say the ring is required.

The Post reporter confirmed that Kat sang OTR and another song that she didn't recognize. I'm guessing it was either IHN or Madonna's "Take a Bow," which Babyface composed and dueted on last month with Trisha Yearwood on CMT Crossroads.

Totally agree goodyatlanta!!I have been a David Foster fan for years and have several CDs of his original music for film.The man is a musical genius! David knows Kat is "a force to be reckoned with" so I am hoping he will be able to guide that force,as he has done with so many talented singers!!

I'm absolutely thrilled that someone was able to get the photos from the High Hopes Tribute Dinner. I guess Joanne at the Post just didn't ask for more than what was offered. I don't know who exactly to thank but, THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

^There's two Lefties having fun performing together. Too bad Lefty guitarist Babyface and Kat can't work together in the studio without Babyface running up a huge heat bill. Somehow I picture David Foster and Babyface giving each other the glare and telepathically telling each other: "She's mine...in the studio that is."

Thanks for all the photos (Kat glows in that red dress)--though it always drives us crazy when we see still pics of her performing...yet can't figure out what she's singing. But I think it was fairly cut and dry in what she was singing with no real surprises. Kat and David probably did 'IHN' or 'SOTR' as they did at the Carousel Ball last year.

And speaking of David Foster: Those two have a great stage rapport as you can see by that keeper photo up there. They could have a popular club show if they wanted to based on some of the bawdy banter they had when they performed last time. It's fun to see them do this at least once a year anyway. And apparently David said nothing negative about Taylor or we would have seen a blurry shot of Kat swatting David. This time, it appears DF was just plain gushing over Kat's talent based on her shoulder lean.

Actually, seeing Kat and Babyface makes me wonder if they performed 'Everywhere I Go' together. That song never took off...but I'm sure both of them wouldn't mind promoting it a little more...

katpack_15 from IDF received more info about Kat's involvement:

Kat did Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Alanis Morisette’s Mary Jane (at least I believe it was that one, it was Alanis Morisette and she seems to have done that one in the past) and then Run to You, which she performed with Nita Whitaker. She also joined Babyface at the end of Change the World (Nita was already doing backup), that how she’s onstage with him. David accompanied all the performers.

Joanne covers all the events, as did her colleague Bill Husted. The Rocky Mountain News (Penny Parker) had a small article and another local paper, The Villager, came out with an article today. A magazine called Colorado Expressions should have coverage in their next edition.

So we may be getting more pictures from this event!
