Since I'm usually the designated Kat TV Guide media person around here, here's yet another issue this week with a mention of Kat. I think this is at least a dozen mentions in TVG since last May...and let's assume that mentioning Kat last on that "Loss Leaders" list means the best is mentioned last. Let's wait for twenty years and read TV Guide then (maybe they'll go back to the small sized-issues) when they probably mention her as soaring way above all of those on the list when it comes to album sales and superstar power. In my mind, though, Kat's always had a "smokin'" look to her.

I suppose Blake will be in that box next year where Chris Daughtry is now. And, frankly, I think we'll see all of this year's Top Ten around various places for the next several years. Even Sanjaya could end up having a William Hungesque Christmas album next December...while, at the same time, serving Calamari to everybody on this list in a restaurant.

Here's the scan of the article...

Greg, I used to live near the headquarters of the original TV Guide in the Philly suburb of St. Davids.  Anyway, it's interesting to view American Idol now for more than just another entertaining TV show. It is an extraordinary stage for launching new stars like la belle Katharine McPhee!!!

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

That's interesting, Minnie. I'm a big fan of the old TV Guides from my childhood (70's and early 80's) and from before I was born. The covers were like works of art back then...plus an easier formatting inside. Now, it's like a trashy tabloid at times.  And I hate the larger 8x11 size they started several years ago. The only issue I've kept of the larger issues is the one with Kat/Taylor/Elliott on the cover. I don't know if that'll be a collectible cover--though some TV Guides from the past are worth a decent amount of money depending on who's on the cover. I don't think any will be worth as much as the first issue, though, that had Little Ricky on the cover from 'I Love Lucy' (circa 1953 I think). That's worth....one billion dollars. Yes, I highly exaggerate...but had to find some way of doing a Dr. Evil impersonation in here when it comes to old magazines worth a fortune.

I expect Kat to be back in TV Guide in another month. She's had a mention in there at least once or twice a month since last summer. Of course, that famous interview with a new pictorial back in January was the most extensive so far. That's the one where she chastised the 'AI' board and wished it'd be shut down.

Because 'AI' is such a fixture of television, it'll help keep her in the TV Guide eye--when she'd ordinarily  just stay in other magazines. She deserves another cover on there, though, even if it's because she's guest-starring on one of the 'CSI' or 'Law & Order' spinoffs someday soon. Nothing wrong with those kind of acting gigs to put on the resume--whether she has to play herself again or not.
