Mention of Kat in (Nov. 13-19) TV Guide...

All subscribers to TV Guide get next week's issue ahead in the mail--and I happened to notice getting the issue last night that Kat gets another glowing mention in that issue. It's actually an ad for 'AI Rewind' airing apparently on WGN (which my cable has never carried for some reason)--and how past 'AI' contestants changed their looks over time. TVG gives Kat the biggest kudos there as you can see. A (no slouch to begin with) comment is all anybody could ever ask for in your 'before' pictures.

From my perspective, only Clay Aiken seemed to change his appearance dramatically. And Jennifer Hudson seems to be getting primed by the media to be a major threat in the acting arena. If JH gets an Oscar for her role this year in 'Dreamgirls'--she could be some competition for Kat in acting down the road. Though, ultimately, Kat will have a much better music career...and possibly even have untold power or more sustained success in the acting arena too.

if they would have put like a audition picture of Kat in BEFORE then if you look at before and after it would have been a more dramatic change lol

haha yeah I noticed that... I thought she looked stunning the week of STWOM... but I guess not so much in TV Guide's book?  It's just different looks, not that she's better in one.

I do approve of the great publicity, though!

It's difficult to do a "before and after" comparison of Kat, because she'd be beautiful in either one all the time. I just think TV Guide can't resist featuring Kat as she will catch anyone's eyes and guarantee good magazine circulation. They just looked for any opportunity to get Kat in, and the "before and after" is as good as any.

I'm pleased to see Jennifer Hudson being recognized. She recently signed a record deal with Sony. Talent cannot stay hidden. They certainly all have changed and for the better!!

That before pic of Clay still looks like an after--though maybe an in-between the before and after. I don't recall him having black spiky hair in the second season of 'AI.' But he should have kept his original look...because he looks like Pee-Wee Herman's (Paul Reubens) hipper younger brother with that hair now.

You're welcome on the scan. I seem to be the official TV Guide scan guy whenever Kat appears in there--and I have a feeling she'll be appearing in there more times in coming months. That issue back in May with Kat on the cover with Elliott and Taylor is a classic, which I preserved. Once Kat gets on TV more often, she'll likely be on the cover again...with maybe an in-depth interview and photoshoot to help make the new TV Guide format classier. Yes, it feels like reading a tabloid in the last year instead of the old TV Guide I grew up with.

It's interesting that a lot of people think Kat was so transformed in her appearance the last six months--when I think even this writer of the article preferred the "before" Kat just as much. It just shows that most people find the down-to-earth Kat that we all saw in the beginning the most appealing...because it's the true her. You could still tell she was beautiful even when not dressed up, and it's no different now. But I always look forward to the times when she's just dressed down a tad at those Hollywood events. The Esquire event was a perfect example of that and how Kat can balance the glamorous with the casual. As stunning as Kat was dressed up to the nines, I hope she'll do that balance of glamour and casual style more often at various events so we won't think she has an alter ego going around.

Incidentally, Jennifer Hudson's before pic looks like something taken in the 80's rather than at the beginning of 2006.
