Whether or not Nicole Richie seeks professional treatment for her weight issues, American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee is offering the pin-thin starlet help — if she wants it. “I have sympathy and compassion for her,” McPhee, 22, who waged a 5-year battle with bulimia, told Star at the Carousel of Hope Ball on Oct. 28. “If she wants some extra support she can always call me.” It sounds like Nicole, 22, will need it: after checking into the Beau Monde treatment center on Oct. 26, the Simple Life star checked out less than 72 hours later after she was told she couldn’t go shopping. She might want to consider McPhee’s offer.

That is a very great thing for Katharine to offer. Let's just hope Nicole takes the offer. That is really sweet of Kat!

I sincerely hope that Ms. Richie takes her up on the offer.  It would seem that Katharine has the one thing that Nicole doesn't - determination and commitment. Hopefully, she could help Ms. Richie to get her priorities in order before she causes herself irreperable damage.

I wonder if Nicole would want to take her up on it... who knows, I  just hope she gets the help she needs before it's too late.

I hope Nicole takes Katharine's offer--because Nicole would learn a tremendous amount about how to live life and eat in a well-balanced way if she did. Anybody should be so lucky to get an offer from Katharine to help change their life for the better. Unfortunately, people like Nicole Ritchie (and many other females working in the insanity of Hollywood) are utterly lost in the frightening trends of the Hollywood industry. And I can't really blame them entirely, because it's so easy to get caught up in it without some proper guidance. Having good friends who have some level of sanity (and experience with the same problems) are what these people need. Sometimes I think Kat's truly the only sane voice in Hollywood right now. And that's something powerful on its own.

Let's just hope Nicole isn't too selfish to not accept this offer. Otherwise, we may be looking at true Hollywood tragedy again from an eating disorder. At least she's admitting to it in the press that she needs to get her diet moderated.

If people are willing, Kat could really be a great friend in the Hollywood community. Because she's such a strong voice of reason and sanity, she could potentially help a lot of people who feel lost in an industry that really has a lot of corrupt labels. Likewise, I hope there's truly good mentors for Kat in her own industry to help guide her through her own paths that might be perilous down the road. It appears she's developing quite a few--even though you need to keep your own head when dealing with industry pressures. It ultimately comes down to your own decision-making when it comes to how you live your life in Hollywood.

It seems that Nicole Richie is in denial about her eating disorder. She is also of the mindset that Hollywood high profile people should be stick thin. I hope that she accidentally encounters Katharine somewhere. It may be the best thing for her.

I think it's wonderful that Kat is not afraid of attaching herself to something that has a bad stigma.  We all know that Nicole Richie is usually in tabloids for all the wrong reasons and that she's had a lot of problems besides her eating disorder.  For Kat to be so welcoming and willing to help Nicole still shows me that she's a true star.  She's not afraid of doing something that may be frowned upon because she's in cahoots with the wrong people.  All you see is her kindness and generosity.  That's why I love the girl.

it has been said that she has tried to gain weight but CAN NOT and that she was going to people for help to figure out why. Who knows if that is the truth or not or if she actually has an eating disorder or not, I think it is WRONG for the tabliods to talk about it-- and I feel sorry for Nicole she obviously needs help.

 I just wish people would leave celebs alone when they are suffering...I find it is sad that when a person suffers is when more people talk about them.

I know the celebs choose to be in front of the world but good gosh for once I wish people didnt have to have their say in a celebs break up., divorce,  affair, eating disorder, or any other personal problems.  I could never do the whole famous thing I would go nuts.

Okay sorry I just had to say that-- I know we all talk about celebs, everyone does it -- I just wish people didnt act like it was their business to know and act like the know the celeb personally.  it's called respect, everyone deserves it-- whether it be that they are a good or bad person .

Fact is, I DO know many of these "celebs". I worked in the music industry for 23 years and know alot about some of their personal lives. What we are saying is IF Nicole is suffering an eating disorder, same thing Katharine has said.

Kat's always a nice person. The media's a little bit of crazy though, they should really leave celebs alone when they are suffering.

I am not really a fan of Nicole Richie but it is great that Kat is offering to help her. This just shows that Kat has a care for others as well as herself and I think that's really great.

Wow. Kat is really an example of a nice and loyal person. I mean.. she's really great right??
