I hope that this post stays within the guidelines of this forum. I don't want to post anything that is considered "Kat-bashing," but it has now reached a point where we as fans need some answers. I'm not talking about answers to pre-submitted questions, no matter how thoughtful and wonderful those 11 responses were. I'm not talking about extremely vague emails from Peisha. We need real answers about what is going on. This article, if true, is the most damaging PR nightmare yet. It simply does not look good for her to have been doing a photo shoot while the other 9 were putting on a show in New Hampshire. We need to know why she was in a pool on Sunday when the other 9 were rehearsing. We need to know if she rehearsed at all. We need more than just "when her doctor gives her the OK." We need a geunine estimated date of return. Anything less isn't good enough. We need to know when this alleged photoshoot was scheduled. We need to know the real reason she hasn't been seen with the other idols since the Today appearance with Taylor. This is a no-bash forum. I get that. I'm a devoted fan of Katharine and her voice. It is possible to love somebody without ever meeting them, and I do love Katharine. Her performances moved me like no others. Her smile brightened my week. But we as fans just can't be expected to sit back and endure the barrage of bashing that accompanies these sorts of PR nightmares. Eventually, even the most devoted fans will be disillusioned. Katidol and others, I admire your "stick with Kat, no matter what" attitude. I'm sure most of us want that attitude. But we have got to be told the unvarnished truth about this mess, we need real timetables and estimates, and we need to know which of these stories are true. This isn't in the realm of prying into her private life. The tour is a BIG deal, and it is very hard for fans to defend her showing up at an alleged photoshoot while little girls who forked out hundred of dollars to see her were crying in New Hampshire. As I said, this may enter the realm of negative speculation, but this article really is turning her most devoted fans--and I'm not talking fair-weather fans, I'm talking devoted, fight-for-our-girl Kat Packers and McPhans. It's extremely damaging and we need some real answers soon. The best way for all of this to end and for everybody to be happy again would be for her to get to Albany as fast as she can and perform on Tuesday night. She has already missed five shows, and that is a LOT. That is a lot of Kat fans who are disappointed and lost a lot of money. I guess the thing that is difficult to understand--if this article is true--is why she could shoot photos for a magazine, but she couldn't at least lip-synch something in New Hampshire. If there is a genuine explanation for this, I want to hear it, and I pray it puts Kat in the best light possible. I don't think there is anybody who would argue that all of this is at all good for her reputation or her career. The newly coined "McPheeasco" is going to spread like wildfire. What on earth can we do to contain it?

I agree with you, Kelbon. I've been one of Kat's staunchest suporters over on the Soul Patrol site. But I have to say, if this is true (and we don't know for sure). it's a terrible move to make. Even if she doesn't require her voice to do a shoot, it's very inappropriate. I'll continue to give her the benefit of the doubt until I hear something definitive, but I have my limits.

I don't care if it's believable or not, it's out there and it must be answered. Eonline employs Ryan Seacrest. People are going to take the source as gospel, trust me. If there is anything Kat REALLY needs to respond to, this is it.

Agree with you Kelbon (your first post). We need answers, but I'm also sure that this is more an issue with Kat's management than Kat herself. There are alot of gaps, but none of those suggest she has the power to purposefullly miss the tour without some sort of legal repercussion. If the other nine idols had time to practice whole new sets (taylor doing at least three more songs than he was supposed to, guys singing patience), someone somewhere knew sooner that Kat will be missing at least some of the tour. My faith in Kat has not wavered in any way shape or form, and if we're demanding answers, our fight is not with Kat.

My post on the AI board: If Kat had continued with the tour that I understand to be quite a burden, she would not be getting rest. I do not believe a photo shoot, is nearly a wearing as a tour by bus. If she did tour, you would call her a "Diva" for standing, waving on the stage like a Queen. No! What she did was right, more likely than not her path was dictated to her. I would hope she would use any time available to her to continue or increase the speed of the ride. No disappointment here; however, those with tickets without Katharine’s appearance maybe – for some a disappointment maybe the first time.

Of course it's not as demanding to shoot photos as it is to stand on stage and ride a bus! But that doesn't mean it was an intelligent move--if, of course, it is true, and I'm hoping it's not. Nobody in their right minds would think that this would look good. I've taken some bullets for Kat in some very hostile territory. You're right, my fight is not with Kat. But there are just so many things about this whole thing that don't "fit," and it is clear that we haven't been told everything that we as fans have some claim on a right to know.

Kelbon you are RIGHT on... I want to keep the McPhaith, but I am also needing some answers... if I had just heard she was sick I would be ok, but the fact that there are all these things which just aren't adding up is making me a little bit nervous! Some answers from Kat or her publicist would sure be nice.

Someone over on the AI boards has been making a pretty compelling case on behalf of Kat. That person is saying that it's very likely that Kat had to do this shoot, that AI may have said, "okay, if you can't sing, then you can at least get out there and do something." As this perosn states, AI gets a piece of anything Kat does, so if they can't have her on tour, then by-God their going to get something from her in other ways. Kat is under a pretty strict contract with AI; I doubt seriously that she can just willy-nilly do anything she wants while under contract, and the legal repercussions of doing whatever she wants is pretty severe I would assume. . If this is true, then it makes sense, and I wouldn't be upset about it then. But it would still be nice to hear something official.

It is a gossip column for the media outlet that employs Ryan Seacrest, and that lends it credibility. This Casablanca guy has a reputation for being a jackass, but also for almost always being right. The masses will believe it, and in this case, the masses aren't just being idiots. Of course the writer is making it look as bad as possible, but that only makes the need for clarification and a response even more compelling. And it's not just this. You combine this with those most unfortunate pool paparazzi photos taken while the other 9 were rehearsing in New England, and it does not look good to even the most enamored KatPhan. I hate to admit that I am even slightly bothered by Peisha's explanatory email. She really should have given a concrete estimated date of return, making it clear that it WAS an estimate. "When her doctor OK's it" was just too vague for something as big as the tour.

kat or a representative needs to explain this. i do believe her, but some mcphans are starting to doubt her. sad. anyway, i know how it is to have laryngitis/bronchitis (worse case is to have high fever). she doesn't just need a vocal rest...she needs a complete body rest to ensure that she'll recover soon. i'll be happy if she's just home and taking the much needed rest. the cosmo rumor kinda bothers me as well, not because that "kat is fooling her fans", but because she may just ruin her health.

I've had bronchitis before. With anitbiotics it mostly clears up in a couple of days, at least to the point where you can get on with your life though you continue the anitbiotics for 10 full days just to make sure. Kat's voice problems are a related but seperate issue. She was under doctors orders to rest her voice for a certain number of days. None of the above would prevent her from doing a photoshoot. These are the facts. I'm not about to believe the bashers interpretation of the above any more than I believed them in the past.

The problem is that at this point, her PR is quite fragile and her actions need to be judicious. Girls were crying in Manchester. The argument you--and all of us--need to consider is that if she could do a photo shoot, she could lip synch. I mean, the whole contagious diesease thing kind of fails as an argument in this context. EDITED: What I'm basically saying is that this is somewhat different from "in the past." Contextually, it carries a whole lot more weight than anything potentially negative we've seen before. Like I said, some general AI commentators--not necessarily bahsers--are already dubbing it the "McPheeasco."

All of this news together is a little disconcerting. I mean why would she have a photoshoot scheduled the same time as a concert date on the tour? I mean did she get her doctor's orders for vocal rest and decide "Hey, since I'm here, let's go schedule a photoshoot with Cosmo"? Same thing with the pictures in the pool with Nick which were supposedly the Sunday before the Wednesday opening night of the concert. It doesn't make sense she would be out in a public pool when the rest of the idols were supposedly rehearsing. And if she wasn't rehearsing because she was sick why would she be out swimming in a pool? I'm behind Kat and I'm not making any prejudgments on what's going on one way or the other but with everything put together it is a little difficult to defend her against those that are accusing her of deserting her fans (which I personally refuse to believe). Because of my faith in Katharine I really feel all of this has a very reasonable explanation but at this point I think she may need to come out and give one. Also, I wonder if since she's contractually obligated to AI during the tour time if the AI folks would have to give her the OK even to go out and do a photoshoot that coincides on the same day as a tour stop? I just hope she gets better very soon and can join the tour because that would stop all the speculation AND the thousands of folks that have paid for the AI tour tickets would finally be getting what they thought they were paying for when they purchased the tickets.
