Eat'n Park Offers American Idol Runner-Up Katharine McPhee $100,000 Recording Contract and Smiley Cookies for Life to Sing Jingle PITTSBURGH, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The voice people might be hearing on Eat'n Park's new summer commercial should be familiar. If the chain's $100,000 deal is accepted, it will be the voice of Katharine McPhee, American Idol's first runner-up from Fox TV's hotly contested singing competition. Eat'n Park, one of the country's leading family restaurant chains, is offering McPhee not only a $100,000 recording contract, but also is sweetening the deal by throwing in a lifetime supply of Smiley cookies, the dining chain's popular treat, sold in its restaurants and online at http://www.eatnpark.com/ . "We're excited about the prospect of pairing Eat'n Park with one of America's hottest young singers," said Kevin O'Connell, senior vice president, Marketing, Eat'n Park. The new jingle will be unveiled later this summer in coordination with the 20th anniversary of the Smiley cookie. Eat'n Park is working on its new sound with singer/songwriter Bob Corbin. Corbin is famous for several #1 pop and country hits, including "Can't Keep a Good Man Down" and "Fire in the Night," for super group Alabama and more recently, for his work with the Povertyneck Hillbillies. $100.000? if that's their best offer, i think they need to get someone who didn't make the top 12 LOL. either that, or Kat needs to find a new manager

But, I do see what you mean about the money issue! that's true. i was just making a joke since the amount of money was the first thing that caught my attention. i think a good business decision for her would be to associate herself with something that's really well-known. now i'm not from US, and even though i spent 5 years studying in US, i've never heard of Eat'n Park. so i'm not really sure about the image and/or popularity of this restaurant. my point is, i just hope that Kat doesnt become a sell-out and does endorsements for tons of things that doesnt really reflect her just to get her face out there (like vanilla ice and his barbie dolls....that's just not right ). i'm also not sure if she should do endorsements for fast food chain (like KFC). isn't she into the whole eating right and having a good lifestyle thing now? shouldn't she be a role models for all the young kids and tell them to stop eating junk foods and start eating healthy stuff? sorry...I'm a fitness junkie

Oh please! Not this again. I really think Katharine needs to stay away from tacky sponsors like this at the very beginning of her career. She surely doesn't "need" the money, they must be quite well paid on the Idol tour and she has the single CD sales and an upcoming album. Why blow her reputation for a lousy 100 K and some cookies? Besides, what a stupid name - shouldn't it be park'n eat???? It what order do you do things at this gourmet restaurant? I have faith that Kats and her family will not allow their names to be sullied by this tacky relationship.

I've never heard of this restaurant before Kat ( a couple months ago), but....It's hard to pass up an oppurtunity to hear Kat SING something! Even if it is a jungle. Taylor's been exposed to millions through his Ford commercial, and Kat actually has a chance of impressing some non-idol fans with her vocals. Unlike Taylor.

Isn't the job of singing corney jingles saved for those artists who were never able to get anywhere, but they just won't give up? NO KAT NO!!!!!!!!! The kind of play you deserve is an arena full of fans...NOT on some small town radio stations that play Eatnpark jingle to pay the bills.........YIKES!!! You are so better than that!!!
