Katharine McPhee to star in 'Storyteller'

Wes Bentley, Anita Briem also join the indie drama

Katharine McPhee and Wes Bentley are starring in the indie psychological drama "The Storyteller," which Robert Angelo Masciantonio is directing for Feverpitch Pictures. Anita Briem also is on board.

Bentley, repped by WMA and Untitled, plays a writer who goes on a downward spiral when his father dies, causing his assistant (McPhee) to start investigating whether his muse as well as narrator for his stories (Briem) is a figment of his imagination.

"Storyteller" is producing by Jeffrey Erb of Feverpitch, along with Jason Loftus and Patrick McDade. Joe Nicolo of Feverpitch is exec producing. An August shoot is planned.

McPhee is repped by CAA and Untitled. Briem is repped by UTA and Untitled.

No surprise here. A few months back,yours truly,{goodiesman}broke this story.Remember Nick was in Philly
and someone asked what doe's he do.I informed Katharine land he was wrapping up the $$$$$$$$$$
investors for this movie.The investors of this movie I believe,waited to see Katharine's performance and
stage presence in person before making a final comittment. That opportunity came about,Friday Night-May.23 [David Foster & Friends}Also,
their was a huge party after the show.Many top Movie and Television Exeutives attended this Gatharing,and
were actually able to meet Katharine and experience the same "Magical"aura that Andrea feels when he
performs with our lady.
Our beautiful Katharine will have a very busy schedule for the rest of the this year.The new album will be awesome,and watch the offer's come rolling in.Rejoice Katharine Land,and be proud of Both Nick and
Katharine.
David's list of performers for his July show should be finalized any day and hopefully Katharine will be one of
them.

Excellent news!

Looks like Kat's going to be super busy the rest of 2008 between making this movie, promo-ing "House Bunny" and recording her sophomore album. Phew, I'm getting tired just thinking about it!

The basher's are at work early this morning,and I Bashed one of them right back.Most people have no
clue what casting calls and audition's are.When you actually land a lead or supporting role in a movie,you
have beat out hundred's and some time's thousands' of other wannabee's.It mean's you are talented and
have shown your ability to the people who know the business and invest the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
in their belief's.You were picked for the project and can be proud of yourself.
Our Katharine is a "Very special Lady"and will always be able to walk tall.

Agree,Goody.....we should all care.Even if it makes no sense,I take Kat bashing very personally.
I'm finding it is sort of a mission to seek out these haters and try to set them straight with a little honest truth.
There is one famous hater(won't glorify with a name)who goes on every blog and writes disgusting remarks about Kat and Nick.Apparently,she thought she'd change her tune by patronizing Kat fans.She went on Kat's sites to rave about her Something perf on AI.So the other day,I read a blog comment where she stated,"Kat can't sing and can't act".I was compelled to remind her of how she had recently praised Kat's wonderful singing and that we haven't yet really been exposed to Kat's acting.
It's almost fun,taking these people to task and having them hopefully realize just how ridiculous they are.Yes,there is free speech...but people shouldn't be writing hateful lies about another human!

Yeah, I saw a comment from her just this morning and decided to answer her. She was using her first name this time but the tone was unmistakable, and it was the right name. I just can't resist sometimes. I mean really, how can you say someone can't act when they haven't even appeared on the screen yet? We haven't seen any of her movies, duckhead. Or do you get these things in advance via your crystal ball?

I only see them when they show up in my google alerts (I have them tracking blogs too) or someone posts a link to a picture or article with comments. They show up here all the time. All you have to do is scroll down and read the comments, if you've got the stomach for it. They don't make much sense. The worst of them obviously have some kind of personal axe to grind and none of us who are fans can figure out what it is, because of course we don't feel that way. You can't make much of a dent on them with the truth, because they've got some kind of irrational hair up their noses and that's that.

I just do a google blog search for Kat and with the MTV Awards and The Storyteller..there are loads of blogs this week.
I must say,and don't know if Groucho agrees,but there happily seems to be a decrease in the number of offensive remarks.Either the haters have given up or the fans have taken over;but generally comments seem to be quite positive and enthusiastic for Kat's appearances and projects!

Kind of off-topic, but a lot of us have been curious about what Nick does. Some people imagined him as somebody who's with Kat to advance his own "struggling" career. I don't know if your insider-ish information is true, but I've looked into Nick's background, and he does seem to a respectable career going on behind the scenes. Nick is an A&R guy for an indie record company, and I actually recognized one of their featured artists (Matt Bissonette) as a former bassist for the Maynard Ferguson Big Band and David Lee Roth's solo band. If Nick's an important guy at a label representing an artist who worked regularly with a jazz legend and a rock legend, then he's not exactly a hack.

I think Nick has done a lot of things in a lot of different areas, including acting. He seems to know a lot about all areas of the business. If he's devoting a lot of his time to promoting Katharine and her career right now, what's wrong with that? He knew her when she was nobody and believed in her then, so even if she's his main project, so what? I'll bet Rene Angelil devoted himself to Celine when her career started taking off too and did he get the kind of flack I keep hearing about Nick? Actually I have no idea, that just occurred to me. I just have a hard time with the notion that he might think of Katharine as nothing but a meal ticket. Somehow that doesn't seem to fit what I see. I think they just have a relationship/partnership that is wider and deeper than a lot of people want to acknowledge.

groucho,You scored a direct hit with your observation.Nick happen's to be the writer and producer for
"The Last Caller"Nick is still looking for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for this project.
FeverPitch Pictures have a good track record with film's in this budget range,The Executives behind this
company are savy movie producer's,and not in the habit of "Throwing Their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Away."
Nick put's Katharine first in his life,as Katharine doe's with him.Many people will never understand what the devotion
Katharine and Celine share with their husband's.The bottom line___They could care less what people think>

Zenith Film Group is the actual company in Developement for this movie.Nick is one of he Principals of the
company.The projected budget is $5-Million Dollars.
