I visited David Foster's Web Page and thought you all might like to read about his background. I think the information is current up to the end of 2007 - about the time Josh Groban's new Christmas CD became available. It's a bit lengthy but still makes for interesting reading and lots of reasons why Katharine is so very fortunate to have David Foster working with her!
From David Foster's Web Site:
Producer/songwriter David Foster is a 14-time Grammy Award winner with unprecedented 42 nominations. Foster entered the music scene in 1973 and quickly established himself as one of the industry's premier keyboardists, and has become one of the most sought-after session musicians. During that time, he performed alongside such musical titans as John Lennon Diana Ross, George Harrison, Rod Stewart and Barbra Streisand. Throughout the 80's, Foster produced and wrote several No. 1 singles including Chicago's "Hard to Say I'm Sorry", The Glory of Love (Karate Kid Part II soundtrack), and John Parr's "Man in Motion" (St. Elmo's Fire soundtrack). Foster also produced platinum-plus selling soundtracks for "Ghostbusters" and "Footloose". In 1993, Foster was named Billboard Magazine's "Top Singles Producer" and "Top R&B Producer". He was also the year's top Grammy nominee with seven nominations, taking home his third award for "Producer of the Year" for The Bodyguard soundtrack. Foster's producing credits include songs on such albums as Celine Dion's Grammy Award-winning "Falling Into You," which spawned his two hit singles, "Because You Loved Me" and "To Love You More." He also produced Natalie Cole's "Unforgettable" and Barbra Streisand's "Broadway" and "Back to Broadway." From 1994-1997, four of his productions - "Unbreak My Heart", (Toni Braxton), "I Will Always Love You (Whitney Houston), "I Swear" (All-4-One), "Because You Loved Me" (Celine Dion) - each reached No.1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart where they remained for a total of 42 weeks. This translated to holding down the coveted #1 spot for an unprecedented 20% of a 4 year period. Foster's entrepreneurial spirit and artist-driven success caught the attention of Atlantic Records brass, who recruited him as vice president in 1994. Foster later founded 143 Records, a joint venture with the Time Warner Corporation, which has recruited a roster of diverse and exceptional talents including Irish singing group The Corrs, Christian Pop sensations Plus One, the Popstars television show, and young pop sensation Josh Groban whose debut album is already triple platinum. Foster's recent credits include: the soundtrack for Quest for Camelot, which earned Foster the Golden Globe Award in 1999; "Come What May" (Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor), for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack; "I'll Make It Up As I Go" (Diana Krall), for the for the score soundtrack; "Me Ire" (Alejandro Sanz and The Corrs); and "For Always" (Lara Fabian and Josh Groban). With a commitment to give back, David Foster has been a prominent and tireless supporter of the philanthropic community. He has lent his musical skills to many charitable foundations and organizations such as the Andre Agassi Foundation, Race to Erase MS, Fight Night Foundation and Muhammad Ali Fight Night, CapCure Prostrate Cancer Research Foundation, Malibu High School Scholarship Program, and Cedars-Sinai Research for Women's Cancer, amongst many others. In fact, David has donated his time and talent, hosting, being Musical Director, and putting together shows for over 150 charity evenings over the last ten years. David, being a long time champion of children and advocate of their rights, established the David Foster Foundation to assist families of children in need of organ transplants. To date, the foundation has raised several million dollars and assisted numerous children throughout Western Canada. I have a feeling that Katharine and Nick got some good feedback on how to start a charitable organization. David is a pretty incredible individual and Katharine and Nick are fortunate to have his friendship and guidance!

I forgot to mention that he as an audio player on his Web Page. I've listed the songs below. He has either produced, written or performed on them. It was very interesting to note that he arranged/produced "Unforgettable". It would be so nice if he would update that list and add Katharine's performance of "Something".
It is very evident that the combination of David foster with Katharine is perfection. If Katharine will let David control the music agenda, she will be a huge success
i tend to agree with you Asst, well with the exception of the people are ignorant part. i don't know if it's so much ignorance on the part of people, it could just possibly be that their musical knowledge is limited and producer's like David Foster are way out of their league. his knowledge of who has the talent vocally says it all with the Grammy's he's collected. i believe him when he says "Katharine is a force to be reckoned with," she truly is, we as her fans have believed this and i do see "Something" big is coming soon.
as for the comparison another poster made about the taking apart a machine gun and the ignorance of people, was an ignorant comparison,it made absolutely no sense at all, but personally i find that posters posts on here a bit on the edgy side most of the time, JMO... but post away....
