Katharine McPhee, 23, gets down on the dance floor with her new husband, producer Nick Cokas, 43, during their Feb. 2 wedding reception at St. Viviana's in Los Angeles. The couple tied the knot earlier at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church before 305 guests (including McPhee's pal Rumer Willis
McPhee shares a tender moment with her proud papa Daniel, who was "happy to give me away," she says. Adds McPhee: "I had been holding on to my dad, trying not to cry. Then the doors opened, and I was blown away."
McPhee and Cokas light up the room – literally – during a special candle-lighting ceremony.
After walking down an aisle flecked with pink and ivory rose petals – to the sounds of bagpipe music – McPhee and Cokas united at the altar to make it official. "I was so emotional," McPhee says. "And moved by the whole thing."
Surrounded by family and friends – including fellow Idol alum Kellie Pickler (right) – McPhee finds herself in gorgeous company. "I was so honored when Katharine asked me to be a bridesmaid," Pickler said. "[The wedding] was like a fairy tale. I didn't want it to end."
The reception – held at St. Viviana's – was designed with a "shabby chic" theme, wedding planner Denise De Quevedo tells PEOPLE. Meanwhile, tables were set with rose and peony centerpieces.
At the reception, McPhee does what she does best – sings! After being serenaded by Cokas (he performed Billy Joel's "She's Got a Way"), she returned the favor with a rendition of "Unforgettable" by Natalie Cole.
They may have dug into the four-tiered wedding cake (with buttercream frosting), but McPhee says the two "barely" ate dessert. But that didn't stop the two from celebrating. "We're a perfect fit," Cokas tells PEOPLE.
fantastic!!thanks for these pics
I would say she is on her way with foster, he is the best, and will turn her into the best
I missed something...where was the implication that DF was at the wedding?
Thanks Groucho! I was thinking of the written article but I did finally figure it out when I began looking at pictures more closely...an AH HA moment. VERY cool
Well then, maybe this news will quiet down the "naysayers" out there.
Good things are on the way folks!
OH, and what a gorgeous wedding for such a gorgeous and talented lady!
Katharine's wedding sounded like a dream wedding, everything seemed perfect and beautiful. And, how damn cool is that having the piano player for their seranades be Mr. David Foster! That girl knows how to work those connections and she's so loved by so many people in the industry and beyond.
^There's the classic Papa McPhee tears in better clarity--along with the notion that Kat was more calm about the wedding than he was. But this is one of my favorite pics from the wedding--along with seeing at least one with Peisha. I was hoping Peisha and Dan would be in a few more, though.
Thanks for posting the pics in a smaller format here. The People scans were so overwhelming in size that they needed to be reduced for the sake of color clarity and to take in the essence of the pictures better.
Maybe Kat will share some videos of at least the musical performances during the reception. Hearing them both sing those songs to one another hopefully wouldn't feel intrusive--even though footage of the wedding itself should probably stay private. That all depends on how they feel about the sanctity of it--which I'm more than sure is way up there.
