The reviewer is possibly a conservative older music fan. The political correctness of which is current and past between various female personalities and music choice also posed a challenge, seemingly. Looking for a conservative attitude or facade among young female artists could be disappointing for this reviewer. The take on "Mary Jane" and "Open Toes" as contrasting might not have been served well, though, I'm afraid. This is not the town to take up conservatism with, even among the american natives, first of all. On the other hand, this town is not exactly San Francisco or Manhattan. Mary Jane could be sung by the same singer of Open Toes, no less than our idol Katharine McPhee, nothing wrong with that, I suppose. Women are always accused of being controversial in terms of role and the challenges they take, anyway. Is there a danger in pop culture? When you start deciphering lyrics over jamming with the beat, when your young teen-agers are with you or not, perhaps it's time to increase parenting skills but without necessarily occluding the nature of pop. It's a tough world and time we live in. Those who are smarter would always emerge on top, usually, regardless of acceptance or ridicule. However, the realities of life should not be allowed to present a problem when appreciating music for it's only in music where we all might find ourselves together in tolerance of each other. After all, it was a show hosted by radio. But then, it's perhaps why the sweetness of Lily Allen could have only paved the way for the "lumpy/humpy " Fergie in this concert. If any, the reviewer just merely reflects his personal taste for music.

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

If you ask me, the reviewer is making making far too much over nothing? Why such a need for a sociological interpretation? Geeesh! I say, just enjoy the music and move on.

Right now, I think the big message for everyone to take home with them from these radio concerts is "Damn, that McPhee girl can really sing!" I doubt that the audience is really treating all the lyrics like they're in a freshman English class and there's going to be a quiz when they get home.

What?  It's a concert!  It's pop music!  Relax!  I don't think Katharine was really thinking about the sociological meaning of the world when she decided to sing a set of Love Story, Dangerous, Over It, Mary Jane and Open Toes.

Can one person sing something like Mary Jane and follow it with Open Toes?  Why not?  To me, it shows how amazingly versatile Katharine is.  For some people they think it means she doesn't know what kind of singer she is.  Like the one review said..."She singing to two generations".  So what?  Do you have to cater to only one demographic at ALL TIMES?

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.
