I just read that article and was about to post the link when I saw it was already here. About the 4th paragraph down, it was suggested that the producers may well have put one of the top people in the bottom 3 just to get more votes. I am so confused as to how they can do this, if the voting itself did not land Katharine there. If they can fix it like they want to, how do our thousands of votes really matter? Other opinions are welcome, please. (And it would make me so disgusted with the producers!) The show tells us that only our voting counts. Is that not true?

That is plain ridicilous if they think putting the top ppl to get more votes, at this stage, people are creating sensations, its all the same such as "Kat leaving rumours" earlier. baloney to me! arrrgh! im so angry they said that!

This could make ppl feeling why need to vote if the show is rigged, which if that happens Kat is doomed! Viva to power voting next week!!!

To ease our minds a bit about the possibility of the show results being rigged or fixed, for those of us who have been very concerned over that (myself very included)... I corresponded with Katharine's mother about the fact that the fans were very upset and that we were still supporting Katharine and will continue to vote for her. I received her reply, and she indicated that Katharine was very upset and sad by what happened and that from what Katharine has told her, the show could not be fixed, that it was not allowed. Her mother really feels like the reality is that America did not vote for her in the masses. She stated that Katharine has a gift for us all (which I do believe) and that they hope America will come through for her. I know that all of us on this fan site will be pulling our weight!!

Yeah, as Leah have mentioned, I also corresponded with Miss Katharine's mother. . . And she said the same thing. . . All we have to do now is give our full support to her. . . Vote for her. . . Don't let Miss Katharine be upset and sad again. . . Come on America. . . She needs all your support. . .

Only the producers know whether the show is rigged or not but personally I really can't see how they'd get away with it. People put their time, effort and money into voting for their favourite and to simply discard those votes would surely be illegal.

I hope Katharine fans don't take too much notice of this because I believe she needs our votes more than ever and articles like this might well put some people off.

Katharine needs your votes America.

Remember that it's entirely possible that she ended up in the bottom three by only a slim margin. One vote, or a few, could make a big difference. I read somewhere that last year, Bo Bice lost the title by only somewhere in the area of about 140 votes. That's just three or four people with an hour to kill with their phones. The moral of the story: everyone must vote. I feel bad becauseI only voted about 7 times on Tuesday, because I had to tend to my children instead. Clearly, I'm going ot have to dispense with the children. *wink*

I should also point that back in season 3, after they did the music of Sir Elton John, the bottom 3, were the best 3 singers in the group were including Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson and Latoya London.

Is anybody out there old enough to remember The $64,000 Question? Anything can be rigged. But it's also quite possible that fans just sat on their hands figuring she had it made. So what happened? I was so shocked I voted twice this week (all I could manage before everyone else got their acts together and kicked in) and actually joined this group. I have never voted for an AI contestant before in my life but Katharine just seems to have something special.

Groucho, you only voted twice?! Why is that? If you wait till after the initial onslaught of votes, you can get quite a few in. Wait for 30 minutes or so if you have to, but you can do better than two votes! (assuming you don't have some other reason for not voting)

I don't believe for a second that the show is rigged. That would be completely pointless. Simon is the one who really tells us what the show is all about... it's about America's choice. If America were perfect and united in all things, this WOULD be a boring show. But America is not... I saw on other sites only bad reviews about Katharine's Christina performance before the results show, so I wasn't very surprised at all that she was in the bottom three. Then, many people claimed fan complacency, including myself. I only voted for her twice that week and then proceeded to vote for others, including Lisa.

It's really nice to see Katharine go from very sad to very happy. Not that being sad is good, but the contrast is awesome!

Yeah, it was the first time I ever voted for anything like this. I had never watched Idol in my life until about a month ago. I had no idea how things worked, so I waited until the show was over, voted twice, and then got a busy signal every time I checked in to see how the voting was going. That sounded good to me, so I stopped trying after awhile, seeing as how I couldn't get in anyway. Then I registered here and started reading all the posts about people voting until they got carpal tunnel syndrome, so the following week I got in quite a few more. However, I am still limited to a land line, no super-technical aids. And some of us can't just sit on the phone for two hours. We do what we can, short of locking the kids in the basement. ("Here, take your all-day sucker with you, and shut up, for pete's sake, it's Idol time!")
