Idols for StarFest
Two veterans of last year's fifth season of "American Idol" will be among the performers at StarFest 2007 on June 2 at Gwinnett Arena. Leading the lineup: "Idol" reject Chris Daughtry, whose self-titled album was the fastest-selling rock debut since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991 (selling more than 1.9 million copies in 16 weeks).
He'll be joined by "Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee; indie rock band Dashboard Confessional, led by Boca Raton, Fla., singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba; and Augustana, which recorded its first album, "All the Stars and Boulevards," in Atlanta in 2004. Tickets go on sale Thursday at Ticketmaster outlets (ticketmaster.com or by phone at 404-249-6400).

I would suspect that a few more pop acts will be added to the bill. I wouldn't call Daughtry, Dashboard Confessional or Augustana "head bangers". They all fall under the rock banner but they aren't hard rock or anything like that. Everyone at this show gets played on WSTR in Atlanta (a Top 40 station) so it'll be a show that represents what they play on the channel.
No chance Kat's going on tour with Daughtry. No way in the universe. One, it doesn't make sense stylistically. And two, as good as Chris is going he still isn't doing major venues or anything like that YET. I'm sure that'll come fairly soon though. But he probably needs a second album worth of material first.
