Since the Rose Parade will be broadcast on a number of different channels (including but not limited to ABC, NBC, Univision, HGTV, Travel Channel, Discovery HD, etc) we have a chance to catch the coverage of Kat's float on all the different channels.  If all of our fans with capping capabilities will check their listings, and post which channels they will be capping, we can figure out which channels we'll still need to cap.  And it's fine if two or more people cap the same network, since local affilitiates can alter the coverage shown in different areas.  Thanks Kat Fans!!!

Ideally, someone can get KTLA-HD. I think it's the same as Discovery-HD, but I'm not absolutely positive. The SD version I think is KTLA's and Travel Channel's broadcast. See http://katharinefans.com/Forums/tabid/92/forumid/26/postid/90637/view/topic/Default.aspx

I won't be getting these:
Telemundo
Sky Link (Mandarin language)
Tribune TV

Hope the cable doesn't go out!

Diff, since it looks like I won't be able to get an HD cap, you want me to just back you up on the ABC and NBC broadcasts?

Totally your call. After all, whatever you record is as much for you to keep as for everyone else!

So does your box allow you to record two different programs at the same time? I thought I read that it could. I guess you're still limited in what can be sent over the Firewire. (I can't cap HGTV over Firewire, probably you can't either?)

So whichever channels you choose, if you post what they are, I'll encode the other ones first. And I won't start any encodes at all until after the live coverage is completely over (10am PST), because I only get one chance at capping live and I don't want to push my CPU while capping.

Yeah, I can record 2 channels at once. It doesn't really matter to me which channels I cap from. I'll probably watch DiscHD in the other room anyway since it's the only HD broadcast.  I can't cap from HGTV either.

That's nice to know. I'm considering going to DVR if I can get 2 channels recorded.

I will be recording the HGTV channel on my TIVO and then transferring the parade onto a DVD disc with my Sony recorder. Not sure how to break it down to just record Kat's performance tho. I can send a copy of a DVD disc to McElphaba if you send me a PM.

I'll be capping HGTV, it just won't be all-digital.

Here's about as good as the quality I'm going to get. You can check it out and compare to what you get when you view your DVD from TiVo.

Not the greatest. Noisier than I usually get. Your way is probably better!

Bigshady, ABC is in true HD, so I'll do the fullsize ABC-HD 1280x720 first, since avi.NET can only go up to 720x__.

I'm recording high defi on both ABC & NBC on a cable box. I have no ideal how to get it off of that. I'm also recording NBC on a computer high defi board. This is off the air; so, it may not be good. Comming off the computer board will be TS. I have a conversion for TS to Divx. Not having done this before, suggestions would be appreciated.

It was such a short performance, but they did announce her debut album on the 30th and that the song was a track. It sounded beautiful and she, of course, looked amazing. It was great promo for the album. Michaela Ferrera kept repeating her name and the date of the release of the CD.  Maybe I just didn't catch the whole set.

SONY needs to wake up, this should be the first single. It is a certain number 1 song with Grammy written all over it.

It was a GORGEOUS song!!! I loved it.... but I still think "Over It" (if its the first single) will rock straight to the top so that everyone can't wait for the 30th to buy her full album! ;)

Just a heads up diff, the buzz is that the NBC broadcast doesn't have the "audio issues" or lyric flubs and is the one to target. I did a HD-DVHS recording of ABC, unfortuanately, so I have nothing to contribute here.
