Thanks for the vid Phee!  It was a short glimpse of Kat, but a lil Kat sighting is better than no Kat!  This must be one of many ways for Kat's promotional team to keep her in the public eye.  It introduces her to another sector of society that may not know who Kat is yet.  (Is that possible?)   They will be intrigued and want to know more about her.  They will all converge on the internet and search for any information on Katharine McPhee (sound familiar?)  They will tax the entire system until they too are added unto the ranks of Kat fans worldwide.  Let all in the Katdom rejoice! 

Ok, ok, I got a little carried away!    It was just nice seeing Kat on TV again!

She called Kat a be-yotch....that wasn't very nice. The TVgasm video was funnier  and that woman was obnoxious.  Good thing MadTV has a laugh track.  Kat seemed a bit shaken when she said "Damn you, Katharine McPhee."  Kat apologized.  I wonder what they clipped out there?   Kat's handler guy looked a bit ticked-off when he was walking away.



Clear video though...nice cap pooh4. And thanks for spreading it around Phee!

Well, if you want to realllly analyze this video

I might be imagining things, but if you step through frames 483 - 500 it looks like that guy calls the MAD woman, err something, as they're walking away. By frame 513, the MAD woman seems to react, then she responds with her b**** line. Who's the guy?

And who's the woman off to the left? Kat looks kind of in her direction when she's surprised by the "Damn you" but then it doesn't look like she walks away with Kat. A guy and woman behind them are also smiling.

That is her publicist, he is always with her at these events. Part of his job to make sure she doesn't get any bad publicity, so you can understand why he is a bit upset that Katharine's crime was caught on video.

I hope you are being sarcastic with the bad publicity comment. It is so hard to tell without hearing someone’s tone of voice. lol. It is a comedy sketch. They were waiting for someone to take the bate for that bit. She knew what she was doing. It was all for fun. Mad TV is L.A.‘s version of SNL. She knew who they were and played along. I thought it was cute when she grabbed the money. No one else seemed to be willing to fall for it. lol. It wasn’t the most hilarious sketch that I’ve seen them do on the red carpet, but it was still cute. Oh, and she got air time because of it.

Okay I'm going to be completely honest here: That video wasn't all that impressive. Now don't get me wrong, it is great seeing Kat even if it is for just a couple seconds but from the way that sketch was put together it looked like the Katharine Mcphee stealing the woman's money part was a last minute thing which is probably why it was such a short segment and because it was so short it wasn't funny. But if you listen closely before Kat takes the woman's money, she does say something, did anybody catch what it was because if anybody did then I'd probably change my opinion on this video.

Yes, Katharine reaches for the cash and says, "oooh, money!", while doing so.  Does that change you opinion? 

Is saying, "Damn you, Katharine McPhee!" funny?  Or calling her a "b!tch" funny? Must be.

I think MadTV is for a much very different demographic then I happen to be in.

The wonders of seeing something a second time. I just realized watching this again that Kat appears to not be in on the joke. I think Kat just took the $100 bill because it was there...not because she was told to. Obviously, though, anybody would know a reporter isn't being serious if they have a $100 bill sticking out of their chest. But if you notice Kat's expression, she seems caught off guard a little when that woman yells out "Damn you, Katharine McPhee!" Surely, there must have been some interesting things said between that and the jump to her publicist looking into the camera with a concerned expression as he pulls Kat away. I don't think her publicist is that good of an actor...and I think he wasn't a happy camper.

So, overall, I think this was just another rude education on the red carpet of the kind of reporters you'll find there. You have rogue reporters who squirt water in celebs' face (I think that guy is out of a job now after the Tom Cruise incident), ones who like to say shocking things, and then others who just work for Jay Leno.

I think that's the weakness of MadTV now: They're doing things everybody else is doing. Jay Leno has the comedy market on picking members of his staff or other random people to work the red carpet at award shows. That Ross character Leno uses is one example...yet it gets ten times as many laughs than this comedienne got. Sometimes using real people who aren't actors can create more funny situations than actors do. Plus, I think everybody should study Kellie Pickler in learning how to handle a red carpet interview and be side-splittingly funny.

As usual, it'd be interesting to hear from Kat herself what happened with this MadTV thing...plus the TVgasm incident. Both had some extensive edits, and all we Kat aficionados need to learn about any missing time.

Katharine is just not used to this type of humor. I think she and her habdler were a bit put off. It's too bad that this was considered funny. Mad TV has changed and not for the better.

I've watched a lot of MadTV over the past few years, though not as much recently.  I get the joke.  They do these red carpet things all the time.  Katharine's part was cut way too short.  I wonder what went on between the time Arden Myrin (pronounced like marine) said "damn you, Katharine McPhee", obviously jokingly, to when they cut to Kat and her publicist walking away.

Anyway, I just thought it was totally cute the way Kat snatched the money from Arden's dress and waved it in front of the camera like, "look what I got".

Okay CRB No that does not change my opinion because the sketch was way to short still and them calling Kat a bitch IS NOT FUNNY to me at all. Another thing that could be a possibiliity: Could it be possible that Kat was not in the sketch at all? I mean they could have taken a scene from the actual Billboard Awards with Katharine and then while doing the part had someone else play Katharine but kept the fact to make it look like that Katharine was there. As far as I am concerned, I don't think Katharine was actually there. SNL and Mad TV do stuff all the time to impersonate different people to make different actors look like real celebrities which is why I don't think Katharine Mcphee was really in that sketch. To sum it all up I just plain don't like this video.

Just so everyone knows, there are several minutes before and after Kat's part where they setup and continue the "skit". The two MAD actors (the other actor is the woman who shows up at the end of the video from pooh4) are "in character" being weird. I don't remember all the details because I was spazzing with my attempted capture.

The problem is, of course, that they apparently don't let the interviewees know that she's in character, so I think that's why her publicist was so pissed afterwards. That, and something definitely happened between the two cutshots. If kat and her publicist had known she was acting obnoxious for the skit, then they wouldn't have thought that she was just being an ass.

It might explain why, if you only saw Kat's part, you would see things completely diffferently from someone who saw the whole skit, or who knows how they do things from previous episodes.

That's my take, anyway.
