I haven't read everything here yet so forgive me if this is covered elsewhere:

Best delivery vehicle for the daily materials would be a website that only they have access to. Videos on youtube and gofish can be embedded in the website so that they wouldn't have to be clicking links and going to other websites. The video would play right in the website with other pictures and written materials around it.

I do have my own website management system that allows you easy uploading of materials and easy creation of new pages, photo galleries etc. Maybe each concert could be on its own page all called from the main page. Pages can even be password protected.

I'd be happy to donate the domain name and do the webpage maintenance, it would be a breeze once set up if others were assembling and donating the materials.

Once they know the domain name of the website, they can check it as often as they like, no need to be sending them emails and links and images.

This is something similar I have recently completed for a photographer:

http://www.tsmoorephoto.com

If you go to the Online Previews page you can see alot of links to image galleries, they could just as easily be links to concerts. If you click one you can see it is just thumbnails, clicking on them takes you to the shopping cart but they could just as easily be a mixture of images and embedded video and text.

Just let me know if you are interested. I can put together a demo page if you like.

like this for instance...

http://www.newwoman2woman.com/KatColumbiaSC.wmv

Columbia concert. Kat talks about her foot and such. A great moment her family should be able to enjoy like we can...

So, Katidol can email it to Peisha, you can incorporate it in the compilation DVD, and also be diligent in identifying videos like that to Kat idol. I'll also be a part of that latter process, as will hopefully the others who said they'd help out on this thread.

How does it sound?

In this case, Kenneth, I have no problem taking the job. Just let me know what the decision is and how we can work together.

However, Pheenomenon's idea is great too. In this case, we don't even need to email Peisha. She or whoever in the family can go directly to the website and pick whatever they want to watch.

So you pick your choice and let us know.

Thanks for the offer!

My question is will the embedded video not be a problem?  Do we just grab the you tube code?  I don't want the family having to download anything.

The other thing that I was going to say was that if we were using you tube, or any of these, we'd have to reupload it at secret links, with no "katharine mcphee" tags.

Reason being is we are shielding the family from negativity, and if you will notice, there are negative comments and negative related videos every so often.  Czar's compilation had a related video about Kat's cleavage on vid life.

I'm also wondering how long that process would take, to get the embedded video on the site, or for somone to create a secret link at one of the viral video sites...?  Anyone know?

Basically, we want the media after a show avaiable the day after or two usually following each concert.

Katidol, I still believe no matter how we do this, we will need you to send emails... whether it's delivering links or whether it's delieverinng "Alerts" in terms of "the website has been updated with new media from ____."

The other thing is we'll want to offer Peisha the opportunity to have anyone in the family or of kat's friends sign up to be included on the emails.

Lastly, and most important, we'll want to give Peisha the opportunity to NOT receive the emails at all. In that case, the project could continue anyway, only it lived on the website and if she wants to check it, she can. It could be more for Kat's fans too, as certainly the DVD will be for her fans as well.

OK --

We have these two videos ---

Kat's Back!
Kat's first song in the American Idol Concert Tour,
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, Washington D.C.
Followed By Tearful Speech to the Crowd

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsbqsyfTq5w

We need to get that moved to a different location. Take a look at all the negativity in the comments. Anyway, we don't want YouTube linking to any related videos. I don't want to expose the family to any negativity that might be in the comments' section of the relation videos. Therefore, no tags should be inserted. If you put the song in there, and the concert location, will the description produce related videos?

Here's the second video we need to put at a different location:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Dedicated the Kellie is Charlotte
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urUU2GBqhWs

Both these videos have been ripped.
http://katharinefans.com/Forums/tabid/92/forumid/26/postid/43487/view/topic/Default.aspx
http://katharinefans.com/Forums/tabid/92/forumid/26/postid/40710/view/topic/Default.aspx

You tube might now be the best site for it. Maybe a different viral video site.

Pheenomenon, I know you don't have any Kat website set up specifically for this yet. How much time do you need to get something set up so these could be put on?

We'd also need this video on the site:

Here's another great picture just because it shows how touched Kellie was:

Phee, it seems like you've been doing image galleries of each concert anyway. Assuming you do a website for this project, as you said, there could be a page for each concert, and you could basically do a gallery for the concert -- if you had the time to.

My only concern is does it get to the point of media overload, where the tonage of images and video prevents her family from finding the top-notch media?

Hi folks, to answer a few questions:

My question is will the embedded video not be a problem?  Do we just grab the you tube code?  I don't want the family having to download anything.

They supply the code to embed the video on the webpage, nothing to download.

The other thing that I was going to say was that if we were using you tube, or any of these, we'd have to reupload it at secret links, with no "katharine mcphee" tags.

Yes, actually I prefer gofish but that is what we would do. I do that anyway to hide things from thos who might remove them for copyright reasons.

Reason being is we are shielding the family from negativity, and if you will notice, there are negative comments and negative related videos every so often.  Czar's compilation had a related video about Kat's cleavage on vid life.

They would only see the video, not the comments, another great reason to go with embedded

I'm also wondering how long that process would take, to get the embedded video on the site, or for somone to create a secret link at one of the viral video sites...?  Anyone know?

Takes about 10 seconds - you aren't "embedding" the video - just the code to run it!

Basically, we want the media after a show avaiable the day after or two usually following each concert.

Can be on the webpage 10 seconds after the video is uploaded to youtube or gofish!

Katidol, I still believe no matter how we do this, we will need you to send emails... whether it's delivering links or whether it's delieverinng "Alerts" in terms of "the website has been updated with new media from ____."

Sure, let anyone concerned know with an update email

The other thing is we'll want to offer Peisha the opportunity to have anyone in the family or of kat's friends sign up to be included on the emails.

My system comes with a bulk emailer, just put all the recipients in the database, then once click and they all get the email.

Lastly, and most important, we'll want to give Peisha the opportunity to NOT receive the emails at all. In that case, the project could continue anyway, only it lived on the website and if she wants to check it, she can. It could be more for Kat's fans too, as certainly the DVD will be for her fans as well.

Sure, can just take her out of the database

EDIT: I guess nix the whole idea of the built in emailer, I don't expect anyone to give me the email addresses of the entire McPhee family and friends!  Maybe let chad do the emailing.

It takes about 10 minutes to create a photo gallery, the whole process is automated from creating the thumbnails to putting together the webpage.

I'll leave the what goes in it to those with more artistic taste than me! I'm mainly technically orientd.

Here is an example of an embedded video.

If you want me to knock together a prototype suggest a video and some images (maybe from a gallery I've already done?) some other links or text and I can get it together in half an hour or so. That would be in one of my existing domains for now. Eventually we would go with a layout/color scheme/log etc.  of your design.

It would be great to include some postings to these forums as well, this one is especially notewrothy:

http://www.katharinefans.com/Forums/tabid/92/forumid/4/tpage/1/view/topic/postid/44312/Default.aspx#44337

My wife and I have been Kat fans since the very beginning and after her audition I even said this young lady was a star in the making.........
As much as some of the bashers bothered me, I tried to not let it get me because I knew what Kat was about as a person and performer and watching her climb through AI, then the superb job on the finale, I knew Kat was, in the long run, going to be the biggest of the AI stars.......
I have to say right here and now....I spent more than 40 years in the radio broadcast industry and the music industry as a deejay, music director, booking agent, talent manager and concert promoter and have been "wowed" by some great names in all those years that I worked with them and have seen my share of "new talent" come along and become superstars, BUT...............
I just watched all of the videos of Kat's tour performance since D.C. and this girl still gives this grown man chills, goosebumps and yes, even tears with that voice of hers, her personality, her warmth, her stage presence, her immense talent........
I never thought in my lifetime that someone could take a classic song by a show business legend and make it their own signature song for a new age of fans, but Kat has definitely done that with SOTR......It is a totally new, but understated, version that sets it apart from the classic that will always remain so........
Kat has got "IT" and there is no limit whatsoever to what this extremely talented and gifted young lady can achieve in the world of entertainment....We have been truly blessed!
Good luck Kat!
Art

What parent wouldn't want to read that???

Another one - just putting these here so I don't forget where they are, it would be nice to have these little quotes around the website, maybe 1 or 2 per page, or on the main page perhaps?:

http://www.katharinefans.com/Forums/tabid/92/forumid/4/postid/44416/view/topic/Default.aspx

A Soul Patroller posted this on the AI boards:

I have to comment that I thought Katharine showed fabulous showmanship on the night of the finale when the winner was announced.  The command with which she took the stage in every segment was, in my opinion, world-class professional entertainment. Every move, the dancing... her singing and performance, the grace with which she took second place... outstanding.  Right to her duet with Meatloaf, which I thought was as stunning as her gown.

I don't know how nervous Katharine FELT, but I will say this: she certainly pulled it off as if she had been doing it all her life with such natural ease, that she gets my vote for least nervous at what would reasonably be one of the most nervous times of her life. I think she's going to do great in both singing/performance and acting. I was highly impressed.

I think Phee's embedded video is really neat. If the McPhee's family can only see the screen like that, it would be perfect. Also, going with this route really saves a lot of work. Regarding distribution of emails, I have no problem doing that if we need to.

Eveyone freaking out when they come to this thread and start hearing Katharine speaking to Randy???  (Autoplay can be turned off)

Here are 3 more as requested on their own page:

http://www.pheenomenum.com/demovid.htm

So, all we need now is a domain name, something cyrptic that no one is likely to guess? (Though access can be password controlled anyway)

And someone to design color scheme and logo etc.

Then I guess just go through the materials we are aware of for each concert and let me know what you want me to use and I'll put it together:

Videos
Images for gallery
Text
Other links - reviews, magazines etc.

I was going to suggest we start emailing outside these forums but then you get overlaps and it becomes quite confusing. At least here everything stays in the order in which it was posted. Is there a way of getting notification when there is a new post here?

Email me the domain name though! My email address in profile.

Well Phee, I think you've gotten the ball rolling on smomethign great here.

So thank you for that.

I agree, some fan recaps in there would be great.

So can we go with www.katsconcerts.com?

https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/registrar/search.asp?se=%2B&ci=164

I'll paypal you the money if you like. The other thing is, can you start setting up the pages with the media we've already indentified in this thread?

I'd also like to know, should we do a page on each concert?...and have the media for that, regardless of whether it's extra special or not? Basically a recap on each show...

I know this is something you mentioned Phee. I am just wondering if it will "dilute" the overall product sort of speak.

If anyone can weigh in with their thoughts, that'd be great, including katidol and czar

Ok, I'll get www.katsconcerts.com right now. By tomorrow sometime it should be working. I think I'll just put something together tomorrow, maybe a main page with 1 concert page, something with stills and video and text. Then we can attack that and modify until we are all happy and then use that as the template for any future pages.

I'm an information fiend and I want to have every picture and every video, which I am doing for myself. The purpose of this though is a little different. We don't want to become obsessed "collectors" of every single thing that comes out, obviously.

Another way (other than doing it by concert) might be to have main menu categories like Video, Picture Galleries, Text and under each have only the highest quality or most significant items so it could be something like:

Video
Black horse and the cherry tree, Washington DC, July 28 2006
Somewhere over the rainbow, Richmond VA, July 29 2006
Somewhere over the rainbos, dedication to Kellie, Charlotte NC, August 1 2006
      etc.

Picture Galleries
Living in America, Greensboro, NC, July 30 2006
Somewhere over the rainbow, Richmond VA, July 29 2006
      etc.

Text
Well I don't know if we even need this really, maybe just sprinkle relevant reviews or
postings to forums throughout the above. Maybe Video and Picture Galleries are all we need?

Then there is no need to document everything, just when a good video or some nice pictures come along you add them to that category, yet they are still in calendar order.

OR

only 1 level of menu with everything in calendar order, video and galleries mixed together:

Video: Black horse and the cherry tree, Washington DC, July 28 2006
Picture Gallery: Somewhere over the rainbow, Richmond VA, July 29 2006
Video: Somewhere over the rainbow, Richmond VA, July 29 2006
Picture Gallery: Living in America, Greensboro, NC, July 30 2006
Video:  Somewhere over the rainbow, dedication to Kellie, Charlotte NC, August 1 2006
      Video: etc.
      Picture Gallery: etc.

Maybe date and location come first?

I don't know, just an idea.

Or the main page could be like the above only there is a thumbnail to click that takes you to the video or gallery

Some combination of the above?

Just thinking out loud!
