We need to send thank you emails to the View for having David Foster on the show and also mention that Kat's fans are looking to seeing Kat on the show on the 19th or 20th to combat the protest emails sent by the SP.

So, when I saw he was gonna be on the View, I TiVoed it because I said, "This guy's gonna 'push' Katharine! He has to! He's obsessed with her!" And sure enoughm he did! David is amazing, hands down!!


I put my VCR on timer for the same reason.  I had no doubt that Foster would mention Katharine in some way. 

Some people are calling him, "rude," but he's just a blunt kind of guy.  I see nothing wrong with him telling it as he sees it.  Obviously it's gotten him to where he is.
"Haha! I love your comments. You just wait there will be more of Kat in Glasses! ha! I love the pic of Nena in glasses. DID you do that? Clever is so! XX kat"

David Foster doesn't have any connection to FOX or Idol or Taylor does he? Got to stick up for my home town boy David - let the man express his opinion. We Canadians say it like it is (when we aren't too busy being polite)

Anyway, I heard David interviewed on the CBC a couple of days ago and his proudest accomplishment is his charity work. I think he and Katharine might turn out to be very good friends apart from music because I see her as having a strong humanitarian bent as well. A couple of huge souls.

Anyway, if you didn't know of David's work outside the music field here are a couple of paragraphs from his entry in wikipedia:

For his work supporting research into children's cancer, leukemia, and AIDS, in 1997 David Foster was honored with the United States Children's Choice Award from the Neil Bogart Memorial Fund. Both Foster and his wife are involved in a number of humanitarian causes and wrote the song "Voices That Care" which they donated to the American Red Cross and the United Service Organizations (USO). In his native Canada, Foster established the David Foster Foundation Society, giving generously of his time and talent to raise money to assist families of British Columbia children who require organ transplants.

In recognition of his achievements and humanitarian work, David Foster was made an Officer Of The Order Of Canada, his country's highest civilian honor, and was given an Honorary Doctorate from the University Of Victoria.

Heh.

That is great--wish he could have done it without dissing Taylor, though. That was the week Taylor was in a foul mood about having his song changed, and I wonder if Foster got a bad impression from a first meeting. It certainly wasn't one of Taylor's better weeks.

But with him dissing the winner like that, will AI have him as a guest again? I haven't heard anything about him being involved with Kat's album, but oh, boy, can we hope!

I don't think he particularly "dissed" Taylor, so much as he insinuated that he didn't want to waste any of his Katharine-mention-time talking about him. LOL He kind of giggled after saying "I don't", like "Just kididng" even though he wasn't. But seriously, after all the "Oh the other 3 boys are so great and Katharine McPhee shouldn't be allowed to breathe the same air" commentary she got those last few weeks on Idol, I think it's HIGH time she got some recognition from someone who actually knows what he's talking about. I loved it. Woot!

I think David recognizes that the true breakout star of AI 5 will be Kat. Others will have good careers but the one with true Super Star potential is Katharine.

He also understands the business very well and his point about "slots" refers to the Pop/Movie Theme/ Pure vocalist "slot" ah la Celine, Whitney, etc. Not comparing her to them yet but realizing that no one is filling that "slot" right now. That market is wide open and he seems to believe that Kat has the youth, talent and beauty to fill that void and become the next great Super Star of the entertainment industry. Not dissing Taylor but simply put he doesn't have that. He will be sucessful but the market he is best suited to is a smaller niche or "slot". And I think all of us agree with his opinion of Kat. In 5 or 10 years the true breakout star of season 5 will undoubtably be Katharine McPhee. David Foster sees that and to be honest wants a piece of her career developement.

David Foster is THE MAN! Talent knows talent as evidenced by how many stars are coming down with McPheever. This is just the beginning of what should be a long and illustrious career.

I went to the AI concert last night in Hershey, PA. Taylor's fans have bigger problems ahead of them. I'd rather have our problem of defending our girl because she has people like David Foster in her corner than to have to shore up their own when more and more of them start coming back from these concerts "disappointed" in their guy as one of my friends who was a fan of his commented last night. Taylor wasn't even the 3rd best performer last night.

What's really interesting is David Foster didn't say America Got it wrong.  Those words never came from his mouth. Co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck said those words with regard to Taylor.

Yup, the Sp can't bare to hear the slightest negative thing regarding their beloved Taylor. Yet they have no problem dishing it out, makes you say hmm. David Foster is not only a musical genius, but he obvously hasn't let the pr machine that Taylor has been given effect his judgement about talent. It's clear to anyone that isn't under the spell, that Katharine is the superstar singer out of the two. America may have voted otherwise, but as long as the people in the industry recognixe Kat's talents, that will help her in the long run.
I really hope mr. Foster helps contribute to Kat's full cd because he knows how to make things work, he would be able to get the very best out of Kat in the studio.
