Edit +20071124: See the post on 11/24 for better versions
whoa I was creeped out for a sec there. I didn't even post this link yet and it had been downloaded 5 times! Then I remembered it's in a divshare folder with the audio files.
Tease+Performance "Vinman-like" AVI 720x400, mp3 audio, 30fps, 65MB http://www.divshare.com/download/2857461-69c
This one doesn't fit on divshare. mpeg-2 "near-source" 255MB http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OVGZFE05 Essentially, it's the combined mpeg-2 source (Tease+Performance).
Notes for propeller-heads For my edited mpgs like this, the beginning of each joined segment will be reencoded, but not more than 14 frames (~0.25 seconds for 60fps 720p, ~0.5 seconds for 30fps 1080i). In this case, 7 frames for the tease segment, 11 frames for the performance segment.
If you want the true unreencoded source of the tease segment: http://www.divshare.com/download/2855721-801 20.5MB
And, since the 2 media threads will eventually get separated, here's the other thread http://www.katharinefans.com/Forums/tabid/92/forumid/26/postid/130812/view/topic/Default.aspx
Happy Thanksgiving!
thanks for posting this so quickly. an amazing performance by Katharine
I'm just curious, what is the purpose of the re-encode? Sych issues? And thanks for the tease in HD!.
I've found this poll comparing Kat's National anthem to the one Carrie sang on game 3. Come and vote for Katharine!!!!! - http://pollsb.com/polls/poll/3994/the-national-anthem-who-sang-it-better
Here's the standard def cap that had 2 channel audio. It should be just the good stuff. [Edit +20071124: No, it has the background noise too. Get the files in a later post] I'll check out the 6 channel again later. I did notice a lot of background noise in the 6 channel mixdown. As you pointed out, the surround channels probably are just crowd.

We need a clean audio without the glitch at "perilous fight." Some recording not from TV? Anyone?
Actually, in this case I should have cut it earlier a few frames to avoid reencoding but I didn't think about it until after I was well into the huge upload. I wasn't thinking straight The reencode has to do with the structure of the MPEG-2 stream. If you load the mpg into GSpot (Codec Information Appliance), currently 2.70a, and press the VGS button you can see the I, B and P frames. Press the Auto-Set Layout button to see the pattern clearer and mouseover the frames. The I frames (red) are completely independent frames that encode the whole frame, like a JPEG picture. The P frames (blue) only contain information of the picture relative to the previous I or P reference frame. The B frames (green) are relative to either the previous or future reference frame, or both. The mpeg-2 stream looks like this IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB ... The new mpg is made to start with an I frame**, so if the starting cut point is at a P or B frame, IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB ... IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB end of mpg ^ start cut here ^ end cut here a new I frame needs to be reencoded, plus new P and B frames. (The ending cut point doesn't matter) Like this: IPPPPPB ^ That's the only part that needs reencoding because once the next I frame comes up, all the frames afterward (I, P, or B) can be copied without reencoding. IPPPPPB IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB ... IBBPBBPBBPBB end of mpg For the TS, there's an I frame every 15 frames, so I should have cut it at an I frame since I didn't really have to cut at an exact frame in this case. Other caps I do though. It depends on the edit point. Also, that so-called un-reencoded mpg is actually partly reencoded too. whoops sorry! But really, it's only 117 milliseconds of video at the start with Packer's #80 and #21 on-screen. MPEG info here http://bmrc.berkeley.edu/research/mpeg/mpeg_overview.html
**An mpg could start with a B frame rather than an I frame, like Shady's does.
This is good sounding stuff right here. New audio! (remember the divshare stream is wrong for 48kHz, so click the Download Original link at the divshare page) "Near-the-mike" mix - Superior to the full broadcast audio I posted earlier. No background chatter. Just the front left (FL) and right (FR) channels. www.divshare.com/download/2875001-160 "In-the-crowd" mix - Kat singing: What someone standing out in the walkways could have heard. Distant and echoey, but interestingly smoother sounding. I personally loved the performance, except 2 notes [Edit 20071124: No I take it back. I loved it all. That "free" has a raw edge rarely heard], but maybe those who didn't care for the original audio should try this one. Just the surround left (SL) and right (SR) channels. Interesting to hear what is probably close to what the crowd heard. Crowd reaction: What someone in the crowd could have heard (That is, a lot of enthusiastic cheering) www.divshare.com/download/2875002-1cc "4 channel" mix - "Near-the-mike" + "In-the-crowd". Nearly identical to the 6 channel audio because there was very little center or low frequency signal. Not much reason to get this if you already have the original MP3 I posted except for comparison. www.divshare.com/download/2875003-471 Here's a screenshot of the 6 channel audio waveforms http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k274/idf0834791/kat/20071122%20Thanksgiving%20Star%20Spangled%20Banner/2007122_SSB_sshot_AC3_to_6chWAV.gif You can see the center channel (C) had nothing during the anthem except the first 10 seconds, before they turned it off, and the last 13 seconds. It sounds like the surround channels, faint and distant, so I left it out. Low frequency (LFE) was just, well, low frequency rumbling.
enjoy!
This is good sounding stuff right here.
I did! I did! Any chance I can get a diff redub of the HD video with this amazing cleaned up FR/FL audio. This is really chilling how good her singing is in isolation like this. How about those first few words where the mix is low any possibility of boosting that a tad to bring it up to the rest of the performance? The dropout I think we just have to deal with.
Better than the broadcast, which had the noise mixed in.
yup to the HD dub! I tried boosting the first part but the FL and FR channels carry a lot of mixed in crowd noise in just that part, so the noise gets loud. I think it sounds better as is. When you get a chance, can you check out this AC3 in VLC with 6 speakers? It should have signals in all 6 channels until the anthem starts, then the center, low frequency and surround channels are mute, then they fade back in at "brave." I think I figured out 6ch AC3 reencoding now. cool!

thanks!
Kat's winning right now 53% to 47% for Carrie. And while both of them are close to apples and oranges comparisons in their anthem takes--it doesn't take a genius to see that Kat put more intense emotion (i.e. acting) into it than Carrie did. This showed Kat's true stage presence as both a great singer and actress. As I said in the other threads about the anthem--Kat's breaking up on the high notes just provided more character and emotion in my mind. You didn't see anybody on the field wince at those notes. They felt the palpable emotion Kat set in place. Remember any other time when you saw at least two football players biting their lip?
Overall, with Carrie, you could tell she went more inward to sing while Kat truly projects all her thoughts and feelings. Yes, Carrie hit the high notes perfectly--but I'm glad to see the majority realize that isn't all there is to a performance. Then again, these polls don't reflect all reality (obviously)--even though I think people want a singer who can project the true meaning behind our anthem's words rather than just singing them.
Thanks to our media gurus here for that HD download. That was the first one I downloaded (40 minutes on a high-speed line ) and well worth every minute of wait. You'll see a lot of details (i.e. veins on people's hands as they hold their heart) you won't see on the blurry Youtube copy. That's strange that I didn't even notice any background singers with Kat as some are insinuating.
One thing that sort of bothered me: The Fox camera waiting to cut to Kat until she was already well into the first note. I appreciate seeing the intensity of the singer right before they start singing. They did that with Carrie (you could tell she was in deep concentration)--while Kat was probably already setting the emotional intensity bar before singing the first note.
Whoops, must have gotting your proxy setting mixed up zarut. You were looking for this site:

Seriously, I have seen Carrie sing it a half dozen times at least...in HD, SD, HQ and assorted other levels of quality.
