Katharine McPhee has been riding the roller coaster of fame after her second-place finish in American Idol's fifth season, but she hasn't crashed and burned like other stars her age.

Kat sat down with our Carlos Diaz in Las Vegas for a Vegas Magazine celebration which featured McPhee on the cover.

Oh wow... she is just SOOO naturally cute 'n sexy, isn't she?! What a cutey... what a beauty! Love it when she pulls her perfect, shapely legs up on the chair about 36.54 seconds into the interview... SWEET!!! So...where is the beginning and where is the end of this awesome interview?! He starts out by saying "speaking of celebrity" and at the end it cut off before they are finished with the interview. Where are they hiding the whole thing...that's what I want to know...

Aside from her obvious beauty and charm(she had Mr.Diaz smitten in mere seconds!),Kat's comic timing and spontenaity are in full display.Popping in the grape as she said she's done with her eating disorder and then her analogy to the Paris/Lindsay coming out parties...... something like,"it would be like me coming out of my eating disorder program and having a big buffet the next day"!! That is off the cuff,unrehearsed brilliant!It is admirable too,that Kat is able to express empathy for those troubled celebs!Love the new song,"I Don't Want to Go to Rehab"!!Great interview!

That's the song "de jour" right now. I think Kat would do a good job with it. Even Rosie O'Donnell's version of it as she was getting makeup on one of her final days on the "View" wasn't too bad.

Well, she's just adorable. What more can I say and how many times can I say it! LOL. I'd love to see Kat in a comedy someday. She's got a natural gift for humor and really good timing.

I got only audio, no visuals, something about Quicktime needing a component that can't be downloaded. It's all a plot to drive me crazy. Does anybody trust YouTube enough to stick a version of this on there? One never knows about YT videos these days. Here today, gone tomorrow. Still, just a fleeting glance would be nice...

Speaking of Comedy, doesn't anyone wonder why Kat hasn't been on "Saturday Night Live" yet. I know Kelly Clarkson has been on there already, not to host but as a musical guest. I too would love to see how she would fit in and be humorous on a show like SNL.

Absolutely Kat will be great on SNL when she gets her chance, but at this point she probably doesn't have the star power to garner an invitation. So, first it was American Idol's Kat McPhee, now it's Sex Kitten Kat, one label after another. A decade or so from now when she's done it all they won't be able to do that. Too many labels. She'll just have to be, oh, I dunno, Katharine The Great. Isn't that what they used to call her namesake? I was struck by a couple of things. One, she looked absolutely great, and two, the way she knows how to keep her balance. There were obviously times when she fell off the deep end, but these days she knows when enough's enough. She's had enough of her own bad times to have compassion, but she's not going there anymore. Sometimes, watching TMZ film clips on aol, I realize that i would be absolutely nuts if I had to watch K. going through some of that stuff.

What a great improviser with props Kat is...reaching for that grape at just the right time. Let's just hope that wasn't wax fruit, which apparently it wasn't, or we would have known. A great (and very comfortable) interview there. Take heed you other celebs who look as tight as a rope knot when doing any interview. Kat shows you that looking and feeling relaxed during these interviews is essential in giving better answers and making people feel more comfortable with you. If this doesn't gain Kat more fans (without even having to sing a note)...then nothing else will. That's amazing Kat hasn't even seen one drug floating around when working in Hollywood. But things have (supposedly) cleaned up there in the drug department since the wild and crazy days of the 70's (and the 20's if you can believe it). After the umpteenth drug overdose in the community...top dogs in Tinseltown finally took the hint that it was something to stay away from. Case in point: Robert Downey Jr.'s drug problems weren't tolerated when he was making movies...hence his going into rehab. Other stars who've been proven to be on something get fired nowadays from film projects until they seek help. It's the same with Lindsay...even though if she had cocaine in her possession--it means drugs are still a big part of the business, unfortunately. Or, at least it's in the inner circles if you have the power to get it. I hope Kat keeps the temptations of Hollywood in check. She's already programmed herself to avoid it, thank God...even though getting de-programmed CAN happen if you're not careful. Now it makes you wonder if that other big studio film project is still 'Dallas.' I hope she avoids that one. It might still be fun to see her shoot up the Ewing mansion floor, though, while oil sprays into the air (a la 'Giant').

Just loved the interview !!! Katherine was very funny when she sang Amy Winehouse's "I don't want to go to rehab." She was so sharp and witty singing it. Just loved it !!!!!
