She has done a great job on the mini mcmansion. There was buzz in Hollywood not long ago of a reality TV show starring Katharine being an interior designer for other celebrities. Don't be surprised if we see a Katharine McPhee furniture line or other household merchandise. She is becoming a poster girl for stylish living. Walnut hardwood flooring, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops; all the latest stylish apopointments for chic California living. Way to go Kat!

I agree zzyzx! I've always loved Kat's taste and was totally blown away when I saw her new condo. We have the EXACT same taste! Her ecclectic approach to decorating and the asian influence with the natural tones is exactly the way I decorate. She could certainly do professional decorating after what I saw of her condo. Boy, she is certainly a young woman with many, many talents. What can't she do, lol?!!!!!!!!

CRB and Simon, I'm curious how do you guys get best quality on gofish? 640x480 at low bitrate, or 320x240 at "higher" bitrate? Or something else completely? I ended up reencoding the cap to 320x240, target bitrate to hit 99MB, which I guess is cheating compared to you guys having to reencode the avi. Yet it was still sort of crappy. Maybe it was the 23 minute length.
btw CRB I'm always entertained by your tags and titles! Oh and the mature audience warning too.

I use the YouTube guideline for both YouTube  & GoFish videos, and they are found under the FAQ there:

We recommend the following settings:

  • MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
  • 320x240 resolution
  • MP3 audio
  • 30 frames per second

Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your videos look better on YouTube.

So as you surmised diff,  run the highest  reasonable (something commensurate with the source clip quality, if possible)  bit rate that could be  run on the video and still make it under the file size limit.  In this My Celebrity Home clip,  your ~12 min. clip 237 MB became about 87 MB with the above specs  and I did the math and set the combined A/V bitrate to avoid any over sized surprises.  Of course, YouTube has a 10 minute time limit too.

On my titles, I always try to get Reality Girl in there because that gives people something they can search for to see if I have Kat clips up and the rest of it is nonsense that relates to the clip in some way, sometimes rather strangely.

Kat has a lovely "first" home. I especially like her oriental furniture like the amoire. I got the impression that the decorating was mostly her inspirations. What else can this girl do!  Thanks as always Diff for bringing this in the best quality

I think the tour of her condo was done shortly after being decorated and shortly after she purchased the place. In fact, if I remember correctly, during one of her video blogs she states that the decorators are coming and that they are going to do her place and film it, then at a later date decorate a room of a fan to look like hers. I think she mentions about 20 people ready to work on her place. I don't think she had actually lived in the decorated condo very long, or if at all, after it being decorated before they did the tour. That would explain virtually nothing in the fridge and no personal items around, including a photo of Nick.
