From Kat's appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show that originally aired on 2-7-07.  It re-aired tonight without Love Story being cutoff.  Thanks to whylive08 on IDF for the heads-up.  I watched the performance 4 times tonight and came to the following conclusion which I posted on IDF as well.

whylive08 said "it was AWESOME".  I replied...

You know what? It WAS awesome! Damn, I forgot how good this performance really was! I was fortunate enough to be there for this mini-concert and I was totally mezmorized by her on that stage. I was at Leno too, and those of us who were there thought it sounded great in studio, but most agreed it didn't sound quite as good on TV. This time around the sound was great and Kat's vocals were almost perfect. She totally let loose and just had fun with it, and you could see it in her performance. This is mp3 worthy, no doubt. I've always loved this song, but I wasn't sure if it would be right for the next single. After watching this again tonight I'm convinced Love Story would make a great second single. Is it necessarily the right one? Who really knows? But I could see it doing very well, and it comes off so good live which helps a lot too.

I still can't quite warm up to this song, per se, but the best thing about it is that Katharine obviously enjoys performing it.

ok, here's my version. I was fortunate enough not to have a glitch in the signal so I guess that's one advantage over Shady's. (darn, those advantages are getting hard to come by these days. Props to the big guy for that!) Disadvantage would be size. I *think* the quality justifies the size, but maybe my mind is fooling me.

So far I've made 2 major technical changes, one in the quantization and the other in expanding the color palette, so to speak. From now, my caps will have these changes***. I also made a couple minor changes that (I think) reduced noise and helped improve video quality compared to my previous vids.

If nothing else, the grain on the bass guitar really pops! Surely that's worth the size

***A side effect is that people who view these on standalone AVI players might see some color changes. I don't know, I don't have one. I held off on making this change because of the purist in me. But I finally decided to shift the emphasis to people who view on computers. Sorry if this is a disappointment to some. On the other hand, maybe the color changes when viewed on TV won't be all that noticable.

Or does anybody care about all this stuff?

I thought I noticed something different about 'LS' last night on the rerun. The song was still shortened--but at least we got an ending this time. So thanks, Mark, for calling that out and providing the download. This and 'Open Toes' are a blast to see Kat perform live...especially on the AOL Sessions. The grooves on both are infectious. Also, you can tell the musicians (particularly the drummer) are having loads of fun playing them. You don't usually see drummers smile all that often. 

By the way, I don't think the Kimmel site ever put Kat's performance of 'LS' up on his website. Maybe he received some complaints for that and they appeased by showing the full version on the rerun. It's kind of weird they cut it off on the initial broadcast, yet showed the whole thing on the rerun version.

With this, you assume that maybe there's still a "Kat on Jimmy Kimmel Special Edition" out there that we have yet to see. On that one, maybe Ms. Be comes up and does a fifteen-minute interview with Kat on the couch before seeing Kat's ENTIRE show outside (shot through that psychedelic curtain).

Good to finally see this show on TV last night after missing it initially. Now I have more respect for spit artists...

Oh, and thanks, Diff, for your download version too. While I still think the AOL Sessions are the definitive performances of Kat's songs so far, these Kimmel ones were Kat finally turning loose on the songs and the band finding their chemistry.

Just a headsup for people using Media Player Classic, diffs clip of Love Story from Kimmel was kind choppy/skippy when played with that player. It might be the 60fps. Use VLC player and it is smooth as butter.

I would be wary of posting links at IDF. Many links are being poached from that board and used at blogs.  Diffs MegaUpload link should have been good for 45 days between downloads before deletion and didn't quite make it to that point.   Moreover, I think some of the copyright holders may be watching thing over there quite closely.  This board kind of flies under the radar a lot of the time.

It happened to all my AOL Sessions AVI's and MP3's and the only link from the sticky I took over GBTC, so keep that in mind.  In fact, the only reason I found out was somebody poached the links from one of the blogs that "borrowed" them and posted them back at IDF.

Just a heads up on the significance of this file.  When Katharine originally appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live her three segments on the show consisted of  an interview, Over It performance and a performance of Love Story that was truncated by the end of the show.  When that episode was rebroadcast later the Love Story performance was shown in its entirety.  The files above are of the complete version.
