Hey Lin, thanks for posting this...where in the world did you find it being in Cali???  I love how the DJ made sure to point out it's Kath A rine!  LOL!!

in my mind the ultimate "Idol" contestant of the pre-lapsarian era, the one who most perfectly combined the demands for relentless emotive singing and the wow factor -- Katharine McPhee

Heard about yesterday..this morning surfed the net  Good interview.  Like hearing the DJ sayingOver It is a cross over class platform song and also a possible tour.  Hope Kat's new management can swing an opening act tour with a well-known recording artist.

I listened to this earlier and it sounds like the DJ is more confident about the album than Kat is, very funny.

When he asked who wrote Over It and she didn't know was a bit of an awkward moment there. She should have a crib sheet for those kind of questions, if necessary.  The reality of it is she should have the name, anything else significant they have written, ect ready and pimp that songwriter when the guy says a kind word about the song.  Over It is a well written song.

She's probably so used to people asking the same dumb old questions over and over... But I love that he sounded so positive about Over It, that's his business, he knows what people ask for and what they like. And the guy at Z100 in NYC said they had to put in a separate line for OI requests. Maybe he was just kidding, but on the other hand, she does have some dedicated NY area fans.

Thanks for this.   A tour schedule announced at the end of March. I'll be watching for it.

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

Thanks for finding this. Is there any other way to put it up?. On my dial-up it buffers badly and won't play it correctly even after going all of the way through it once. It just starts the buffering all over again. Thanks--

There are a couple of ways to do this you could right click the link and choose "Save Link As..." or use this Sendspace link that I put up. Either one should work.

So a tour is going to be planned? I really hope that it's a tour that her band has. By that I mean like her own tour where she's singing her songs instead of opening up for somebody else.
And this will supposedly be decided at the end of March? Well if that is the case, if the tour starts in March I wonder how many months it will be.

I'm keeping my eyes out, this is very exciting.

I seriously doubt she'd start touring in March.  I think the planning is going to happen in March.  She's got to either find someone to open for or figure out available venues to make a tour schedule that makes sense.  Then you have to hook everything up with the ticket selling agencies and such.  She won't actually be on tour in March.  Unless she's hopping on with someone else who is already out there.  I guess that's possible.

Interesting interview there--and seems like we would have heard much more of these in recent weeks. These "live via phone" interviews with Kat to various radio stations have only been occasional recently rather than the dozens we heard last summer.

Anyway, if you hear the whole interview--Kat definitely says there may be a tour of some kind in March. That's probably only word from her people, though, and not something by her own doing. She probably has her team saying a lot of stuff that she hears and doesn't know what the ultimate final result will be. And perhaps some of you missed there that she'd like to open for Justin Timberlake if given a preference. Kat seemed down on herself that she wouldn't be big enough of a star to do that--though I agree with the DJ that even Justin would probably love that. I'm not sure how the rest of you feel about having to go see a JT show just to see Kat's show in the beginning. The guy's talented for sure--though I wish she'd open for a female performer instead. On the other hand, opening for a famous guy performer might be easier in some respects for a contrast. Two women singers competing on the same bill might lead to problems.

I think, by the way, that Kat needed some coffee during this interview. These morning interviews after an undoubtedly heavy-duty day prior aren't easy to do. We all know what it's like to have to be sharp that early in the morning when deadly tired. There seemed to be more silences there toward the end...but Kat still managed some interesting and different answers to things.

With 'AI': Kat's always going to have a love-hate litany of memories being on that show. In one interview, she'll talk about some of the dark sides of it--and in another, more glowingly. That's pretty much how Jennifer Hudson was too...especially last night when asked (at her press conference after winning the Oscar) what she thought of 'AI' as a major platform in launching careers. She agreed that it's probably one of the best places to get yourself known in the world right now and gives it credit for where she is now. I think a lot of those singing rejects look at it the same way. Just being on TV for a few minutes is everything...no matter how bad you sing.

It's pretty well a certainty that she will not be doing a solo tour this time around. They will pair her with a top-selling well known artist who can draw an audience. That is one way for Katharine to garner new fans and it most certainly will boost album sales. She is not a big enough selling performer to fill most venues as yet. Btw, it is not going to be Katharine who finds an artist to tour with, that would be the label who does the pairing. It is usually someone from the same label or at least a recording artist from Sony.

Thats a real bummer about Kat not getting a solo tour It seems as though her album/single is still gaining airplay and spins along with her new video which will translate into higher sales...
Should'nt they wait a bit longer and see where the sales go before saying no to a solo tour??

What you have to remember is Katharine in reality has a relatively small core audience.  If she did a "solo tour" it would be small in scope (likely short) and small in venue (who knows clubs and the like).  The real problem with club tours for a POP artist like Kat is the fan base skews young, meaning clubs and bar touring is out the window.  For instance many of Taylor's tour stops are 21 year old and up.

So, where does that leave us?  I think the DJ in this interview had some pretty good thoughts on the matter, if possible Kat could hook up for a few tour dates with some big name act and get the huge exposure that comes with a large arena-type venue gig and not have to carry the ball as far as being the main draw.  And perhaps do a few small venues too.  Being the headliner on a major tour is really not something Kat is up to as a performer or as a  draw.

Glad you said that Sjwolves, btw what's your name so I don't have to keep calling you by your KMF name?
I don't want her to start touring in March because that wouldn't be a good time for me.

In the Summer is the perfect time just like last year for me to go see her on tour.

Summer would be better than March because the young ones wouldn't have school and then the older fans would make plans to see Kat and then when all of those fans come together, thus it creates a larger audience for the Tour.
