I've been having trouble with some lines on the screen.  Every few seconds you'll see a line come down.  I got a little worried when I capped the first time tonight cuz the image was getting warped really bad whenever there was a lot of movement, but luckily it worked much better the second time around.  So other than the little lines, which aren't too bad, these should be good to go.

Hey, if you tell me there are little  lines on there I'll believe you but it seems like  100% pure Shady goodness from  my vantage point.  Thanks again these are sweet.

in my mind the ultimate "Idol" contestant of the pre-lapsarian era, the one who most perfectly combined the demands for relentless emotive singing and the wow factor -- Katharine McPhee

I think this is by far her best performance of Over It. I really like the song but for some reason it sounds so awkward when she sings it live. She just keeps getting better and better though.

Awkward?!? What on earth can you mean? This rendition was the best I've heard or seen so far --it was truly inspired and it showed Kat's GREAT stage presence, moves and timing  ....it also exhibited strong clues of her broadway-style acting ability!

One example of awkward:

...hurts a little bit...

and Katharine comes in on the bold part. Not only awkward but surely against all the rules of singing to come in at the end of a word like that. I always find that jarring, it is like she forgot the words or is out of breath. There are some other instances similar to that. I think this is why people thought the first Leno performance wasn't quite up to par.

But she does it this way every single time so it must be planned that way.

Bad planning I'd say, but then I come from a different generation, maybe this is normal now, I dunno!

Wouldn't it be easier to sing and sound less awkward if Katharine just sang one part and let the backup singers do the rest?

I agree that the Ellen Show was one of Katharine's best live performances of "Over It". This show provides stage space like no other TV show and the lighting is very professional. Katharine is beginning to relate to the band more; both musically and personally. It was a good decision to use the hand mic. It gave her the freedom to move around and dance a bit more. Since OI isn't exactly a happy song, she could never grin from ear to ear or jump around the stage like she can with a happier piece. It is coming together nicely and she is almost in tour shape.

Hmm...I think the 'awkwardness' lies in the fact that (besides nerves) the verses of Over It are in the lower range, while the chorus is relatively in the higher range, in which case Kat has usually come in sharp at "WANting you...". Gifted with a very good ear, however, she always redeems herself with the rest of the song, especially towards the end. She is getting better and better though, and so far, her latest performances have been almost flawless.

As for the "s a little bit...", I think she's trying to adlib, "just a little bit", and so it sounds like she's just saying the "s" (or "st"). Or maybe it's just me...LOL

Exactly as I thuoght ... For one .. "Over It" is a very very hard song to sing ...  The range is a lot ... hehehehe ... when she tries to sing both "Your world.." "I'm over it" etc etc ... 'till the part "Wanting you ..." ... It seems like as if she's "running" inthe song ... well I guess it's because in one part the song must be sung in lower range and the other is in a higher range ... it's hard .... might be better if Kat sang "Your world", then the backup singers sang "I'm over it ..."... IMHO... I might be wrong ... I don't know ... heheheheh ... But I agree ... Kat sings it better and better ...
