First of all What exactly is an Avatar and how do I put one up next to my user name? Second question is What would be a good way to start to make a blend because I don't know how I should start it?

I also do not know what is the meaning of avatar..maybe a small picture…for your next question, just go to edit profile and upload the avatar or any picture that you want. For your second question, the most important is that you have the software and start playing around with it...I suggest Adobe Photoshop..

I agree with Rickey, Adobe Photoshop, in my opinion is the best.
