Or play an instrument for that matter?

I'm a guitarist. I have 7 guitars (my dad plays too). I also sing, but I'm not the best. What about you guys?

I've been playing the violin for seven years and singing most of my life. I've been singing in a choir for a little over six years, though, and plan to continue for, well, ever. =)

Chad, I would just love to make a Think video, but this proves to be difficult with no webcam, camcorder or even a microphone on either of my computers. =)

My dad was a keyboard man and used to have his own band, as did my stepmother, although she preferred brass and woodwinds and sometimes sang. The musical talent mostly skipped a generation and I turned out to be a writer, my second non-fic book is in the works right now, and I write fiction mostly for my own amusement (and my friends'). I love to mess around on keyboards and did a stint as church organist once (a VERY SMALL church and my nerves were horrible) but can't really call myself a musician. I can carry a tune or sing harmony, but that's it. I am in awe of singers. All that music just pours out of them without even an instrument, just them being a channel for bringing all that beautiful stuff into the world from wherever it comes from. It's like watching the wind blow through the tree branches, a little bit of God in action, invisible but undeniably there.

I listened to the 2nd song. I like your tone and you have potential. Your vocals are still developing (vibrato in particular), but that will come naturally. I remember that my vibrato developed the most from 16-18, and now that I'm almost 19 it has pretty-much matured. So in short, just keep doing what you've been doing and it should come together nicely.

Yes, I majored in voice in college but that was quite a few years ago! I taught vocal music for a short time and now spec.ed to emotionally disturbed teens. I absolutely love singing.Have sung in several choral/gospel groups over the years and a folk choir. One of my most memorable musical experiences was singing in a large gospel group at Carnegie Hall with Odetta and at the Eastman(think KODAK) Theater here in Rochester with Mahalia Jackson. Sang with a local women's chorus for over 15 years and had a few solos. Had to learn the fundamentals of most of the instruments in college but haven't played any of them in quite awhile. My secret dream was always to sing on Broadway-but not this lifetime I guess!!I still sing every chance I get-mostly with cd's or radio etc. Thanks so much for letting me share...Yogini/aka Nancy Decker

Hey, Diane.  That first link isn't working for me...loading forever.  Could be just me.  Is anyone else having that problem?

I listened to DCOL, very nice.  I'm not musically trained or anything but I think you're pretty good.  Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully some of you other artists out there will share with us too.

Um... I sing but I'm better at being a back-up vocalist and lead guitarist. I play the piano and the drums too. Oh yeah, I know Diane could really sing after hearing her other post (SOTR, GBC, and STWOV). Great voice.
