I read somewhere that you wanted to surprise your fans with the style of your album. I don’t know if you really said that or if they misquoted you. But I don’t think anything you do could really surprise us, your true McPhans. We know what a great range you have and how versatile you are. I mean, come on, you’ve done duets with Andrea Bocelli, Taylor Hicks, and Meatloaf! That’s a pretty varied mix, right there. And despite your penchant for classics and ballads (I know, that often plays better on AI), you’ve done wonders with “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree” and “Think.” As for the “hard rock” tease, you’ve sung Queen admirably. Besides, with bands like Evanescence around, you’d give Amy Lee a run for her money on the hard rock scene! Simon was right when he called you “current.” You’re going to be huge on the music scene for a long time! That’s no surprise for us!
Of course, if you want it to be a surprise for us by not telling us what it’s about, that’s just cute! It’s like Christmas, looking at all the pretty packages and wondering what’s in them. I can’t wait!!
