Dear Katharine McPhee:

What's up, Kat! I certainly hope you're relishing the exquisite springtime temperatures in the City of Angels (that is amidst your hectic A.I. work schedule). Health wise, I'm dealing with the pesky allergy season and high pollen count circulating in the San Francisco, Bay Area. "McPheever" is agreeable. "Hay fever" literally blows! Let's just say I'm seriously contemplating a stockholder's investment in Claritin-D. Just kidding!

Changing the subject, I believe heartfelt congratulations are most definitely in order. I meticulously watched your audacious interpretations of "Against All Odds" (Phil Collins's bittersweet ballad) and "Black Horse and The Cherry Tree" (K.T. Tunstall's upbeat Scottish jig) on Tuesday night's "American Idol." Specifically, I noticed how you artistically gravitate towards familiar songs featured on popular movie soundtracks. For instance: "The Bodyguard," "Against All Odds," "Someone To Watch Over Me," and "Highlander." That's cool!

For what it's worth, I honestly savored your gutsy and entertaining song selections so much I decided to double vote! I persistently redialed the contestant phone number nine and eventually heard your sultry recorded voice. On a personal note, I value the number nine because I was born on December 9. Furthermore, my favorite baseball movie "The Natural" focuses on a redeemed "Wonder Boy" pitcher/batter, Roy Hobbs, with the lucky number nine on the back of his uniform. Lightning strikes! Thunderous applause! Plus, I really love the morality tale about handling fame and behind-the-scenes corruption with integrity and conscience.

Traveling down memory lane, I wanted to compliment you on the incredibly cute baby photos from your immediate family album. Truth be told: My compassionate heart went out to "you" and your concerned parents on last night's nerve-racking A.I. results show. Even though, my innate faith in a higher power somehow knew you'd turn out -- safe and sound! I can't explain it, Kat. Faith is a lantern that guides a lost hiker in the pitch-dark cavern.

Just in case, you're ever feeling scared, anxious, or uncertain. I have a delicious slice of "Dear Abby" advice for you: Sing "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys. This uplifting song guarantees to soothe the nerves and inhibitions. You'll be smiling in no time. I promise. Scout's honor, Miss McPhee!

Well, I think I've babbled on long enough. I can hear the crickets chirring in the forest. Just joking! As superstitious actors say in the theater: "Break-a-leg" on next Tuesday's Elvis Presley themed "American Idol" episode. Enjoy the peanut butter and banana sandwiches at Graceland! May the Lord's grace and mercy continue to comfort "you" and your loved ones in the challenging days/weeks ahead! Happy Cinco de Mayo, Kat! Adios.

Most sincerely,

Clint C.
