Soooooo...now it's time for the most important thing you have to do all Idol season. YOUR TOP 12 BALLOT!!!! These aren't due until next Wednesday at 8 PM but I'm not sure what's going to happen between now and then that's going to change your mind so why not get it in as soon as possible? I'll go first!
1. Pia Toscano
2. Casey Abrams
3. Scotty McCreery
4. James Durbin
5. Lauren Alaina
6. Jacob Lusk
7. Stefano Langone
8. Karen Rodriguez
9. Haley Reinhart
10. Paul McDonald
11. Thia Megia
12. Naima Adedapo
I hate knocking all the girls out so soon but I can't see it any other way. But we will have a female champion!!!! GO PIA!!!!!!!!!! |

I made out my list this weekend and then got a glimpse of Entertainment Weekly's top 13. My gut instinct is that they have it way off. Evidence: Pia at #5 and Ashthon at #10. Now you guys might sway my opinion, but not EW. I felt for the Top 13 week everyone was a little off, a little let-down because they only had to be better than one person, not better than half. It's kinda hard to pick the nuances of a Top 12 without more performances, but I liked going right from 24 to 13 in one shot. I probably won't have any more chance on the computer before Wed at 8, so here goes. 1. Pia 2. Casey 3. Lauren 4. James 5. Jacob 6. Karen 7. Stefano 8. Thia 9. Scotty 10. Paul 11. Haley 12. Naima LOL - too bad I can't play two bingo cards. And unofficially, my personal favorites would be: 1. Casey 2. Jacob 3. Thia 4. Lauren 5. Pia 6. Karen 7. Stefano 8. Scotty 9. Naima 10. Paul 11. Haley 12. James |

5. Pia
I think my opinion changed a bit after last week's show. I bumped James up some and dropped James a little. Obviously they did that before Ashthon went home. I cannot imagine Lauren finishing second and Pia fifth but who knows.
Pia is your fifth favorite?!?! 5-point deduction! |

Thanks for the reminder,Joe....but I've been doing some last minute research. From experience,I've leaned that the top 12 list is not necessarily comprised the singers I prefer...but more the choices of the voting blocks.Factors like nationality(Thia...Filipino vote);sympathy for Casey's illness;country fans for Scotty...are all in play here.So even though I love Haley & Pia,and it's time for a female to win...most of the voters are probably females voting for cute males. 1]Scotty 2]Casey 3]Pia 4]Lauren 5]James 6]Thia 7]Paul 8]Stefano 9]Jacob 10]Haley 11]Karen 12]Naima |

It's funny that I said EW had it way off with Pia at #5 and then she's my #5 favorite. She doesn't have (yet) a spark of life to make her interesting to watch when she's singing or talking. I'd rather listen to/watch Scotty who doesn't sing a style I like at all because he's invested in his songs.
You guys may be right ranking Scotty higher, but I don't think I'll move him in my list.
I want a girl to win, too!!! |

Oh boy, my favorite part of the pool! I'm pretty good at knowing the bottom 3, but I stink at the top 3.
Here goes, bearing in mind that I don't think Pia has much of a shot at #1:
#1 Pia
#2 Scotty
#3 Casey
#4 James
#5 Lauren
#6 Paul
#7 Thia
#8 Jacob
#9 Stefano
#10 Naima
#11 Haley
#12 Karen

Alright, I have everyone's ballot in except for Co's and she assures me that she'll get hers in when she gets home from work this evening before the show starts at 8 PM our time.
I'll post the "group ballot" after I have hers.
Oh, here's the two ballots I received from outside of this board.
Gregoriancant
1. Thia
2. Pia
3. Karen
4. Casey
5. Lauren
6. Scotty
7. Paul
8. Haley
9. Stefano
10. James
11. Jacob
12. Naima
Then we have Mattsie's picks:
1. Thia
2. Stefano
3. Pia
4. Lauren
5. Casey
6. Jacob
7. Scotty
8. Naima
9. Karen

Because I can't stand it...here's your group ballot. This is pre-Co's picks which could shift a few things but at least you get an idea where we are. The number next to the name is the average placement.
1. Pia 1.7
2. Lauren 3.8
3. Scotty 3.9
4. Casey 4.1
5. James 4.8
6. Thia 5.8
7. Jacob 7.3
8. Stefano 8.3
9. Paul 8.5
10. Karen 8.9
11. Haley 10.1
12. Naima 10.8

And then don't forget we're still doing the bottom three/elimination picks as usual. But now that I have ballots, if you happen to miss a week I can just use those for default picks so you won't totally lose out.
That's all for today. |

Wow, I see the ballots have a variety for the Top 2, it's a good group and hard to pick who may make it to the finale. As others have posted, you do have to factor in the demos - tween girl voters, Cougars, the South, etc. in making your selections, so with that said here's my Idol Crap Shoot at the Top 12 for Season 10:
1. Pia
2. Scotty
3. Casey
4. Lauren
5. James
6. Thia
7. Jacob
8. Stefano
9. Namia
10. Paul
11. Haley
12. Karen

Well, the bottom 3 is quite obvious to me. Steven Tyler is either tone deaf or lying. He dares to say Naima's performance "beautiful". Her pitch was so off to the point I almost wanted to mute the TV. It's embarassing to watch her continue. I want Simon back! If she doesn't go home tonight, there is no justice. And there goes Paul, I know he has a large fanbase but I can never get this guy. Thia actually has a very beautiful and pure voice. She just needs to pick songs that are not so boring. Pia looks absolutely stunning last night. I don't know why, but every time I watch her, I'm reminded of Kat 5 years ago. However, I still think her best performance was "I'll Stand By You". Nonetheless, I have no doubt she'll be the last girl standing this year. In fact, there are only 2 girls that deserve to be in the top 5, Pia and Lauren. That's it.
So, my bottom 3:
Haley
Karen
Naima - (going home... please!) |

(Who SHOULD be in the bottom three based on last night's performances: Casey - Risks Don't Have to Mean Bad Singing, Naima - Off Pitch, Paul - Can't Stand His Singing, Sorry.) Who I PREDICT will be in the bottom three: Haley, Karen, Naima Going home: Haley

Bottom 3
1. Haley
2. Naima
3 Jacob....buh bye
and may i just add that Idol was horrible last night and will probably be horrible tonight with who they have headlining the show...i mean Come On Now: Lee DeSomething and Blackeyedpeas (they are just okay)...would someone let the Idol producers that they are now in their tenth season and have plenty of good talent from season past that they could use for entertainment for the show and stop with the pimping of major celebs...come on now!!!...done with my itty bitty rant.. |

Umm I don't think Idol did a good job with the order of singers last night because they put all my least favorite people at the beginning. Anyway, I've only got five candidates for bottom three this week and those are...
Paul, Naima, Karen, Haley & Thia. I'm declaring the other seven safe from elimination. If it were up to me the bottom three would be Paul, Naima & Thia but it isn't so what I think is going to happen is:
Haley, Karen & Naima in the bottom three with Naima going home.
I hate that it looks like the girls are going to be heading home week after week for the next 3-4 weeks. Ugh. At least I'll have Pia (and Lauren to a lesser extent). |

OK so with Co's ballot (and yeah Maddie it's too late to change since the Top 12 show has aired) factored in our group ballot is officially:
1. Pia 1.636
2. Scotty 3.727
3. Lauren 3.818
4. Casey 4.000
5. James 4.818
6. Thia 5.818
7. Jacob 7.273
8. Stefano 8.272
9. Paul 8.636
10. Karen 9.182
11. Haley 10.181
12. Naima 10.636
I should add that last year we had Lee in 4th on the group ballot. The year before Kris Allen was 8th. We had David Cook 5th. The best we've done was second place for Jordin in Season 6. So as a Pia fan that doesn't make me real excited about her chances.
Oh I should add that our group favorite as finished 2nd three times (Archuleta, Crystal & Adam) and third the other time (Melinda). So based on that Pia is going to be around into May but probably not win. |

Agree with all of this. Funny how during the auditions I thought Steven Tyler was great...he hasn't been nearly as good on the live shows. But then we have Jennifer Lopez, who I think has been way better on the live shows! Weird. If you want Simon back you'll have to watch the X Factor (which is a fun show if it's like the UK version).

Well I don't think other people get Paul either. Bottom three: Paul, Naima, and Haley with Naima going home. I think if she had sung a slow song and stood still she would be safe because she wouldn't have pitch problems. But JLo nailed it - get a pass on pitch because you showed creativity once, but not twice in a row. And on the other side of that coin, Thia has a GORGEOUS tone, but she needs a little emotion (like Pia) and to move around! She's more stagnant than Clay Aiken - lol. Maybe Haley can figure out who she is and stick around while a couple guys get booted. And Karen was much improved this week. Best of the night: Stefano. Most disappointing - Casey. |

I agree with you Michael, but I think Naimi is going to be with us another week. And yes, Pia is the closest thing to Kat since Kat, but not quite as pretty. Then again, who is?
#10 Haley
#11 Naimi
#12 Karen "Hasta la vista, baby "
Oh, and Steven Tyler = Paula; Randy = Simon; J-Lo = Randy. |

Guess the voters like pitchy..... We all know JLo,who really feels for these kids, wanted to save Karen....... Anyone else see the similarity with the little girl Pia holding the mic and young Kat singing into her hairbrush? Agree,Bill.....no one can compete with the stunning Kat.......but Pia definitely has that "IT" factor and is quite exotic-looking.Love her sense of style,as well!
