Katharine back on the music charts with music from Smash.
http://ydtalk.com/chatter/2012/06/s...ic-charts/
Great news! I know that some fans have concerns about Kat doing this type of music, but I figure that it is popular enough that somebody will have hits in this genre. If someone who can actually sing, like Katharine, snatches the odd hit in this genre, it won't bother me, as I don't think her future album(s) will emphasize this style. Even Frank Sinatra had to record music out of his comfort zone every once in awhile. (Before Sinatra became a legend, he had a minor hit called "Mama Will Bark", a song featuring barking dog noises that he hated so much that he offered to pay a radio station money not to play it when he heard it being broadcast.) Besides, I like "Touch Me" much better than "Open Toes". |

Some random thoughts: I hope Brain James D'Arcy gets to sing a real song before he goes. I also would like for the new season to have more of the tech people, props, costumes, designers, lighting, sound. They could be someone's love interest or confidante or new roommate. We don't have to totally get what they do to enjoy them as people. I was running the lights in a community theater version of Fiddler on the Roof (didn't even design them - just turned them off and on) and was talking to one of the women who played a daughter. I mentioned how I could never go on stage and sing. And she said she could never run the light as she'd be too nervous. And I think she was serious and not just being polite. You never know what someone else's perspective might be. |

katsfan, it's currently #7 on Billboard's Dance Club/Dance Airplay chart, but a tweet from an Idol watcher said it was at #5. Billboard won't show it officially on their chart until next week. I don't know if your link or a similar one is really available. |

Dalki, I am under the impression that these are different charts. I found both charts listed at a third party web page , but the BB airplay link doesn't currently work and that is the one the fan said "Touch Me" was #5. http://www.alaskajim.com/charts/gen.../dance.php |

Dalki, I can't seem to edit my previous message, but I think you may be right. Now I think it is the same chart with a new name. So, maybe #5 next week. |

Katsfan, the chart has been known by a couple of different names, but if you go to Billboard.com and click on "Charts", you'll see a link for Dance/Club Play Songs. That's the one that Kat's on. |

http://www.billboard.com/charts/dan...play-songs # 7, looks like #5 last week? Don't they have a more current photo? What's the matter with Columbia? |

Barlo, the 5 is the number of weeks on the chart, if that's what you are referring to; last week's position was #12. It seems Billboard is something like a week behind what's being reported from whatever source, so we should see it #5 on the chart next week. |

Has anyone got any information on the songs to be included on Katharine's new album, or even any new songs she has written or co-written? I haven't been able to find anything, but I am dying for some information! |

My guess they'll probably end up changing the title, if it goes on the album. |

I think it's time to close this thread and move on to Season Two. It can be confusing enough deciding where to post stuff. |

Of all the songs of hers to have take off... the one I don't care if I ever hear again or not. Still, happy to see this. |

Katsfan, the Idolsnow twitter page seems to be a week ahead of Billboard's published chart for some strange reason. Billboard's chart will probably show it next week. |

Smash got 4 nominations: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Uma Thurman) Outstanding Choreography (Josh Bergasse) Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics (Pilot - Let Me Be Your Star) Considering most of the drama nominations went to cable shows, that isn't too bad. |

Woohoo!! Our girl is in an Emmy nominated show!!!!
Take that, Shark Night.
I think they need new categories for performances by actors and actresses in a singing role.
http://www.emmys.com/award_history_...winner=All
The website is not very user friendly. For instance "complete list" is really "most popular."
Hopefull Kat and Megan will get to perform at the Emmys' Awards Presentation show. |

When does the dvd actually come out? Amazon just talks about preorder. Also one of the reviews said Season starts 1/7/13. Can we confirm this? |
