Hey Kat Fans -

Just wanted to share a cool new artist I discovered that you may like.  Her CD is currently #3 on Amazon, damn good for a new artist.  I just picked up her new CD with Kat's at Best Buy, and am digging it!!

Here's my short & sweet Amazon.com review (I am no GregorianCant!)

I happened to stumble upon Corinne Bailey Rae this past weekend and heard "Put Your Records On," on the radio. Right off the bat, I liked the tune - I thought what a cool and breezy song for summer.  She was also on Jay Leno last night (June 28) singing her new song, and did an awesome job.  I remember watching Norah Jones' first appearance on the Tonight Show, and saying, "This girl is going to be big," sure enough Norah's first CD was a Grammy award winning album. I see big things happening for Corrine Bailey Rae too - it's great to hear some new and refreshing talent in today's music scene.

If your interested in hearing Corrine's music click on this link from one of the coolest radio stations ever - Radio Alice in San Francisco!

I'm checking out her stuff on MySpace right now.

She's good! Very smooth and jazzy. I like it.

Cool, glad you like.  All signs were pointing to me buying and supporting this new artist - heard the song for the first time on Sunday, saw her on Leno on Wednesday, CD staring at me at Best Buy for only $9.99 on Thursday - so in less than a week I became a fan.  I'm usually not that quick at buying someone's new CD, but I just really took to it and I have a strong feeling that she's going to be making it big and I love to support new talent - just like Kat.

I missed this earlier--so thanks for posting, Co. And I think I wrote a quick review of something once...but I'll have to look for it in the dusty file bin.

Saw CBR on Leno the other night myself and was fairly impressed. I also saw her CD being promoted on Amazon the other night while visiting there often to check out Kat's customer comments. In fact, I think they recommend it if you bought Kat's single. That shows some kind of connection there--and since both are all about music itself and voice.

From what I've heard of Corrine, she probably needs a tad bit more refining, even though she has amazing vocal styling for many singers at her age. Kat seems almost like a seasoned professional now, despite a few things she needs to grow into.

Kat and CBR may be the next big forces in singers who bring back the art of real singing again. There's more people out there who truly want that than anybody can imagine. And a lot of artists are arriving now who are finally getting pushed by big labels for the public who crave real singers.

I picture David Foster wringing his hands once again for another artist to put under his wing--even though CBR apparently signed with someone else.

I'm a big fan,her music is very soothing (not like a makes-you-wanna-sleep kind of way).It makes you sing along with a smile on your face.I like her voice with some rough edges,it gives a sense a rawness to her songs and makes her more memorable.

I was passing by VH1 and stopped when i heard her. I love her style, and "Put Your Records On" is very easy to listen to. The only drawback was that I got bored after my initial high impressions. The song was a bit too relaxed and never went anywhere. I'd still consider buying her album, as I am very interested in hearing her sing something else. I also saw her on Top 20, and she talked about a former band she was in, which was more of a rock style, and I just couldn't picture her singing in a heavy rock style. Interesting...

Check out this link on VH-1 and, hopefully it will pull up Corrine Bailey Rae from a list.  It lists her videos and some cool in studio acoustic version of the songs - I love the song "Like a Star"!

Just a few weeks ago I discovered Colline Bailey Raye's song "Put Your Records on, and it's one of my favorite songs to listen to now. I love her style, and her sound. It's a very catchy song. she definitely has that Norah Jones vibe, and I want to hear more of her songs. I'm probably going to buy her album. I've noticed that many Kat phans also like CBR, and I'm no exception I guess!

I wish I saw her on Regis and Kelly, and SNL last night. I'd like to see what her personality is like, and hear her sing some songs live.

Another outstanding UK based "smooth jazz" singer is Katie Melua. Her first album was multi-platinum and the second "Piece by Piece" opened #1 on the UK charts. Amazingly she is not well known in North America but she opened for Il Divo so is getting some recognition.

Reviving this thread now that Corrine Bailey has received some Grammy nominations.  I saw her on an encore performance of Oprah last nite - she was great!  I hope she wins "Best New Artist," she certainly is talented and is getting a lot of great exposure.
