Good play list there for Kat--even though that's just a snapshot of one week. Someone had her iPod playlist up somewhere before (was that on AOL?) and she had some different things up there. She had 'Stand' on that previous one (great gospel song from Bebe Winans, incidentally), plus mostly cuts from Christina's 'Back to Basics' album. Now, Kat's back to Christina's older material--which really is great stuff that holds up for just about anybody.

Good to see some Beyonce on there. I've never heard Kat mention Beyonce previously--and we can only hope Kat's albums will sell as well. Both of them will be doing (somewhat) the same type of music for a while. Though Beyonce seems to truly be placed under the Hip-Hop bins--where Kat's is being labeled as Rhythmic Pop...which means being placed in the Pop bins.

Basically, this list shows the influence of R&B and Soul on Kat's present musical styles. Even Marvin Gaye being on there shows that Kat usually digs the retro Soul sound quite a lot. MG's 'Let's Get It On' is one of the best making out songs ever. So it's apparently been put to good use.

They didn't put the artist's name next to the songs--even though I think most of us know who was who. The last one is Rihanna for those not up to speed on who sings what today.  And all of those songs could be ones Kat could cover easily. They're big songs for a good voice, are good to dance to, and all have lyrics that relate to her own life.

And, yep, I admit that 'Sexyback' is one of the few Justin songs that are cool to listen to more than once. Those interactions with Timbaland in that song are always fun...along with the groove. I give Kat credit for bringing Sexyback, however, rather than Justin.

Great find. Interesting to see what she identifies with. If Whitney Houston wasn't planning a comeback, I'm sure RCA would have marketed Katharine as the new Whitney. She always choses big voices because that's her strength.
