Yeah...I've become totally addicted.  I've been watching the re-airs of Season Five on Fox Reality, Idol Rewind on the weekends of Season One (although it's annoying that they are repeating all of the ones they've already showed before they start showing the Top 30).

Season Five was the first season I watched at all really (other than seeing a few auditions here and there).  But I'm excited for Season Six.  I don't anticipate finding another Katharine to fall in love with.  But I'm sure I'll have a favorite.

This season will be very interesting in that we will know who the true Kat Phans will be and how many people will change allegiance to other contestants from AI6. Taylor's reign is almost over.

Once I started watching American Idol, I immediately became addicted. You can't stop watching it!!!! I'm looking forward to the twists coming out this season. I have also been watching season 5 over again on Fox Reality, but I won't be watching it next week!! I'll be watching season six!!!!

Don't worry, they'll never be another Kat! I've been around a long time and, although I've seen some great talents, I've never seen  a performer that's got IT ALL like Kat does.

Every year the judges say "This is the best season, ever". They said that about AI5, but I havent heard them say it about season 6. Don't you want to watch Taylor not being "the idol" anymore? I do.

It would also be nice for them not to call Katharine "idol runner-up" and start calling her what she is, recording artist, Katharine McPhee.

I don't know if I can hack listening to TWO nights (and two hours besides) of horrible auditions during premiere week. It's hilarious for maybe ten minutes...but I can't listen to it for a whole evening. I may tune in to the first night, however, just to see what's up and what they say/show. Hopefully a commercial for Kat's album may air--though probably not until weeks later.

One thing I can guarantee: The "good" singers they've shown in commercial previews over the last few weeks won't likely make the Top 24. The producers probably already know that...but want to create more deception again. The people you least expect always end up in the top groups. Most people wouldn't have guessed that Taylor would win Season Five in the first month or two of 'AI' last year. Even I was weirded out by the guy and thought he'd be eliminated early when I first started watching Season Five in March then. Seeing a gray-haired man dancing around like a hyper child was hard to get used to. Funny how time makes things seem more fitting for pop culture.

Well, I usually do watch 'AI' once the true talent gets underway. It's been that way for me going back to the first season really. So I'm not going to shun the show 100% this year or any time. The awful glass-breaking auditions, however, should be rethought. People don't want to be overexposed to those singers. Why give those people even one minute of fame when they're just trying to be another William Hung wannabe? That Hung Factor ended quite a while ago...even though the auditions seem to get worse each year.

Of course the show will never find another Katharine in this lifetime. But it's still interesting to see how things play out on the show as a psychology lesson. It's akin to mental torture to be sure. Nevertheless, since the show is truly a breeding ground for people who will make it in the music business, it's worth watching just for that if you're someone who's interested in the music industry as I usually am.

The media is reporting Mariah Carey may make an appearance on the show this year. Perhaps Kat and Mariah can do a duet if (or when) Kat makes an appearance around finale time. Though that just makes the show too popular with such a scenario. It's already disconcerting hearing about people buying 'AI' bedsheets (and everything else) lately.

Actually, last year didn't they play a whole lot of Kellie & Paris in the ads for AI 5?  I remembered both of them.

Anyway, Katharine's appearance on Idol would likely be during the rounds prior to the Top 12.  That's what they did last year with Carrie & Bo.  I'm guessing they'll have Taylor, Katharine and Chris make appearances during the Top 24, 20 & 16 weeks respectively on the results show nights.

And generally the winner is the only one to return for the finale.  Which will probably seem mighty strange considering Chris & Katharine will be the ones on the top of charts.

I'll be watching but will surely give even less credibility to those hair-brained people they call "judges".They cannot be called objective because they have ulterior motives and Simon,is the worst of the lot because he can at least sound deceptively literate!His behavior with the UK Idol and Leona Lewis was unbelievable and he is currently bad-mouthing an American icon,Bob Dylan!!It's all about publicity and $$$$$$$ and somewhat about talent.Thank goodness Kat was able to come through this circus intact and a superstar!!There will not be anyone as gifted or stunning on that program ever again!!

As a viewer since Season 1 (though I only saw a few of season one), there's no way I can STOP watching.

I think season five was the most talked about season out of all of them. Even though I didn't start watching until in the middle of season 4.
